5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice Fan

Pros: 90 CFMs is always a Pro! Looks very stylish! Capable of installing into 120mm slots, as long as you have openings your good!

Cons: I think the noise rating may be higher then stated. Not a high pressure fan so don't use it as a heat sink fan if you can avoid it.

Pros: Looks nice

Cons: Seems defective upon arrival. Not matter what PSU I test it shows it as bad and says the unit is outputting high voltage.

Other Thoughts: Not sure if it's worth the time to RMA

5 out of 5 eggsHappy Camper

Pros: I've wanted a portable drive to do redundant backups on for a long time now, and this little piece of kit was exactly what I was looking for. Install was simple, with 2 1TB 5,400 RPM drives installed in a few minutes. Turn the dial to raid 1 and shazam, portable redundancy that doesn't require external power...if you use it on a USB 3.0 port. Transfer speeds could be better but it's likely the rotational speed I chose and not the interface causing the hold up. All in all this is a solid product.

Cons: The major drawback is obvious - USB 3.0 isn't exactly everywhere yet and when you're faced with a USB 2.0 what you have here is a portable drive that requires an AC adapter and wall plug...hampering its portability.

Other Thoughts: All in all a wonderful piece of kit.

Pros: None

Cons: Only partially functional, Poor to nonexistent customer service from Corsair!

Other Thoughts: Testing refurbished products before sending them out would be great. Paying for return postage on defective products seems fair. Don't think I will be doing business with Corsair again refurbished drive does not seem to be much of a bargain now.

5 out of 5 eggsSensible

Pros: Performance. Benches well against the 3770k. Handles what I need for CAD, vid editing, gaming and everyday computing.

Cost. At a minimum of 1/3rd less the cost of the 3770k, I can live without HT, 100mhz of clock and 2mb of L3 cache.

Price vs Performance. Unbeatable.

Cons: Newegg only sent me one. Of course I only ordered one, but....

Other Thoughts: Great overclocking. Manually, or by using mobo software, I was able to get a STABLE 4.7ghz out of this chip. I let AIDA 64 have her way with it, threw the kitchen sink at it myself for hours on end... all on a Hyper 212 Evo with a push/pull and the house is still standing.

5 out of 5 eggsFast and Light w/ remarkable battery life

Pros: There are a bevy of 14 inch Haswell-based laptops w/ dedicated gpus similar to the GE40 coming out soon. I'd normally recommend waiting until reviews for those competing models have come out. Having now used this laptop for a few days has convinced me that the GE40 it is the best option.

As far as specs are concerned, there is no obvious bottleneck or weak link. The lower-voltage i7 4702mq despite being clocked slightly slower than the i7 4700mq is still plenty fast enough for heavy productivity and is perfectly matched with nvidia's 760m for gaming. The new geforce 760m has double the shader units compared with the previous generation's 660m and the performance increase is substantial. 3dmark11 score is ~P4100-4200. I’ve not run any benchmarks on the 128gb ssd, but the boot times are fast and applications open quickly.

Build quality is acceptable. Aside from the lid and hand rests which appear to be brushed aluminum , heavy use of plastic is obvious but not without good reason. This laptop is incredibly light and convenient to handle. @ 4.4lb, it’s significantly lighter than any of the competing 14-inch ‘gaming’ laptops (ex. Alienware’s m14x @ 6.5 lb) DESPITE also having a 90 Whr battery. Both the upcoming Razer blade and Gigabyte’s P34G also weigh ~4.5 lbs, but at severe expense of battery capacity (70 whr and 47 whr respectively). Which brings me onto my next point…

The battery life on this laptop whist on integrated graphics is simply remarkable. I can hit 8 hours web-browsing on 50% brightness and almost 10 hours @ 15% brightness. People are impressed with the 12 hour battery life in the new Macbook Air, but that’s with a smaller screen, no dedicated graphics option, and a much weaker dual-core cpu. The idea that a legitimate ‘gaming laptop’ weighs only a 1.4lbs more than the Macbook air and achieves 75% of the its battery life is ridiculous.

For a gaming and productivity workhorse, the GE40 is surprisingly portable and persistent.

Cons: The screen is a typical TN panel and so the viewing angles and color reproduction are measurably worse than those which are IPS. I’m personally a fan of the 900p resolution, but some people would rather it have been 1080p. The speakers are weak and limited despite the inclusion of the gimmicky Soundblaster utility software. Also, there is virtually no customization to be had in the BIOS – no way to adjust voltages or fan settings.

Other Thoughts: Regarding matters of price, the current price for the GE40 is extremely competitive when it comes to specs and features. I think this even bests the $1150 Lenovo y510p deal on this site a few days ago (which didn’t include a real SSD). If one’s in the market for a portable and persistent productivity/gaming laptop

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Consistent/reliable connection, detachable antennae

Cons: Changing to wireless bridge mode breaks the webserver so you can't log in to change settings. Hasn't been a problem as the connection hasn't dropped. Pretty much just turn it on and it works. I'm told a hard reset will bring it back, but I haven't had a reason to do so. I didn't buy it to tinker with settings, so I'm not that concerned, but enough of a problem to dock an egg.

Other Thoughts: Better connection than an older Linksys WRT54G running DDWRT in a client/bridge mode.

2 out of 5 eggsPiece of junk

Pros: Nice weight nice screen while it worked. Dell does not charge for returning the defective computer.
(Lenovo does)

Cons: The computer lasted 9 weeks and the motherboard died called tech support 800-624-9896 and they are sending me a fedex box postage paid and they will fix the issue and they promised not to touch the hard drive

Other Thoughts: Customer service was pleasant.

3 out of 5 eggsDid half the job

Pros: Very quiet fan, the rubber mounts it comes with actually work like a charm making the fan completely silent - cant even tell when it is on.

Cons: The airflow is not that great. I bought this because I wanted to get a fan that had more flow than my old old stock fan and was silent. This did half the job. Speedfan says this thing is running at 1600 rpm so I should be getting around 34 cfm. I dont know any home method to measure cfm nor do I have equipment but this pushes out less air then my noisy 7 year old stock fan and I'm pretty sure its not at 34 cfm at all. I put my hand to the fans exhaust and I barely feel a breeze. I think everything in my pc has gone up a few degrees (32ish-36ish). it was also quite a dime compared to other fans. Looks like I might be shopping around fans for a while till I find the perfect one.

Other Thoughts: Cause it's only three pin i cant tell when/if it will run at max speed so I can see some real results. I have a small case so I was hoping this would make a great main exhaust fan. I guess this would be perfect as a fan in the computer to just move air around but i wouldn't suggest buying it as a main exhaust.
If I see serious changes in temperatures on load I will probably return this fan and look around for another one. Shame I probably wont find one as quiet as this one.
