Pros: FANTASTIC speakers for the price. I purchased a pair from a shellshocker deal for just under $80 each. These are my first pair of floorstanding speakers personally, but I have grown up in a household with an audiophile stepfather and subsequently know what a good set of speakers should sound like. Hooked them up to my Denon AVR 3300 and B&W ASW 1000 (Hand-me-downs from my aforementioned stepfather) and it was just magic. Crystal clear and brilliant. Yes, there are better speakers out there....but at the price these are extremely hard to beat. I personally use them in a 2.1 configuration for my hifi setup, but after a little experimentation I can conclude they would make a great set of front L/R channels for a 5.1/7.1/etc home theater system....or even as surrounds if you've got the space/money.

Cons: NOT for those looking for space saving/slimline setups. This will be a problem with ANY pair of quality. full-size floorstanders. When trying them out in a surround-sound setup, they made my 32" flatscreen look much smaller in comparison to the Energy satellites I hade previously. While not as big as some of their bigger models with 6.5" drivers, these are still plenty large, especially when on either side of a 32" screen in a tiny apartment.

Also, These do not produce a whole lot of bass. I do not know of any floorstanders under $100 with 5.25" drivers that do. while not bass is not absent, it's not really pounding either. Pair them with just about any quality subwoofer in order to get a fuller range of sound.

Other Thoughts: GREAT speakers for those who, like me, are just starting their home audio system(s) and/or are on a budget. Just out of college, I can't exactly afford anything more expensive nor do I want to buy something that will become obsolete once I start upgrading other components. For the $80/ea that I spent, these babies are a great deal and will stick with my for years to come.

Pros: Great price, bought it for $99.99 each. During sales at newegg you can get this for 80 bucks a pop. I used to have a Mirage Uni-Theater and the L-R effect + the lows were not that great. This unit gives great sound, my wife was saying that the sound is definitely better than the old unit. I would still recommend a sub to go with this set. I have a black colored media center, this speaker fits right in with the unit. I love the sound coming out of these units, both for music and movies. This unit is bi-amp able, just found out last week. I bi-amped the units and the sound is definitely better now. If you have the space, this a really good buy.

Cons: The unit does not stand straight on carpets, its always leaning a little left/right.
Not the most visually appealing set of speakers.

Other Thoughts: Great shipping and handling from Newegg. I am still learning to utilize my receiver (its 2 years old and I still dunno how to set the individual speakers). I have a CS10 as the center, a Mirage S-10 sub, Yamaha RX V565 receiver and a PS3 as my media console. I am thinking of putting the 50 pair as a surround unit and have polk 70s as L & R

Pros: Just what you expect from Polk. Outstanding quality, and craftmanship. Just love them.

Cons: Box was not easy carrying 2 of them up the 2 flights of steps lol

Other Thoughts: Looks killer standing beside my Mitsubishi 73inch HD tv. PS3/Xbox 360 and movies never sounded better. I need to order 2 more!!

Newegg shipping is out standing ordered weds, shipped out on thurs, got them on friday. Got these on sale for $89 each and UPS did there job, slight box damage but didn't hurt or mark the speakers, packed well.

Pros: These speakers sound great for all types of music, they really stand out when playing rock. Highs are not tinny, midrange is clear, build quality is sound(ha!).

Cons: The color scheme is lousy with the silver lining and feet, you need a subwoofer with these.

Other Thoughts: I was very impressed with the sound quality from these speakers. I've owned many different brands from Whardedale, Klipsch, BIC, etc and the Polks sound just as good if not better.

Pros: Extremely fast shipping , as it always is. These speakers sound excellent, very warm and responsive. It is a great compliment to the monitor 30's I'm using for my surround channels, I can hear things I never heard with my old system. Got them on sale for a price I couldn't beat anywhere I looked.

Cons: Size. This is not necessarily a con, I knew how big they were when I got them. This could be a problem for some people.

Other Thoughts: For those that prefer to use banana plugs all you have to do is pop the little red or black cap out of the top of the speaker connector.

Pros: The Polk Audio Monitor 50's made an excellent addition to my HT. I am using them as new front speakers in my apartment. Live music CD and DVD's both sound amazing. Connected to a Sony head unit (110 watts per) and they sound GREAT.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Excellent service from new egg, as always.

Pros: Good sound, decent price.

Cons: Didn't think they were much better than the Monitor 40s that I own. One of the two I bought wobbles a little.

Other Thoughts: These were my first floor standing polks and I excepted better quality from past experience.

Pros: These suckers are nice and clear and the highs out of that neo-dymium tweet are great. That is a great metal to use in speakers due to its strong magnetic force. Most premium speaker products and headphones are going to use this type of material.

Cons: For the price its a steal and the free shipping just make this a no brainer. These things are heavy and without free shipping it would probably hurt the deal.

Other Thoughts: Just a great way to get some real sound if your lacking.

Other Thoughts: i currently have it in a pair using bi-amp, it works great and sounds alright. i would rate these on the lower end of floor standing speakers but beats any bookshelf ones.

i went from Athena S5 Series to these in surround, it does sound better for DTS-MA tracks but everything else is about the same.

Pros: Price, sound, looks. I got them for 89.00 each. I have better sounding more expensive speakers but for 89.00 these are just amazing. Since I'm using these for HT, I knew I was getting a sub. The drivers are a bit small for use without a sub. Music would be ok but HT would me a ungood.

Cons: Cheap looking legs. Directions are the worst! There are 4 binding posts and gold plate, which is the jumper. I used the top posts but it shouldn't matter with the plate in place.

Other Thoughts: I wanted to bring my old HT setup to 2010 and I wanted it done in the cheapest fashion at this time. Even if the price is higher then the 89.00, you're getting some great speakers.
