Polk's Monitor Series has been the gold standard of speakers since the 1970's. The CS1 center channel is a perfect accompaniment with accurate sound with strong bass and exception aural imaging. Polk made the enclosures out of MDF to be uniform in density and not resonate. They've also included ¾" thick baffles to help produce clear lifelike sound.
The two 6.5" cones are made from a bi-laminate composite for an optimal balance of weight and rigidity. The small driver delivers a wide open sound and exceptional responsiveness. The 1" tweeter is a fabric/polymer composite the responds swiftly to the high efficiency Neodymium magnet. The crossovers between the drivers use Mylar bypass capacitors to let all of the details in the higher frequencies shine through.
No matter how good they sound, they have to look good too. Their contemporary look compliments today's flat panel televisions and modern decorating styles. They are magnetically shielded so you can place them near your electronics.

Pros: Clean crisp, voices. I have Polk RC60s in-wall for my surrounds and they match very well. Hardly any distortion even when you crank it up compared to my old center from a theater in a box package.
Cons: Huge size, will not fit inside many tv stand shelves, Can overpower front speakers
Other Thoughts: Great for the money. These are available at Best Buy for much MORE than Newegg prices!

Pros: High's and mid's sound great on this bad boy. Speech comes out clear and concise. The bass is also quite good for a non-sub speaker.
Cons: The price has gone up since I bought it? Oh and it's kind of large.
Other Thoughts: Since I began putting together a 7.1 setup months ago, I have consistently turned to Polk for their quality and budget friendly products. I have two sets of stereo speakers by them, and a 10" sub, connected to a Sony receiver, and the sound quality is amazing. It's hard to imagine I used to listen to stereo sound for movies and 360 games.

Pros: Excellent! Precise clarity across the entire center channel spectrum! This is the perfect match to any polk monitor speaker -- no questions asked... And with the considerable price drop, it is now the same cost as the CS1 was a few months back... GET IT! BUT....
Cons: Its ginormous! You can read all the reviews on here and elsewhere and you may come across quite a few comments on the size of this speaker... There is no way to visualize the size of this speaker just by reading that it is HUGE. For your own sake, unless you have tons of real estate in your home theatre region, make sure this speaker will fit your setup! MEASURE, MEASURE, MEASURE! Or your girlfriend/boyfriend/wife/hubby or whatever your significant other may be will be highly disturbed... Buying a complete 5.1 monitor line and the Onkyo 870 forced me to buy a new setup for my TV so it would accomodate everything, and I still messed up... I was a 1/2 inch off in my "assumed visual measurement" and couldnt fit the center speaker in the dedicated center speaker shelf of my newly acquired TV stand... sooo, I had to put this beast on the shelf above the TV and the Onkyo in the center channel shelf. The misses, who picked out the stand, is not very happy....
Other Thoughts: If your ever faced with your significant other being upset about your new investment, just keep on buying her bottles of wine... eventually, he/she will just move on and find something else to complain about! But by that time, you can just crank your system and drown them out! ;-)

Pros: I'm Done! This baby goes with my monitor 70s in the front like bread and butter. Even the Deaf shall HEAR! Sometimes it seems like you can hear the sound-man adjusting sliders while the soundtrack was laid down. The clarity is astounding but standard operating procedure for Polk Audio products. I wish I could hook them up to a really high end tuner but I don't even know anyone who can shell out 6 G's for a receiver and my Marantz SR6003 is as sweet as anything I've heard anyway. Our ears only have so much ability anyhoo.
Cons: Somebody said "It's Soo Big!" Well Yeah! that's why they print the dimensions in the specs. so you will know what you're buying. It fits perfectly in my cabinet cause I built it to those specs.
Other Thoughts: I know these "monitor series" speakers have been around a very long time and they're a little "boxy" in design when compared to the new generation Polk and other manufacturers speakers, I mean have you ever seen a set of Beo 5s from Bang & Olfsen? They are positively "Space Age" and they sound Amazing but I would NEVER spend that kind of money, even if I had it! I spent 15 years shopping in Pawn shops to find my B&O turntable and that's the only way I can afford High End gear. I digress... This center speakers sound is as clean and crisp as any I've listened to and I can't imagine having anything better.

Pros: Clear and crisp.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: I can hear my movies much better. I bought this to replace my 10yo Bose center after I bounced it off its shelf one too many times. When playing music loud, the Polk also had a tendency to wander, even with the rubber feet mounted. Duct tape solved that. (Have old plaster walls and don't mess with them unless absolutely necessary; no speaker mounting allowed.) Bounced all of my framed photos off the mantel. I don't consider that a con. I don't really like those people anyway : ) It's big, but it's good.
