4 out of 5 eggsGood Sound

Pros: Good price and easy to hook up. Forward sound is excellent and well balanced. Overall a good set of speakers for an average sized room where much of the use is music, not TV or video.

Cons: RM7's for surround are weaker, don't output same level of sound/quality as RM8's on front. Limited bass - definitely need a subwoofer to get the deeper range.

Other Thoughts: Overall happy with the speakers for the location and use.

4 out of 5 eggsGood But not so Great

Pros: The front portion of the system works great (the RM8's)

Cons: YOU NEED "SPEAKER CABLES" AND A "RECEIVER!" THIS IS NOT A STAND ALONE SET!

since the front is clearly better than the back two (which are RM7's) the front overpowers the back. it often sounds like you're using a 2 speaker system instead of a 5 because they are so soft back there.

to remedy the situation, i decided to pay an extra $130 to get a pair of RM8's for the back and it sounds much more surrounded. however it still lacks a good broadcast frequency. it sounds like something's missing, or they sound cheap. this is because they do not project base that well, so you'll be needing a GOOD subwoofer to mask the shortcomings.

Other Thoughts: it loses an egg because the two RM7's in the back don't cut it. if you need to buy this, you better upgrade to the RM95's which have 5 RM8 speakers. it is a lot more clear. also this sound system is old which is why they are cheap.

5 out of 5 eggsAWESOME SPEAKERS

Pros: Phenomenal sound quality out of such small speakers. Still in the breaking in process of the speakers, however I install home audio and car audio systems for a living. These speakers, after reading the reviews on them, were a must have for me. Replaced a 5 speaker Bose setup with this 5 speaker Polk Audio setup. Blew my mind at the quality of them. Sound is superb, and couldn't ask for more at the price I paid for them.

Cons: Obviously the breaking in period of any speaker. Otherwise, none so far.

Other Thoughts: Only wish I had opted for the RM95 or RM97 setup, as the RM8 speakers are the true worth of the system itself. The RM7's don't hold a candle to the RM8's. Now a total fan of the Polk Audio lineup and just purchased a pair of Monitor 60 Series II to complete a 7.1 setup rather than a 5.1. Am hoping that they live up to my expectations as well.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat sound for the money

Pros: Great sound, they don't take a whole lot of space. Very nice fit and finish.

Cons: None for what I paid for them.

Other Thoughts: I'm no audiophile but I think that for the money (when on sale) these would be hard to beat.

You can enjoy a lot of Pinkfloyd on these ;-)

4 out of 5 eggsnice for price

Pros: Paired up very well with 200W Polk sub and Denon receiver. Very crisp upgrade from the Sonys I was using.

Cons: Mounting system isn't the greatest. The angles I had to use for the rears took alot troubleshooting. Fingerprint really easy. I'm not sure about the additional side-firing output on the front 2 speakers, I'd like a way to turn that on/off to see if it adds or subtracts from music quality.

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding Value. Great Sound.

Pros: Very wide sound stage with the RM8s up front. Crisp audio at all volume levels.

Cons: Break in period (?)

Other Thoughts: They do sound flat when you hook them up. When I had played music through for a few hours, they began to crisp up and really deliver a full range.

I will probably replace the RM7s w/ RM8s in the near furure!

5 out of 5 eggsNot a speaker review - speed of delivery

Pros: WOW - what service. Put my order in Wed night and the speakers were at my house by Friday afternoon.
Speakers came in manufacturer's packaging and in new condition. Excellent experience.
Can't wait to check these speakers out. But I have to finish my basement first.
I have the Polk sub and Polk outdoor speakers.

Cons: none yet

5 out of 5 eggsNice, simple design

Pros: Great size. Nice mounting hardware. The base is designed so you can run speaker wire out the bottom of the speakers, and straight into the wall.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: They do just what they're supposed to do. Good range. Good size. No complaints.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Speaker System

Pros: Small footprint, good sound, multiple mounting options, FREE PSW111 subwoofer, and easy setup.

Cons: Not crazy about the spring clip wire connectors, 16ga. wire is about all your going to be able to use without thinning the wire.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this for use in my bedroom about 13x15x8' room. I am running them off a very old Sony STR-DE 945. The sound is clean and clear. the sub is not a big boomer, but not really needed or wanted in my bedroom. Used for watching TV and the occasional DVD. For comparison I have a Klipsch Quintet II spaeker system in my computer room. While these polks aren't quite on the same level as the Klipsch ( crisp & brite) the polks are a smoother sounding speaker which I think is more suited for a Bedroom. I also think they might make a good choice for an appartment setup. Overall I am very happy with my choice. Newegg as usual gets 5 eggs!
