Polk's Monitor Series has been the gold standard of speakers since the 1970's. This current generation features clear, accurate sound with strong bass and exceptional aural imaging. Polk made the enclosures out of MDF to be of a uniform density and not resonate. They've also included ¾" thick baffles to help produce clear lifelike sound.
The 5.25" cone is made from a bi-laminate composite for an optimal balance of weight and rigidity. The small driver delivers a wide open sound and exceptional responsiveness. The 1" tweeter is a fabric/polymer composite the responds swiftly to the high efficiency Neodymium magnet. The crossovers between the drivers use Mylar bypass capacitors to let all of the details in the higher frequencies shine through.
No matter how good they sound, they have to look good too. Their contemporary look complements today's flat panel televisions and modern decorating styles.
Pros: Price, Price, Price. The sound quality is very good and for $100, they exceeded my expectations. Their strong suit - surround sounds. I am pleased with this purchase
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: Take a look at Polk, they make good sounding products at affordable prices. You could pay a lot more and end up with a lot less.

Pros: Priced very well for a quality product. Super speedy shipping. Could not find a better deal out there. Really, two POLK bookshelf speakers for 89 bucks and free shipping! Can not beat that deal anywhere. These speakers are awesome for the price.
Cons: Wish I had a new egg store down the road so I could shop there if one existed.

Pros: -Flat Response -Detailed, Balanced Sound -Great Power Handling -Good Sensitivity -Bi-Amp, Bi-Wire Capable -Decent Binding Post -Simple, Attractive Design
Cons: -Sensitive To Placement -Grilles Are Fragile (Look Better Without Them Though) -Expose How Bad Compressed Music Really Sounds (Actually A Pro, But If You Think That MP3s Sound Pretty Good These Will Change Your Mind)
Other Thoughts: I bought these to replace the satellites on the Logitech Z-2300 speaker system in my office. My setup consist of a SB Extigy external sound card fed via USB from my PC and via TOSLINK from a Sony ES CD player. I initially powered them with the Z-2300 amplifier (40x2 RMS) and immediately appreciated the even response and detailed highs. Night and day difference from the Z-2300 speakers. 320 kbps MP3s sounded good, FLAC better and CDs fantastic. Out of curiosity, I then powered them with a Yamaha Integrated Amp (100x2 RMS, bi-wired), leaving the Z-2300 sub to handle the low end. Wow! Though they sounded good with the Z-2300 amp, the extra power really brought them to life. Right now I'm listening to the MFSL reissue of Pink Floyd's "The Wall" and I am amazed at how good they sound for such a low price. This is my second Polk purchase and though they in no way compare to the Polk LSi system in my entertainment room, like the LSi's they are a fantastic value for the price.
