4 out of 5 eggsGreat quality speaker for the money

Pros: Sound quality, high wife approval factor, size, driver quality and materials. Great bang for the buck! Fills an 18x18x12 room just fine. Can be driven hard and respectably loud - thanks Energy!

Cons: Only 89 db ... could be a bit more efficient. High gloss materials might be a con for some (I fine with this and was aware they show all going in).
Not related to the speakers ... but New Egg's promo codes are way too close to each other - so careful when you buy - New Egg won't even honor it's own sales prices within 2 weeks of purchase - I really you New Egg but - you should have a 30 day price promise honoring at a minimum your own sales!

Other Thoughts: Good quality materials used the drivers - should provide good sound for years to come. Sound quality is good. Since frequency range starts at 115 Hz low bass is of course not there (as one would expect from a 3" woofer). Mids are just OK - takes a little tuning to get the sub volume just right. I'm using an AR PS SW12 - a 150 watt w/ 12" driver, have it set to 120 Hz and 1/2 volume, receiver set to 120 hz crossover too. Overall, as others have said this is a nice 5.1 system and a great overall value.

Also, not going to bash Bose, but for the money, these paired with a good powered sub have better realism, sound quality, and control - prefer them over my old AM-5's - no question - but this is just a personal preference.

5 out of 5 eggsGOOD Speakers!

Pros: 1. Price: I bought them at $170
2. Powerful + Clarity + Sound
3. Small size

For $170, it's hard to beat this price!

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I got this with my budget 5.1 setup. I also bought the following items with these speakers (total setup is less than $450):
Pioneer VSX-821-K 5.1-Channel 3D Ready A/V Receiver
Polk Audio PSW Series PSW10 Black 10-inch Powered Subwoofer

Good sound system overall!

4 out of 5 eggsGreat little speakers for the price

Pros: *Price
*Small size
*Good sound quality
*great piano finish

Got the speaker set at buck 50 on sale and that is a heck of a deal for the 5.0 sorround speakers. Great quality speakers, great looks, good construction.
good for movies and music.

Cons: *Not a con at this price I guess, but does not have a lot of power handling capabilities.
*Distorts at high volumes

Other Thoughts: These are great looking speakers and for the price are amazing set of small speakers for a starter home theater system. I read plenty of reviews before purchasing these speakers, and based on most of the reviews, these speakers are supposed to be amazing for movies and music, however I don't find that to be the case.

Had them long enough to be past break in period, have a brand new pioneer 921k receiver with enough power to each, and have tried different setup options for optimum sound, but they just don't sound as good as some other speakers I have tested for some music and sometimes movies.

Then again, I am talking about a complete home theater set , except sub, for the price of an average front channel speaker. Not a deal breaker at all.

4 out of 5 eggsImpressive sound in small package

Pros: The small footprint and piano black finish make for an elegant looking set of speakers. I've got the two fronts placed on either side of the TV and the two rears placed on stands right behind the couch and they all blend well. The Audyssey setup on my Denon AVR-1910 set the crossover on these to 110hz, which impressed me. Overall, the sound is very good for speakers this size, especially for the price.

Newegg customer service was terrific, as always.

Cons: The binding posts are limited and small. They don't accept banana plugs or spade lugs. If you're using anything larger than 14 gauge speaker wire, you might have a hard time getting it to fit.

Also, one of the pictures makes it look like the rear speakers are smaller, but they're not; all 4 satellites are interchangeable.

One of my speakers came with a defective woofer. I called Newegg to ask if they could send me a replacement speaker, but they said they can only ship a new set. Not wanting to throw away 4 good speakers, I called the MFG and they shipped me a new woofer to install myself. The process was relatively painless, but it would've been easier with metric torx wrenches. I made do with my standard set, but it was less than ideal. But it's nice to know these are easy to repair.

Other Thoughts: I have this set paired with a 12" PSW-505, which is placed in a corner. The sub is too boomy/powerful for these speakers where it is placed. I have the sub turned down to about 30% and still have to knock off 5db in the receiver settings. These speakers would probably be better paired with an 8" or 10" sub, or it could just be the fact that I have the sub in a corner. I had to put my tower speakers and big center channel in storage for the time being and these have done well as replacements. When I can hook my big speakers back up, I plan to use these as replacements for the Logitech z906 satellites.

I measured the resistance on these at 4.4ohms with a multimeter, but all the specs say they are rated at 8ohms. Not sure why that is, but I'm not an electrician.

5 out of 5 eggsWonderful

Pros: Great sound for a small size
Good looking
Great Price

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Looked at the reviews before buying and definitely agree with top notch reviews. If your looking for a budget 5 ch system that will be able to produce good sound at the cost of space than this is your compromise.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Speakers & Great Customer Service

Pros: The speakers sound great. They are working off of a Onkyo TX-NR 509 5.1 receiver and fill the room with rich, clear, nuanced surround sound. Their small profile, high gloss finish, great sound and inexpensive price makes these speakers ideal for anyone looking for high quality surround sound speakers.

Cons: High gloss, black finish can lead to fingerprinting. Nothing a clean, soft cotton cloth can't fix however.

Other Thoughts: After setting up the speakers I was disappointed to discover one of the satellite speakers was blow out. However, this was a situation promptly remedied when I reached out to the manufacturer to ask about a replacement. Their customer service was great and they turned a potential negative situation into a positive experience.

As a consumer, it seems that more and more companies are treating customer service like it’s a necessary evil, a drain on the bottom line and nothing more than a division of the business whose expenses should be reduced as much as humanly possible. To experience the type of customer service Klipsch Group, Inc. provided was like a breath of fresh air and was truly appreciated. They promptly replaced the speaker and within a few weeks my set was again complete and sounding great.

5 out of 5 eggsImpressive speakers

Pros: I purchased the Take 5 Classic system over a year ago from Newegg. Originally, I used the center channel and two of the satellites (as surrounds) in a 5.0 configuration with a pair of old AR-3 speakers (as fronts) and used the two remaining speakers in a living room stereo system.
Recently, I bought an Energy ESW-M6 subwoofer from Newegg to complement the full set of Take 5 speakers in a 5.1 system in my master bedroom. The sound quality is amazing. They are a great value.

Cons: If you're going to wall mount them, you really should use wall mounts because the included hangers don't hold the speakers in a fixed position.

Other Thoughts: Add a sub such as the ESW-M6 to complete a very nice 5.1 surround system.

5 out of 5 eggsBest small speaker system money can buy

Pros: If you're looking to maximize your investment in speakers on a budget, look no further, these are it! After researching small speaker systems to install in my house, nothing seemed better than these. I've installed them and I'm powering them with a Denon AVR-1912. They sound absolutely amazing. I was pretty conservative initially for about the first 50 hours but now, I can't turn my volume up high enough to distort them.

Cons: The only con I have isn't really a fault with the speakers and more so with my current setup. I have a 12" Velodyne sub and there is a minimal frequency range that gets lost. So, if you're going to get the Energy Take Classic 5 (without the sub), have no more than a 10" subwoofer. However, if you don't have a subwoofer, opt to spend a little more and purchase the Energy Take Classic 5.1 system.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat small speakers

Pros: The Energy theater speakers are really good. I had older "huge" pioneer's . These energy are well worth the money. Got them for the $150.00. Wife loves the smaller concealed "shiny" speakers. Buy um!!!!

Cons: none
