The L4 is a handy, unbelievably bright LED flashlight that's powered by 3 AAAA alkaline cells (included). The light weight, slim profile design fits neatly in your pocket and comfortably in your hand. A tail button switch provides quick on/off or momentary activation. The clip is virtually unbreakable because it is molded to the xenoy body as one unit. And because it is molded out of polycarbonate resin, it won't cause sparks and is safe to use in electrical environments.
Great for working on computers
This review is from: Pelican 1830-010-110 L4 1830 LED Flashlight, Black
Pros: This flashlight is lightweight, bright, and has no exterior metal parts, thus making it perfect for working inside computers. As every sysadmin and computer tech knows, staff conspire to put desktop computers in the smallest, darkest, dingiest places possible--this light is optimal for such conditions. It has two "on" modes: 1) hold the clicker at the end down and the light stays on for as long as you hold it down; and 2) press the clicker hard and it stays on until you press it hard again. It is small and light enough to put between my teeth for working with both hands. It comes with batteries!
Cons: It takes a lot of pressure to get the light to stay on, so it would be difficult to use in this mode for people who don't have a strong grip. The batteries are a somewhat odd type, 4A, but I would guess that's to keep it smaller.
Other Thoughts: So far, so good. The only thing I wonder about is the fact that the bulb is not replaceable. I suppose this could be an issue, but the bulb is rated for 10,000 hours, so if it lasts as advertised, I could use it for an hour a day for nearly 30 years. Up to this point, I can say that this Pelican product is definitely NOT for the birds! :)
