Integrated keyhole slot wall mounting brackets allow for easy wall mounting. All satellites are magnetically shielded for safe placement next to today's state-of-the-art TVs and video monitors. Look at the price, look at Polk Audio's reputation for excellent sound quality; you simply can't go wrong with this package.

1 out of 5 eggsSide speakers don't connect

Pros: Sub woofer is great.

Cons: I've connected every side speaker and none of them work. The sub woofer works great but that's the only thing working. I have them all connected through speaker wires but don't get anything. Sadly I am very disappointed.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Good Sound

Pros: Has very clear and crisp sound
Able to pull the viewer into the movie
Small, unobtrusive speakers
Good bass

Cons: None, just a simple set of 5.1 speakers

Other Thoughts: I did a lot of research before I purchased these speakers. This is my first set of surround sound speakers and I did not want to purchase something that I would break in the next couple of months. These speakers deliver clear sound and function as expected. Anyone setting up their first 5.1 speaker system should consider these because for the price they pack a good punch.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat starter kit!

Pros: Having these as your first set is a great choice - the bass out of the sub is wonderful, and the surround speakers work as expected.

Cons: Dislike the pin style connections on the back of the speakers -

4 out of 5 eggsperfect

Pros: Work well. Good solid sound. Ended up rather impressed with the company, Polk, overall. I replaced my whole living room entertainment system with these included and have been very pleased. Sub controls perfect for 2nd floor apartment. Also, I had read a review that indicated these were not enough, I watch a ton of movies all day long and these are great, perhaps this was a music buff. Of course music is great as well it is just not my primary pupose and I dont care for overwhelming bass.

Cons: honestly i have to think....and nothing. you get what you pay for and these were great on sale at newegg (180). Oh, the sub controls and the on off switch may take alittle getting used to I enjoy them though.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Quality - With One Exception

Pros: Very good sound quality for both movies and music. Mids and highs sound nice. Lows aren't that great, but have punch. Nice small speakers, very unobtrusive.

Cons: The sub washes out occasionally. Usually happens when you have a very low, long note and the volume is cranked. Irritating but not worth an egg.

Other Thoughts: I've been using these as my main sound system for my TV and multimedia computer for the last FOUR years now. Speakers are still going strong. In fact, I think they have 'broken in' over the years, as they sound better then when they were new. They sound 'fuller'. I'm disappointed by the sub washing out whenever it does it, but it's so infrequent it isn't worth buying a better one. Been using a Yamaha RX-V565 with these since day one and couldn't be happier.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent for the Money

Pros: Accurate soundfield reproduction
Powerful subwoofer is great for movie soundtracks
Small size
Integrated hangers on satellites
Great Price

Cons: Not as good for music reproduction as for movies
So-So instructions (if you need them)
Discontinued- so matching satellites for a 7.1 hookup are getting a little scarce.

Other Thoughts: Bought this system to replace an aging and low level Pro-Logic setup. For the $$ I am very impressed. The soundfield is expansive in my fairly small viewing room. Reproduction of movie soundtracks is incredible and, once dialed in with my AVR, the viewing experience is great. I had to experiment with subwoofer placement and level because at first the transition between it and the satellites wasn't as seamless as I would like. But now it's set. Very happy with the speakers and would highly recommend. They won't be great for extremely loud volumes or huge rooms, but for my average room, they work very well.

4 out of 5 eggsGood starter set

Pros: Good quality and solid set of satellite speakers. Though small in size, they have good sound. I like blasting my music loud so these work quite well.

The cool thing is since I bought a 7.1 receiver, I can easily buy 2 better front left & right speakers and just move the old left and right speakers to the surround back speakers.

Cons: The speakers do have their limitations and I have noticed with some songs at higher volumes, the highs will distort a little bit. (great speakers for the price though)

Other Thoughts: The subwoofer sounds great but I like bass that really packs a punch. I feel this sub does pack a decent punch, but I am hungry for more bass and will probably swap out for a bigger one soon.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent value

Pros: Nice build quality, sound is surprisingly good for such small speakers

Cons: The sub certainly won't knock your socks off...but the, I didn't expect it to. At the sale price + rebate the speakers alone were easily worth it.

Other Thoughts: I basically bought this to downsize my former JBL towers/center/surrounds with these small satellite speakers. I kept my old Infinity sub as it is significantly better than the included sub.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Trust me for the price these things are great. I had a lot more written, but when I originally submitted this, it wiped it all.

Cons: None that are really important. I had a lot more written, but when I originally submitted this, it wiped it all.

Other Thoughts: Thank "goodness", I spell checked this elsewhere and had a copy.

We got these with a Yamaha RX-675, I was a Pioneer Elite man for decades - no more, for a friend that just had major Cancer surgery. It was a "Get Well"/"Merry Christmas" gift from his wife. They have a modestly large nicely finished basement area for a media room that I have been slowly helping them "get ready". We have been taking our time because they already have a media room one level up and showed no hurry in proceeding any time soon. But then my friend goes and gets an amazing 60" Acquos Flat-screen, and thus the flood gates open. Since this was a surprise for my best friend and I needed to do right for his wife, I did a lot of research and saw from all the reviews of everything that is out there in a "reasonable" price range, that these were it. All components right out of the box and just placed where they would be permanently installed and hooked up to the Yammi, just to test and make sure I didn't screw up, blew away my 9 month old Pioneer Elite AVR and $25k of speakers. To say the least this have been one of my most emotionally difficult installs. I'm not happy about my own now. Cuz as simple as the components are, the speakers, mostly this little sub, has sound nuances that these have, I could only dream my system had. I am quite upset that I can not with all the self calibration my system has can not get anywhere near this one. The bottom end is so very smooth and solid. While the sats are clean, clear and crisp. We have watched both Star Treks, Lord of the Rings, Blackhawk Down (he loves the helicopters), Bladerunner and The Hobbit VUDU HDX Trailer, with many more to come, at amazing volumes with no distortion or complications what so ever. It reminds me of my old large scale threatre days when I would be hired to tune the rooms prior to to the first run. Full, Loud, Fantastic and so wonderfully naturally sounding and imposing when necessary..

So far with a fair amount of use, and I mean use, Batman Trilogy, Indiana Jones, Fifth Element, Avatar, Thor, Avengers type stuff, we have yet to run into any complications with any of the gear. I just wish I could get my $5k Showco Carpet Bagger (professional stage gear) Sub tuned to be so full, intense and silky as the Polk for what little box does. Then I'd be a bit more happy. It took me close to a year to get my system half way decent and this thing was great right out on the box.

P.S.
As per Polk and Yamaha, the trick to tuning the system and sub is to set the sub at half volume, full EQ (I believe 120 or 160, could be 180Hz, I don't remember) and the sats at “small”, then run any auto calibration. I haven’t run the calibration yet. I have found that those settings alone without the auto cal, are perfect.
