Polk's PSW10 powered subwoofer is designed to match with their Monitor Series speakers. The compact enclosure is made from non-resonant MDF with 0.75" internal baffling and bracing for rock solid performance with superlative detail and accuracy.
The voice coil of the 10" driver is perfectly centered in its magnetic field for deep bass with no distortion. The built in amplifier has a 50W continuous output with 100W of peak power. An overall 35Hz to 200Hz frequency response is attenuated by an adjustable 80Hz to 160Hz crossover so you can tune the output to match the rest of your speakers.
The back panel has both line level and speaker level inputs so you can use the PSW10 with virtually any amplifier. There is also a phase switch for additional fine tuning of the sound. The "auto" selection on the power switch lets the subwoofer turn itself off after 15 minutes of no signal and turn itself back an almost instantaneously, leaving you free to enjoy the music and not worry about turning things on and off.
Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: For a relatively scant 50 watts this thing proves power isn't everything. It may not set off the car alarms, but it certainly add the kind of bass that really enhances surround sound without being too in-your-face. Great sound quality that blends well with Polk speakers' Dynamic Balance.
Cons: I've never really seen what it can do, but it did seem fall behind from my system when I pushed everything a little overboard. This is where the Wattage might become a problem. I have a well focused (100 hz roughly and higher) 85 Watts X 5. You'd probably need more power from a sub if you were pushing 120 watts per channel.
Other Thoughts: At $150 bucks you won't be disappointed. Polk really doesn't make a lousy product even at these prices.

Pros: this sub sounds considerably better than I expected. Clean and tight. The auto setup on my Pioneer said my subwoofer was too loud - Is that even possible lol.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: Can't be beat for the Newegg price.

Pros: cheap.
Cons: Similar to the other user review, When watching movies with some LFE it rattles. It seems the rattling sound is coming from the air duct. Never keep it above 50% volume. Not sure if it is defective or it just can't handle the LFE properly.

Pros: Nice and loud. Able to provide plenty of base to fill any household.
Cons: Developed a raddle within the box. At first I thought it was the front plastic plat but after further examination found it had to be something internal. Now every time there is a moment of a song or movie with high base all I hear is the raddle. I have to say this was a huge disappointment. I'll be contacting Newegg and Polk, hopefully I can get some sort of resolution.
Other Thoughts: I see others have had good experiences with these but I must have gotten the "bad egg".

Pros: Excellent value for the money. I have been impressed with this little sub's abilities. I was worried about the sound based on some of the specs. Now I have no more worries. For the price, you are not going to beat it. You will not be disappointed. So far this sub has hit every note on Eric Clapton's "One More Car, One More Rider" DVD, David Foster & Friends DVD, and my Apple TV filled all kinds of techno, rap, rock, etc.
Cons: You will need a Female to 2 Male splitter as this sub uses stereo RCA inputs instead of a mono LFE input. I found a splitter in my toolbox leftover from my car stereo installation days.
Other Thoughts: Unless your sub is right next to your TV or hard drive, I would not consider the lack of magnetic shielding a deal breaker. This sub has quite an impressive "boomy" sound to it, I am trying to find a middle ground setting that will fit all music preferences, especially at lower volumes. Be sure to to experiment with the crossover, sub output, and phase adjustments. I messed with the knobs, and ended up with them back in their factory setting. I switched the speaker phase to 180, I got crazy bass and a few more neighbors that hate me when I am watching the Terminator movies and Bad Boys II.
Everyone's ears are different. Everyone likes a different sound. Let your ears try this sub, and with a few adjustments, you probably will not be disappointed.
