Don't have room for five speakers and a floor-thumper? Convinced that you have only two ears for a reason? Bought a new home and you're broke? Sherwood makes a nice 100W per channel stereo receiver that should meet your needs nicely.
Remote control, sleep setting, preset scanner, and 30 station presets make this AM/FM stereo receiver easy to use, as does the fact you don't need enough speakers to fill the spots of two people to run it. Has all the essentials you normally need: bass/treble controls, quartz phase-locked loop tuning with digital synthesis to grab and hold your stations (without using a lockerful of crystals), and switching for another pair of speakers in another room. Expandable without being expensive.
This is a great main amp for the beginning audio enthusiast, or a solid subamplifier for serious sound tweakers.

- Pros: Awsome starting Reciver. mostly for some one that has never had a reciver before, and had onl a cd player, and or tape. very easy to set up and work with.
- Cons: none, See other thoughte.
- Other Thoughts: I have had this reciver for well over 3-4 years, and i have never had a problem. However sence i have had it for so long i have out grown the number of inputs it gives me. like i said this is for someone who has never had a reciver before.
Good inexpensive reciever
- Pros: Good power and sound. Inexpensive. Durable. What else is there to say?
- Cons: Bad remote control. Very bad. Died within one year.
- Other Thoughts: This receiver has been in my office for years and produces great sound on some inexpensive Whaferdale speakers and a Magnavox DVD player. Not high end stuff but I did not have that expectation. The receiver never failed but the remote died and was replaced with a universal.

Didn't last
- Pros: Worked well while it lasted. We just use it for parties in our basement so didn't really need anything special.
- Cons: Lasted less than 2 years. The front panel went wacky and pushing buttons would just do random things, like pushing the power button would switch the source. We used it like this for a while, using the remote as much as possible. Now the left channel blew out so it's useless.
- Other Thoughts: For the price i guess I can't really complain. Since it was used for parties, the volume was always cranked. That could be why it had such a short life. Probably going to pick up the cheap Sony receiver to replace this one.
- Pros: Very nice sound and reception
- Cons: Does nothave all the bells and whistles but a good basic unit
great for small rooms
- Pros: . Easy set up, 2 channels, 100 w/ch. great sound, easy amplification, and nice black finish.
. Ability to dim the light or turn it off completely while stereo running, great in the dark if you want to sleep.
. 30 pre set ch for FM & AM, i do not think you need more then 10 personally.
. remote works great from my position 12 feet away, small buttons but works fine.
I bought it at J&R for 84.99 free shipping.....sorry new egg, they beat you on this one,...have it hooked to 100 w each, Energy speakers, c-100 series ( cost more then the receiver, lol),... sound fills the room and is great, i have it hooked in vertical amplification mode, sound could'not be better,..
all in all great for small to medium rooms and excellent price, for audio only, no gizmos, no hdmi, no optical or coaxial outptout,..just pure old audio school, delivering great sounds,.. buy w/o hesitation..
- Cons: none
- Other Thoughts: 84.99 free shipping,..r u kidding me,....get it,..I am sure you'll fiind a use for it somewere in the house as a second or even 3rd receiver,...
