Polk's PSW111 powered subwoofer delivers huge sound from a small box. The compact enclosure is made from non-resonant MDF with 0.75" internal baffling and bracing for rock solid performance with superlative detail and accuracy. The combination of side-firing driver and down-firing port surrounds the room in sound.

The voice coil of the 8" driver is perfectly centered in its magnetic field for deep bass with no distortion. The built in amplifier has a 100W continuous output with 200W of peak power. An overall 38Hz to 250Hz frequency response is attenuated by an adjustable 80Hz to 200Hz crossover so you can tune the output to match the rest of your speakers.

The back panel has both line level and speaker level inputs so you can use the PSW10 with virtually any amplifier. An LFE input allows the subwoofer to receive a precisely tailored signal. There is also a phase switch for additional fine tuning of the sound. The "auto" selection on the power switch lets the subwoofer turn itself off after 15 minutes of no signal and turn itself back an almost instantaneously, leaving you free to enjoy the music and not worry about turning things on and off.

  • newegg Huge Bass The Polk Audio PSW111 boasts an 8" Dynamic Balance composite woofer driver and anti-resonant MDF construction to deliver powerful, accurate and musical bass, bringing your favorite action movies and music alive.
  • newegg High-powered Amplifier The Polk Audio PSW111 is equipped with a built-in high-current amplifier to bring out the best from any high quality sound system.
  • newegg Take Control The Polk Audio PSW111 features a variable Low-Pass crossover, phase switch and subwoofer volume control for the ultimate ease of control and flexible configuration of your speaker system.

2 out of 5 eggsmeh an echo mess

Pros: it's only 8"??? :-/

it was free....

Cons: It plain out sucks. It's very echoey on hardwood floors. Bought a BIC f12 from a site that starts with an A to replace it and of course for a 12" sub it destroys this tiny thing.

My polk 75ts also go lower than this sub... hah!

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect sub for living rooms

Pros: Compact size, Very good performance for its size, Powerful 150W amplifier, and connections to support all configurations.

Cons: Speaker level terminals could have used binding posts.

Other Thoughts: This subwoofer served well for the last 10 months in the living room corner when matched with a pair of Polk RM30 as mains in a stereo setup. Since my amplifier had no bass management, I used the crossover setting on the sub, which worked really well. Its performance for both movies and music is excellent. Its compact size allowed me to place it in many locations and it actually looks nice. Currently, its matched to Def. Tech Mythos Four as mains, and is doing a wonderful job. It provides connections for all types subwoofer configurations. Due to its size, it doesn't go extremely low, and hence may not be the best solution in a dedicated home theater setting. But in a living room, where I listen to both movies and music, and want a decent looking unit, this is the best product I have come across in this price range.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat sound.

Pros: Bought this to replace a failed Martin Logan 12" 450W sub.
This thing is punchier, and sounds much, much better. Clear, tight bass.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I bought this based on a recommendation from a colleague. Part of the difference is that the port is down-firing, and makes much better sound echoing off a hard floor that my rear-firing sub did facing painted drywall.

Don't buy this if you're placing it on a soft surface like carpet.

5 out of 5 eggsNewbie likes it.

Pros: So far I like it a lot. It's boosted my living room setup adequately and put some bang into my setup. I'm a newbie when it comes to sound but it performs great and was priced excellently.

Cons: So far none. I'm told speakers do not come with wires to connect them into systems, but that would be my only complaint.

Other Thoughts: MY 5 egg review should be taken with a grain of salt since this is my first foray into the world of sound outside of a nice headset. However, it's been exactly what I wanted.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Sound

Pros: Great sound quality.
Affordable with 40% off promo coupon.
5 Yr Warranty

Cons: No 3.5mm hookup

Other Thoughts: This sub has performed well in the short time I've owned it. It sounds wonderful in my 2.1 setup on my PC. Has a surprising amount of power, and hits every note with great precision. I'm not an audiophile but I love this sub so far!

5 out of 5 eggsPlenty of boom for your buck!

Pros: I purchased this sub to supplement my vintage Technics system.
I've gotten to the point where my amp (Technics SU-G91) just doesn't have enough oomph to play music at the volume levels a teenager requires.
My system already has two tower speakers, each with dual 8" woofers, but the bass output of all four woofers at the max volume of my amp are easily matched by the PSW111!
I am amazed at the deep bass a little 8" sub can put out! It makes my music sound a whole lot more rich and (best of all) powerful.

I find this sub works great with every genre of music I have tested!
It sounds amazing with any music that has a predominant beat (rap, dubstep, etc) because it adds that tight deep 'bump' to the songs that was previously missing.

I just can't seem to describe this sub well enough. It gives new life to my old system.

Cons: I should have ordered more of these...

Other Thoughts: I bought this sub on sale here for $169, and am very pleased with it.
Polk makes quality products, so when I saw this deal I just had to act.

The PSW111 adds a very deep rich sound to my music I didn't have before. It's a very compact sub, looks beautiful, and works with virtually ANY existing sound system.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent, Compact and Powerful

Pros: This Sub is compact, yet delivers a good punch. The construction is very solid, and it has adjustments for output power and frequency cutoff so it can be tuned to fit the other speakers in your system. Wonderful little sub at a very reasonable price.

Cons: I struggle to think of any cons; Possibly the small diameter of the legs (tends to leave deep marks in carpet), but this can be worked around fairly easily.

Other Thoughts: I love this Sub. I have owned it for three years now and I would buy it again in a heartbeat. I paid about $225 for mine, which is still a good deal in my opinion. Recently Newegg had it on sale for $170 shipped; I found myself trying to think up reasons why I needed to buy another one.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Subwoofer!

Pros: This sub is super musical. I play up to 80% music and television and then some movies but not too much. I have the polk monitor 50's and this sub blends so well with the speakers you almost cannot tell the bass is coming from the corner like a lot of subs. This sub is distortion free, deep and clean bass it is amazing. The looks are fantastic too with its minimalistic design of the grill and the rounded edges on everything and the bottom firing port as well as the inset woofer are really fantastic. This sub looks like much more expensive subwoofers and sounds like much more expensive subwoofers but at a fraction of the price.

Cons: This subwoofer has almost zero cons at all I cannot find anything I do not like about it. This is my favorite sub I have ever had and I have had my share as big as the polk psw505 some klipsches, yamahas etc. The one thing others may find as a con is the low end extension wont go below about 35 hz some might be turned off by this to me I don't mind if in a move it rolls off a bit on the low end, seems to make tv commercials not too boomy either when they get louder.

Other Thoughts: Use a good subwoofer cable with this unit. I would not recommend this for floor speakers bigger than the monitor 50s because I think the monitor 60s or 70s with the additional woofers and using a good receiver or amp will be able to play louder and lower than this sub on its own although I did not turn the gain all the way up to see just how loud it gets it will get overwhelmed by the loudness of bigger speakers at high volumes.

4 out of 5 eggsPounds the Ground

Pros: I bought this sub from a different electronics store for a really good deal. I bought a 12" Polk PSW505 from New Egg. This PSW111 sub is really powerful and shakes the ground. Very impressive for an 8". Technology has come a long ways. The bass is definitely tight. I gotta tell you the PSW505 is a lot more powerful and clean but it's bigger and a little more of an eye soar.

This sub is very compact and attractive.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I only used this sub for 2 days so I didn't break it in. It may be a monster after a couple weeks. Not sure.
