Polk's Monitor Series has been the gold standard of speakers since the 1970's. This current generation features clear, accurate sound with strong bass and exception aural imaging. Polk made the enclosures out of MDF to be of a uniform density and not resonate. They've also included ¾" thick baffles to help produce clear lifelike sound.
The two 5.25" cones are made from a bi-laminate composite for an optimal balance of weight and rigidity. The small driver delivers a wide open sound and exceptional responsiveness. The 1" tweeter is a fabric/polymer composite the responds swiftly to the high efficiency Neodymium magnet. The crossovers between the drivers use Mylar bypass capacitors to let all of the details in the higher frequencies shine through.
No matter how good they sound, they have to look good too. Their contemporary look complements today's flat panel televisions and modern decorating styles.

Pros: Clear, full-spectrum sound, bi-wiring is pretty cool, HALF-PRICE!
Great imaging, depth, and treble for this price. Big, room filling sound.
Cons: Size might be a problem for some, but these fit on my desk just fine...
Other Thoughts: I bought these without previously hearing them, because the deal was so good. Boy am I impressed. I have a Yamaha receiver and Yamaha speakers (which I was VERY happy with to begin with, and have returned other speakers due to their inferiority). I figured these Polk's retail for as much as my amp, so they must be good--they are.
Very clear highs (I am very picky about my treble), with great depth and placement. I use a subwoofer to fill in the low-end. If you choose to bi-wire these, make sure to take off the brass jumper; then each terminal will individually control the woofers and tweeter (a cool concept that produces results to my ear, placebo-effect or not...)
The Monitor 40s seem to be very neutral sounding, maybe leaning a little to the warm side. They handle the sounds of multiple instruments very well, and separate each one accurately. Like Grado headphones, because they are so accurate, you will easily notice when a recording is low quality or badly produced!

Pros: I bought thes to go with a pair of monitor 70's and they mate real nice I guess seamless would be the word i'm looking for. If you do'nt want the 70's then 4 of these would work great just dont think they are going to put out alot of bass ,They wont so you need a sub if you want boom. For the money you can't go wrong I can can tell you first hand i know times are tuff and if it was not for this sale i would not own then. They replaced a bose speaker system i had and i don't regret it at all it was a big improvement. Now i as well as U know ther is better out there and if you got the coins go for it if you want to save some coins do your self a big favor and check these out. I have them hooked up to a onkyo TX-DS6565 and the amp has never sound better the other speakers i have used and still own are infinty and bose and there for sale..
Cons: None realy " Not for the price anyway but when you first hook them up you have to give them some break in time befor they realy start sounding good I could here a difference after only 4 hours of playing @ 1/4 to 1/3 volume and the more i use them the better detail they seem to have..
Other Thoughts: I'm glad newegg had these for the cheep man there a good company to deal with and get your stuff out fast so you can start using you goods quick. Thanks Newegg :>)

Thank You again NewEgg, you are the best!!!

Pros: These are a steal at 130 bucks. I only use them for a modest 2 channel stereo in my 15X18 living room. I listen to just about every kind of music and they sound great. You are not going to rattle windows with them, but for accuracy, they can't be beat. I may add a sub to round out the lows.
Cons: None for me, but they are 12" deep with rear-firing ports, so wall mounting might be an issue for some. I have them on stands about 8" from the wall, so they are perfect.
Other Thoughts: I ordered them on a Friday morning, they were shipped Friday late afternoon and got here the following Tuesday. I will order again from Newegg.

Pros: I got theses speakers delivered last Friday. First off it only took approximately 48hrs from order to delivery. Newegg is all over it.
I have these speakers hooked up to an older Yamaha receiver and they sound awesome. I know they will sound even better once I upgrade the receiver. The clarity when watching movies or listening to music is amazing. I have these 2 speakers as my fronts and a CS1 Polk centerspeaker hooked up. I don't have rear speakers yet and the sound is still incredible. I have been shopping for awhile so I know whats out there. Buy these you won't be disappointed.
Cons: If you are planning on hanging them I doubt these are good for your plan.
