With the best HD content and Airply, there is always something good on TV. The new Apple TV with 1080p HD gives you access to the best content — blockbuster movies, TV shows, sports, your music and photos, and more — right on your widescreen TV. You can even play content from your iOS devices on your TV using AirPlay.

  • newegg Great HD content Choose from thousands of current and classic movies and TV episodes from iTunes – many in stunning 1080p HD. And watch movies and TV shows from Netflix, browse videos from YouTube and Vimeo, and see live MLB, NBA, and NHL games, scores, stats, and more.
  • newegg Give your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch some airtime With AirPlay, you can wirelessly stream content from your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch to your widescreen TV via Apple TV. So if you want to watch a movie stored on one of your devices, you don’t need to buy or rent it again to watch it on the best screen in the house. You can also stream home movies, photos, or videos from websites and AirPlay-enabled apps. And with AirPlay Mirroring, you can display the screen of your iPad or iPhone 4S on your HDTV. So when you tap, swipe, pinch, or play something, it shows up on the big screen — ideal for sharing entertainment with friends or showing off your gaming skills (or lack thereof).
  • newegg Store it in iCloud. Watch it on Apple TV With iCloud, you can buy movies and TV shows on Apple TV and watch them on your iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, Mac, or PC. And vice versa, iCloud also stores your photos and pushes them wirelessly to all your devices — including your HDTV via Apple TV. It’s the easiest way to get instant access to your content, no matter which device you’re using.
  • newegg Small. Powerful. Efficient Quiet, energy efficient, and so small it fits in the palm of your hand, Apple TV sits neatly on a TV stand or in a crowded media cabinet. When it’s not filling your living room with drama, romance, and comedy, it uses less power than a night-light. And the included Apple Remote makes it easy to get to your favorite entertainment.
  • newegg Easy setup Setting up Apple TV takes almost no time at all. Just plug the power cord into the wall and connect Apple TV to your widescreen TV using an HDMI cable (sold separately). Since everything streams wirelessly to Apple TV using your Wi-Fi network, that’s all you need. Except for the popcorn.

1 out of 5 eggsMeh'

Pros: If you do not own a smart TV, this will pickup the slack.

Cons: As usual, this device is completely locked down by Apple.

Basically, if you did not buy the movie from Apple, you cant watch it with this.

Can't access shared network drives, no 3rd party apps.

Basically, a 21st century calculator, when compaired to simular products that were not made by Apple.

Other Thoughts: If you plan on buying this to connect it to a smart TV, DON'T.

The only difference between a smart TV, and a smart TV with an Apple TV connected to it is the $100 you spent on Apple TV.

I think Apple makes great hardware, but their greed tends to ruin their products.

This device is more than capable of doing some pretty amazing things.

But Apple decided they don't want you to do enjoy anything on here that you did not buy through iTunes.

Such a shame.

3 out of 5 eggsAirplay

Pros: Airplay greatness.

Cons: Lack of content for Internet TV. Price. Some of the Channels are lacking in features compared to competitors. Remote looks cool, but best to use with all in one remote.

Other Thoughts: AppleTV is worth it if you will use Airplay, but if you are looking for a device for Internet TV then you will want to look at something else as there are very few apps (channels) compared to Roku and others. Roku interface is also better and easier to use, but not as pretty.

4 out of 5 eggsGood features, some things missing

Pros: Awesome device with many features you won't find on a normal media streamer. The AirPlay mirroring that allows you to stream an iOS device's entire screen to the Apple TV makes it worth the price alone.

Cons: In classrooms at work, only being able to connect with Bonjour to stream to the device hinders its AirPlay ability greatly. Only dinging it one egg for not providing another connection issue because that's partially a network design choice. App expandability seems to be at Apple's mercy. They don't add a lot of options with any regularity.

4 out of 5 eggsapple tv

Pros: Airplay is awesome. Can connect directly to Iphone and Ipad. It can also connect via itunes for home sharing. Well built media player.

Cons: Doesn't play all the format like xvid, mkv, some avi. Only play quicktime, mpg 4 and a few others. If apple tv can play these format, it would be a far better media player.

2 out of 5 eggsCould be awesome

Pros: Airplay is pretty dang cool, Interface is awesome... as usual.

Cons: This thing is way too locked down on what it *could* do. Cant stream from DLNA or UPnP, or network shares. Can only access media from apples sources. Not very many streaming channels, no further expansion by way of apps.

Other Thoughts: I was very disappointed in this product. If you like living within the framework of the apple ecosystem (itunes, etc.) then this thing I'm sure is great. If you want to do anything else with it then you'll end up returning it (especially since you cant jailbreak it yet). It does what it advertises really well... it just doesn't do a whole lot. Once apple opens this up to an app store and its able to run 3rd party apps/software like the iphone and ipad it'll be a five star for sure. If there was a jailbreak for it I'd give it 4 :)

5 out of 5 eggs Got Cable TV?

Pros: Apple TV 3 is an excellent Media Streamer for HD content.

Movie and TV shows are very good quality (both contents are HD, 720 SD and 1080p HD)

Perfect replacement for Cable TV, just buy the Shows you would like to watch and not what's forced on you by Huge Cable Providers!

Cons: Lack of a internet browser, but with an iPad you can use airplay to mirror the device.

1 issue I did notice when upgrading firmware, it must be done under the WI-FI connection. It appears to be a problem updating Firmware while connected to LAN port (it will time out and not update the unit).

Other Thoughts: I hear a lot of people complaining in general in reviews about products, maybe because they either expect to much or don't have a clue about what they purchased.

Apple TV is not a HTPC it's a Media Streamer! ( if your looking for a full feature HTPC this product is not for you.)

If your looking for a Media streamer, Apple TV is about the best i've seen and used in conjunction with a HTPC it's even better.

I dumped "Crumbcast" cable service and could not be happier. I watch what i want in HD all the time with Apple TV unlike Crumbcast!

IPTV is the feature of Television and it's here now!

1 out of 5 eggsDisapointed

Pros: Idea and cost are great.

Cons: Does not work.

Other Thoughts: Worked for about a week. Now it will connect to wifi or any other of my Apple devices. Will not connect to internet,my iPhotos or will it connect for an update. I have read in forums that many other people have had this same problem. If I could I would return it.
