Building the surround sound system of your dreams without taking up the whole room or breaking the bank! This set of 6 speakers from Polk Audio has been designed to fill your room with big surround sound, minus the big speakers.

Each of the four satellites has a 3-1/4" polymer composite cone driver that's lightweight and efficient, for clear, distortion-free midrange. The center channel uses two of the same high quality drivers for even greater output capability. The fronts and surrounds also have a Power Port Vent to extend and strengthen the low-midrange performance. The subwoofer features an 8" long-throw Dynamic Balance poly composite driver for big, musical bass.

The mineral-filled polypropylene enclosures have a non-resonant shape that eliminates any standing wave resonance for amazingly lifelike sound. Integrated keyhole slot wall mounting brackets allow for easy wall mounting. All satellites are magnetically shielded for safe placement next to today's state-of-the-art TVs and video monitors. Look at the price, look at Polk Audio's reputation for excellent sound quality; you simply can't go wrong with this package.

  • newegg Full 5.1-channel Surround Sound in a Compact Package Four compact satellite speakers and center channel speaker paired with a compact 50-watt powered subwoofer deliver true 5.1-channel surround sound without overwhelming your room.
  • newegg Dynamic Balance Technology The subwoofer boasts Polk Audio's exclusive Dynamic Balance Composite Material Technology to eliminate the performance-robbing resonance, so the sound is always clear and clean without any distortion.
  • newegg Magnetically Shielded The magnetically-shielded satellite speakers can be put at any proximity to display devices such as TVs and LCD monitors without loss of sound quality caused by interference.

2 out of 5 eggsHums & Clips but Looks Nice

Pros: Inexpensive speaker set. Satellites look good and have wall mount brackets built-in.

Cons: Subwoofer hums a bit and audio clips sometimes at just above 25% volume on the sub's amp. I was very surprised at how much the sub speaker rattles and I don't like a lot of bass anyway, but this is awful.

Distortion is high above 80-90 Hz. I highly recommend trimming the low pass to avoid excessive subwoofer speaker cone movement or perhaps replace it with a good one. Don't turn volume up over 20-25% on sub.

Not sure it's worth it even at the low price.

Other Thoughts: Save this for the bathroom or a very small room.

I find many "auto-on" subwoofers tend to not work properly and this Polk Audio sub is no different. Sometimes you have to turn the power on manually when it doesn't come on or off when they stay on. Fairly minor compared to the bad audio of the sub anyway.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome strater set

Pros: Great set (all though discontinued) of starter speakers for a 5.1 system

Very good sound for the price

Cons: Sub auto on/off doesn't always work so have to manually turn on and off. Not a real big deal but common if you read hte other reviews.

Other Thoughts: Should have gotten two sets

3 out of 5 eggsGood Sound

Pros: - Cheap Price - On sale & additional $ off.
- Positive reviews
- Good Sound quality - when they worked.
- Packed & shipped well
- Small speakers - Going in issue w/ Wife since smaller L/R and I have a large entertainment system downstairs.
- Sub and system filled living room/small dining (adjacent) no problem.
- matched well w/ Harman Kardon AVR1700 5.1 setup.

*** RMA - process (although this time was a huge pain &took many hours of my time.) saved the day using key people and their supervisors to fix Newegg receiving issue.
-- I had to escalate to Level 2 and Supervisors to remedy but everyone was friendly even when they told you the bad info.
-- Chat support (Katherine) really tried to help but was limited on what she could do, but with what she could do she was very helpful & at least refunded my RMA return shipping fee.
-- Jay - email support - got back to as soon as he could. I provided him updates & the serial numbers I took time to record before shipping back. He kept the process engaged as best he could.
-- RMA happy ending - Refund - allowed to go another route and setup... see sidenote:

Sidenote: I went a different route as the RMA process drug out.
- Polk Audio PSW505 Subwoofer (wow) a bit bigger for L/R
- Axiom Audio M2 Bookshelf spkrs (L/R front)
- BIC DV-62CLR-S Center Channel (also bigger than anticipated)
- Polk Audio RM6750 satellites (L/R rear) moved 7.2 speakers upstairs.
This fills the room more than the RM6750 but I paid an additional $140 to get this setup and I already had the Axiom Audio M2s & Polk Audio RM6750 satellites.

Cons: - Need bookshelf setup and/or wall-mounting (paid $18 each 5 Mount-it brackets)
- Center channel Above Average - Polk's newer version has a better center.
- Spring connectors (a pain with larger wire)
- 2x Satellites quit after 45 minutes - tweeter according to Polk Audio dude. (Drat) Tried them on different receiver and shifted them to surround channels) same issue.
-- Caused some angst since I had also purchased 2 additional satellites for downstairs 7.2 setup. Which ended up part of the homebrew system instead. Now I need two more 7.2 speakers for downstairs.

** RMA process didn't work as advertised
- All or nothing when one item is broke. Somewhat understandable but a pain
- You pay shipping to return ($38 for an item this size)
- If the receiving team records wrong serial number as a return - they will email you you sent them the wrong item (which somewhat makes sense) but shouldn't you get a call telling you this and get a chance to fix it or correct them.
---- No you must call/chat/email customer service and their level 1 assist.
They must go to receiving, but not so willing to go there unless you can prove your case.
--- Especially so when receiving makes a recording error. You will be treated and feel as such "a Liar" for sending in the wrong item.

Luckily customer service reps try to keep it a positive spin.
I had to do a lot of the leg work prove it was a Newegg error.

Thus having the serial numbers as proof, knowing each speaker is separate serial number and for this system there is "ONE" system serial number on the outside of the box.
++ Receiving clerk opened the box and recorded the subwoofer serial number - thus what they shipped me serial number wise didn't and would not match. The correct S/N was on the outside and visible.

My 2 additional RM6750 satellites (worth the additional cost) on the homebrew 5.1 system (back 2 speakers) still working and sound great.

Other Thoughts: For the price I really wanted to have this system running in our living room. As you can read in Pro/Con area, it just didn't pan out.

After hours of wiring, set up, crossovers etc. We had a failure. Two satellite tweeters sound like underwater. They hadn't sounded as crisp as my AxiomAudio M2 bookshelf speakers temporarily using. But based on size. I didn't think they would be as clear. Should have caught it early. Lesson learned.

***RMA process online started out quick, allows you to print UPS label (u pay) and I shipped next day. 3 days later Newegg has RM6750.

Edited down - After Newegg has RM6750.

1. 3 days later receive email - RMA received. Item purchased S/N xxx and item received is S/N yyy. S/Ns do not match. We are unable to complete RMA and item will be returned please work with Manufacturer for repair.

2. YGBKM - Item was reboxed in original packaging and sent back. How did I send back wrong item. Was it incorrect coming to me?
Receiving error? (Having done receiving in past - know what can happen)

3. Fired up Newegg chat (Katherine) very nice but basically tells me it’s the wrong item (Chat log captured) and its being shipped back. I provide the whole story. But forget to include I have all S/Ns big mistake, could have been useful. Best she can do is refund my return shipping. Something at least. But she does provide supervisor info. You must call them they can't call you.

4. I call - same story line for level 1 rep, but she reads Katherine's log and notes. She calls receiving requests a recheck.

5. Email - Jay responds he's checking- sends update - process in review. I send all S/Ns and speakers they match & relay the outside of box has S/N for RM6750 system.

6. 3 hours later - new email = Disregard previous emails your RMA has not been received and entered into system. Someone has realized there has been an error. But my records have not been updated to show this.

7. Call 8 days later - RMA update - Rep tells me I sent wrong item - S/Ns do not match they are returning RM6750. I stop her, provide Jay's info, asked her to read Katherine's notes. She calls receiving for assist. Someone is helping her. I asked now to switch to refund upon completion. She complies. Yes

8. 20 mins later - Supervisor checking. They will call me.

9. 1 hour - Email - RMA received and approved - refund coming

10. Next day - Email - Refund process completed - expect Card to show refund 5-7 days.

Good Records - continual follow up all help.
Be courteous to Cust/Ser reps - may be tough when you feel like you're being called a liar by Newegg (not customer service reps) But honey vs vinegar.

Still Newegg customer --
thanks to Jay, Katherine and supervisors willing to hear my side and importantly having the records to back it up.

Next time I take pictures to help expedite it.

It is/has been rare I have had any issues w/ Newegg returns or items. Sometimes someone makes a mistake. I know i do.

5 out of 5 eggsto poor reviewers

Pros: I can not see why there is poor reviews the people must have got bad units which happens in mass productions. I have had these for months now and they are great i love to watch movies loud. My dogs hide and my wife cringes but i can feel the booms of bombs and such the sub works great maybe the guys that give bad reviews just dont know how to hook up system properly and make the adjustments on the sub like always Polk did a great job! Is there better out there well sure there is if you have more money than you know what to do with you could spend 2 or 3 thousand dollars but for under 200.00 b*se cant touch these i returned the b*se package just so i could buy a good surround system no more needs to be said !!

Cons: they are not gold plated ....LOL

Other Thoughts: if you want great sound in a theater environment for the money i dont think it is possible for you to get better then these Polks. and just for all the negitive people out there this is my thoughts and feelings and NO ONE COULD EVER PAY ME TO SAY THESE THINGS. so the reviewer "NA" that thinks these reviews are purchased well you can be assured they are not

2 out of 5 eggsBad subwoofer

Pros: nice and compact sound ok

Cons: Shipped with a bad sub woofer amp. I cannot ship back to new egg because of the 30 day constraint. Out of the box I notice a low hum from sub. Called Polk and was told the amp was going bad. Unfortunately, I did not get around to installing until last week end.

Tech at Polk said this is the second sub he has received issues with from new egg. Kudos to Polk for excellent customer service. They will ship me a new one at no cost. Thumbs down to new egg for a restricted retuen policy.

5 out of 5 eggsGood

Pros: This is a good product, not great, as it is missing some midrange sound- and yes I read the previous review and agree that some midrange is lost. The product is in a large room, so I traded the 8" sub with a 10" sub and sounds GREAT-

Cons: As noted above, I was expecting some midrange loss, and would recommend a 10" sub in larger spaces. The 8" is noble, but frankly, its not enough. But hey folks, its Polk and its a cost effective way to get surround in a room!

Other Thoughts: all good

5 out of 5 eggsVery Pleased !!!

Pros: I reallly like this speaker set. I did some shopping around... I would have to say you will not find a bigger bang for your buck like this one. I put these with a Harmon Kardon AVR 1700 receiver and could not be happier.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Polk Audio web site recommends regular audio cable for the sub-woofer. The HK AVR 1700 has a seperate sub-woofer output. That worked great and I have plenty to spare.

1 out of 5 eggsOk speakers, terrible sub

Pros: The 5 regular speakers have decent sound, very good for the price

Cons: The Subwoofer is terrible. I read a ton of info online about the RM6750 5.1 system, and I did not find any one thing which mentions my terrible Sub problem. Hard to believe. I feel like I was deluded by all the positive reviews on newegg.

After about two weeks of use I threw away the box, only to notice a week later that the Sub creates a loud hum after about ten minutes of use that is very annoying. I called newegg but they said without the box I can not return it, even though the speakers are defective. They told me to call Polk and get a warranty repair.

I called Polk. And they mailed me a replacement rear electronic board thing for the sub, said that would fix the problem. I spent about an hour figuring out how to remove the old board and install the new board. It was eight screws on the back and four screws on the front. I broke one of the plastic arms holding the speaker cover in place when trying to remove it from the front of the sub.

Now I have a new electronic subwoofer board that is reconnected the the subwoofer speaker. A three legged speaker cover that fortunately re-connects... and guess what? Even with the new board the subwoofer still has the same loud hum after about ten minutes.

This hum is very annoying. It comes on even when the subwoofer cable is disconnected. It comes on when I plug the sub into several different electrical outlets in different rooms in my house. I have two other subwoofers, and neither of them hum. If loud subwoofer hum bothers you, then beware of these speakers.

I now seem to be stuck with my defective less than two month old newegg purchase, I hope you read this review and don't have to fall into the same fate.
