Polk Audio PSW Series PSW10 Black 10in. Powered Subwoofer

Description

The PSW10 subwoofer fills in the bottom end of your home theater system so your main speakers only reproduce the mid and high frequencies, not perform bass duty, too. If you're looking for your first subwoofer, look no further than the PSW10. It's a great solution for completing your sound system and will take your viewing experience, movies, games and TV to a higher level of enjoyment.

PSW10
PSW10
PSW10

Don't make your front stage speakers do all the work. Instead, add a subwoofer to your system. You'll free up your front stage to be more dynamic and expansive by letting the subwoofer take over the low frequency effects, the thrills of movies and the deep bass of soundtracks. We design the intelligent amplifiers in our subwoofers to filter the low frequencies cleanly and smoothly, for better blending with the full audio spectrum being reproduced by your main speakers. Easily accessible, professional-grade connections give you multiple options for hooking up, so you can tweak your performance according to your own system needs. Add a subwoofer - or two. And turn your TV watching into a wild ride and your music listening into a live-on-stage experience.

Don't Go Subwooferless
CNet.com says, "The PSW10's deep-bass capabilities were impressive, but its definition and control...were really special." Big, affordable, and fun. Add deep bass excitement and extended dynamic thrills to your music or movie sound system with an easy to choose, easy to connect, and easy to use powered subwoofer.

Features

PSW10
  • PSW enclosures are designed and engineered for perfect volume, minutely tuned for distortion-free low frequencies, and internally braced and damped to eliminate internal standing waves and other performance-robbing resonances.
  • Quality materials translate into better power handling, less wasted energy, and bigger, deep bass.
  • This unique configuration uses a specially tuned and directed port to more efficiently produce maximum bass impact.
  • Combining just the right driver materials, speaker geometry and enclosure construction techniques has a synergistic effect that produces cleaner, clearer sound. This is our patented Dynamic Balance® process, and it helps our woofers perform effortlessly under the stress of high output source material.
  • PSW subwoofers outperform the competition with durable, resonance-free Dynamic Balance driver materials that stay stiff and move fast. You experience deep, musical low frequencies and thrilling effects with superior system blending.
  • Our state-of-the-art Klippel distortion analyzer optimizes the woofer's motor structure, voice coil alignment and suspension for smooth, unimpeded movement over a broad spectrum of the lower frequencies to ensure the best, most efficient performance even at extreme listening levels.
  • Easily accessible, professional-grade line- and speaker-level inputs, and speaker level outputs, allow easy connection to any system.
  • Smart sensing circuitry knows when to turn itself on and off. Superior compression circuitry limits distortion at extreme volume levels. Intelligent amplifier also features adjustable low-pass crossover, phase switch and subwoofer volume controls to professionally control your bass output and the subwoofer's blending characteristics with your front stage speakers.
  • PSW Series subwoofers blend perfectly with systems composed of other Polk loudspeakers, especially TSi, RM and R/T/M Series speakers.
  • Unique design keeps your subwoofer stable and steady even at radical volume levels, for more efficient use of power. No more "escaped washing machine" syndrome.
  • All Polk products are made using the best materials and the most advanced manufacturing techniques. They pass the industry's most exhaustive quality tests, including drop testing, extreme signal response and UV and salt exposure testing. Polk loudspeakers are built to perform for a lifetime.

5 out of 5 eggsPolk Audio 10Eggs!!!

Pros: I have this connect to my 60$ Vizio sound bar at the moment and it's just what I needed. For the lack of bass in my cheap sound bar I thought I would just buy a sub woofer to connect too it. Really great sound. Plan on buying the Zvox soundbase 555 and connecting the Polk too that.

Cons: None

4 out of 5 eggsGreat quality and sound for the price!

Pros: Great sound and easy setup. Rich base and packs more punch the subwoofers anywhere in it's price range. It's also quite large.

Cons: Make sure to get a splitter cable to ensure it goes into both ports. I have a receiver that uses a composite subwoofer cable (not left and right). You can tell the difference when you just plug into one of the L/R ports. It also turns the sub on faster vs just connecting into one port.

5 out of 5 eggsSuperb Quality from Polk

Pros: Deep clean Bass. Replacing a 10 y/o Yamaha Subwoofer, and the sound of this new Polk Subwoofer is very satisfying.

Cons: I do have turn down the level depending on the source.
ie.. DirecTV, home Theatre PC, or Internet radio.
Sometimes too powerful, and must be turned down.

Other Thoughts: I was worried, but when the price was reduced , I took the plunge. I was blown away at the power of this sub, connected to a new. Denon HT receiver, and my 14 y/o
Polk Seattleites. Overall I love this purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsGood quality for price

Pros: Good lows and mids.
Bass adds fullness to any home theatre system.
Purchased it for 130.

Cons: I haven't found anything wrong with this subwoofer. Everything has been working properly.

Other Thoughts: I did read a lot of reviews before taking ithe initiative to purchase it because i wanted something that was going to last me for a while down the road. So far iv'e had it for about six months and iv'e been happy with the quality of the reproduction of the bass. If anyone is contemplating on buying it, i would definitely recommend this product because it really does change your experience when hearing music, watching movies, or just hearing anything.

5 out of 5 eggsPolk PSW10

Pros: For the price, it's 6 out of 5 stars...if you get it for $89 or $69. The size is good. It's pretty small. Small enough to conceal. And it can hit hard. It shakes my house. I run it at 50% gain and it's plenty loud. You have to position it correctly and spend some time getting dialed in to be at it's best, but it hits hard for a small package at a low price. You will NOT be disappointed for this price. However, it's not perfect. It struggles over much more than 50% gain and it doesn't handle frequencies in the 100-120hz range (my estimate) all that great. It POUNDS low frequencies but peters out at around 100hz. I think the enclosure is too small and it's tuned wrong for what the driver can handle...but that's just my opinion. It is a GREAT sub for the money. It's great for movies...and really good for music if your are a music enthusiast. I very much enjoy the subwoofer...however I will be purchasing the 12" model by Polk soon. This 10" model disappears in the certain common frequencies and results in a change in listening quality since it slams at lower frequencies. However it could be I haven't dialed it in yet and found the ideal listening location. Don't get me wrong, for $89 (what I paid although I've seen it for $69) it is a FABULOUS subwoofer and it produces real, vent-rattling, neighbor-disturbing bass. It just lacks in the 100hz+ area compared to how HARD it hits at lower frequencies. But it's a very clean sound. And it looks great. The size is great...I think the small size and tuning is why it suffers where it does. If you can spring the extra $100 for the 12" sub, I'd say do it. But you will not be disappointed with the sub...not at all.

Cons: For the price there are no cons.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat value

Pros: Extends the low end of my bookshelf speakers so that music sounds the way it should.

I'm a former audio pro, but not a snob. This is good for a budget music system that won't need to fill a giant room.

Cons: Probably not great for HT or in a big room, but will certainly annoy the neighbors if you want.

Other Thoughts: Keep the level low, work with the crossover, let your main speakers do the work, and this is a great sub. It's not going to rock the party, so to speak, but for casual listening paired with bookshelf speakers (AR-215PS) and a low end receiver (Onkyo TX-8211) it makes for a full listening experience.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Subwoofer for the price

Pros: Sound quality is amazing, the build quality is great, and all around its a great product. Highly recommended if you are looking to get a new SubWoofer. Can't be beat for the price. It thumps and bumps. I have a Onkyo 7.2 Receiver with two 10" Subwoofers. One being a Klipsch the other being the one I am writing a review for. Together they have knocked the pictures and paintings off the neighbors walls. lol... Even a single one is LOUD... This is a real good, loud, and great looking product. If your in the market for a Subwoofer you can not go wrong with this one.

Cons: In all honesty the only thing that would make this better is if it included the speaker wires. Short of that one complaint, this is an amazing Subwoofer for the price.

Other Thoughts: This is a well made, nice looking, and great subwoofer for the price. You can't go wrong with this one.

5 out of 5 eggsgood deal when on sale

Pros: good bass for the price. I paid 59.00 after rebate, I have it as a sound system for my computer with an old Onkyo TX SR606 amp and Polk monitor 30 series II fronts. Its an order of magnitude better then the Logitech speakers i had before. games sound great and music is ok if you turn the bass down a bit as it can get boomy. I like its bigger brother the PSW 505 for music and filling my living room. this one fills an office just fine

Cons: only RCA input
