Polk's Monitor Series has been the gold standard of speakers since the 1970's. This current generation features clear, accurate sound with strong bass and exception aural imaging. Polk made the enclosures out of to be uniform in density and not resonate. They've also included ¾" thick baffles to help produce clear lifelike sound.
The three 5.25" cones are made from a bi-laminate composite for an optimal balance of weight and rigidity. The small driver delivers a wide open sound and exceptional responsiveness. The 1" tweeter is a fabric/polymer composite the responds swiftly to the high efficiency Neodymium magnet. The crossovers between the drivers use Mylar bypass capacitors to let all of the details in the higher frequencies shine through.
No matter how good they sound, they have to look good too. Their contemporary look compliments today's flat panel televisions and modern decorating styles. They're magnetically shielded so you can place them near your electronics. The slim design takes up less than one square foot.

Pros: Good, accurate sound. Bi-amp capability is nice and does seem to make a small difference, though not great. Tweeters are well-balanced, woofers provide excellent midrange. Bass response at directional frequencies is better than I expected for a tower at this price.
Cons: You can get acceptable sound without a subwoofer by FM radio / analog TV / VHS standards, which is to say it won't sound terrible, but it won't sound very good either. These really come alive as part of a system that includes a good sub, and conversely they're a waste without one.
Other Thoughts: Bi-amping these does yield noticable results, but not tremendous. I wouldn't go out of my way for it; any good amp will be able to drive these in a mono-amp configuration with no issues whatsoever. Also, these are pretty big towers, at least by apartment living room standards, and are somewhat bigger than the Monitor 50s. They come almost to head level when seated. They're not going to replace any end tables or anything, but still, make sure you have room.
To get the most out of these, pair them with a Polk CS2 center channel, and a PSW125 subwoofer or other good 12" sub. If you haven't already, read up on other speakers within the Polk Monitor series so your configuration will be well-matched. I used these for both front and surround speakers, but I think I'm going with the Monitor 30 or 40 bookshelf speakers (same woofer/tweeter, just fewer of the woofers) for rear surround when/if I upgrade to 7.1.

Above Average Sound, Excellent for Price

Pros: These speakers exceeded my expectations. I am already a Polk speaker fan and have 4 sets in the house. These Monitor 60s are the lowest end of any of them but have very acceptable sound. They look good, and have a wood cabinet. Treble and midrange accuracy is above average, bass is average for the cabinet size. For the price and great Newegg shipping and service it is a STEAL.
Cons: Compared to my Polk RTi tower speakers in my home theatre these speakers are less accurate. The lowest point for these monitors is when listening to dance music and the music gets 'busy'. The sound doesn't stay distinct and tends to bleed together. The grey plastic legs are cheesy and don't have any leveling capability for uneven wood floors, etc. I'd prefer them to be all black, the silver trim is dated.
Other Thoughts: I have these in my living room, a rather large open area, 20 x 20 foot, and they fill the room with sound - no distortion up to the limit of comfortable listening. I do NOT have a sub on these and am powering them with a mid-range Onkyo receiver (110wx2). I find they have acceptable bass for most music listening. TV audio quality thru HD is fine, but it doesn't wow. Mine arrived undamaged.

Pros: These speakers sound and look great. Some reviews say they look a little cheap, but I don't think so. Sure, the TSi400's look better, but why pay twice as much? I love the perfect heigth of these speakers as they will be at ear level when you're sitting on the couch. I paired these on the front with some 50's in the rear and a CS10 in the center. I paid a little more for the CS10 just because it is sitting on a piano black stand.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: Great value, great sound, great shipping...all around great experience from New Egg. Get you a set...you won't be sorry.

Pros: I replaced a set of Polk RM75's with these matched with a CS1 center channel for the front stage and it is a night and day difference. I'm VERY happy with these. Great sound for the money.
Cons: Size, but there isn't much you can do about that.
Other Thoughts: Denon 889 Klipsch Sub-12 Polk Audio Monitor 60 Polk CS1 center Polk Audio RM7B's for surrounds (I'm limited on space)

Pros: Great! I am very happy with these speakers. I have two Monitor 60's and a Polk CS10 center channel running from a Onkyo HT-RC160. I will be adding rears and a sub when I move, but for the size apartment I'm currently in (small) I feel I can get by without a sub. Watching Blu-Rays (especially music) is a completely changed experience from before. I recently owned a set of bookshelf Klipsch speakers and there is no comparison. There are better speakers out there, but for the money there are superb (as long as you have space for big floor-standing speakers).
Cons: Big, but I knew that going in and actually prefer the look of larger speakers.
