Polk Audio Monitor 30 Black Two-way bookshelf loudspeaker Pair

Pros: These speakers are large, but they really fill in the mids on my surround sound. I originally had a surround set of Panasonics and these speakers blow them outta the water. I was originally considering one set of these for surround and the towers for front left and right. I'm glad I saved some money. I can't turn these up all the way on my receiver and they sound crystal clear, and like your ear drums will pop.

Cons: Very large for wall mount surround sound speakers.

Pros: Highs and Lows are fairly well-balanced. I have these in my basement as mains to a 2.1 setup with the Polk PSW10 as my sub strictly for listening to my CD collection while working out.

Cons: I'm not aware of any right now. Newegg currently being out of them can be a con.

Other Thoughts: For those referring to these speakers as too 'bright,' how far away from the speakers are you? I understand the complaint if you placed your ears 3 feet or less from one of the speakers but otherwise these are great.

Pros: Great sound. I am using them for the rear surround on a 5.1 setup. I like the wall mounting. I haven't tried them as the mains but I think I will just to see how they sound. Beautiful finish. I chose the cherry. Very nice construction of the cabinets. This is my fourth Polk Audio purchase and I am completely happy with them all. These speakers will last a very long time but if I ever do need more you can bet they will be Polks from Newegg

Cons: None that I have found. May irritate the neighbors by cranking up your system but if you don't like them that could be a Pro :)

Other Thoughts: A rocking surround system for under $750. Two monitor 70's in front. A CS2 center, psw10 sub and monitor 30s for the rear. You just cant beat Newegg's prices and service. I think Newegg delivered the speakers before I even decided to order them. Maybe a slight exaggeration but they showed up quick.

Pros: A great value...good sound, high efficiency. Small size. Makes a great first impression.

Cons: Balance is a little too bright on the high end. I prefer my Wharfedale 9.1 Diamonds, but then they cost abut 3 times as much.

Pros: Good sound. Good price.

Cons: Weak Bass. A little too big to mount on the wall.

Other Thoughts: I'm very pleased with these speakers. They have great sound. Like other reviewers mentioned, they are weak in the bass side of the sound, but do sound very clean. I don't have a subwoofer but, i think a subwoofer would round out the sound beautifully. I live in an apartment so i really don't need the extra bass. I have 7 sets of these speakers spread throughout my apartment. I also have a set of the Polk Audio Atrium 4 in the bathroom. I run my computer and TV into 2 Audiosource AMPS (series-parallel) which send sound to every corner of the apartment. It's not that its loud (but it can be), it's just wherever i walk. The Audiosource AMPs are great because they auto on/off on the detection of a source. I happy with my choice of speakers. And of course, NewEgg did a great job as usual.

Pros: I don't know if I can say enough about these speakers. I will admit that I'm recently just getting into audio and caring about what my speakers sound like but these speakers are amazing. I've never heard such great mid-range in my life, and polk's dynamic balance really shines with these speakers. Yes there are better speakers for much great $$$ but for the $100 I paid for these bookshelf speakers they really can't be wronged. I did gratuitous amounts of research before purchasing these speakers and I frankly could not be happier with my purchase.

Cons: I will admit that these speakers definitely need a subwoofer counterpart to completely fill out the sound spectrum. Out of the box I adjusted the EQ to favor bass just a few decibels overall and lowered the treble a couple decibels to get a sound I personally love. I would reccomend (and probably will in the future) getting one of the polk subs that match these speakers (the 10' PSW10 or the 12' PSW12), but for a smaller room a subwoofer probably isn't completely necessary as these speakers put out more musical bass than one would expect.

Also, these speakers do take up a relatively large space but that's to be expected.

Other Thoughts: Hands down Polk is probably the best brand name for bookshelf speakers for someone like me just getting into audio and on a relatively tight budget.

Pros: Good size, attractive case. Well built and put together. Sound quality is good. I bought these for my TV at home to replace my TV's built in speakers and they clearly blow it away.

Cons: Not a big deal, but make sure to use rubber spacers if you mount it to a wall with a screw. Otherwise you'll almost certainly get resonances at certain frequencies.

Other Thoughts: Since I bought these I've decided I don't really need a subwoofer. These are more than enough for my small room.

Pros: Great for price and sound.
I use these speakers for placement front speakers (they're apart of package HTiB Onkyo HT-S3300). They perform better than my front Onkyo speakers and fit with my small room. Clear and accurate.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: They installed to the sytem HT 5.1 better than 2.1 that I tested them with my sytem.
I love the way that newegg delivered. Fast.

Pros: Musical and clean with excellent detail and coherence of sound. These are compared with expensive Pinnacle
AC-800 with excellent results. The bottom end on the Pinnacles (8" woofer) is better but the overall musicality and enjoyabilty of the sound are every bit as good. Quite impressive.

Cons: Is sensitive to speaker wire and placement. Buy good 14 guage wire and experiment with positioning to get good results

Other Thoughts: If you don't really need small speakers, the monitor 40's might be a better buy in view of their better bass performance.

Pros: These make great surround speakers. If you're looking for great entry level surround speakers, these are for you!
