Polk Audio Floorstanding Loudspeaker (Black) - Single

The name "Monitor" is special to Polk Audio. The original Polk Audio Monitor Series, produced in the mid-1970s, ushered in the modern loudspeaker era by setting the standard for performance and value.

The original Monitor Series is the line that made Polk Audio famous with its simple, sturdy construction, clear, accurate sound, powerful bass and superior imaging all at a price that made great sound available to everyone. The reborn Monitor Series is classic Polk: a quality-built, affordable line of high performance loudspeakers for music and home theater. They are highly efficient, so they can be driven easily by unpretentious receivers, and they are voice matched for lifelike surround sound environments. The Monitor Series boasts a stylish look that complements today's flat screen technology, with wood grain finishes and mod Titanium faces, and beefy stabilizer feet on the tower models.

Built for speed, sound quality and value, the Monitor Series is a great introduction to high performance sound.

Incredible Sound. Affordable Price.

The high efficiency design of this classic floorstanding loudspeaker allows it to reveal the classic Polk Audio sound (open, spacious and clear) even when driven by modestly-powered amplifiers and receivers. This is the hallmark of the stylish Monitor Series.

The Monitor 60II Features:

  • 1-inch (25mm) fabric/polymer composite Dynamic Balance® dome tweeter with powerful neodymium magnet structure delivers clear and detailed high frequency response for realistic reproduction of vocals and instruments.
  • 5 1/4-inch bi-laminate composite Dynamic Balance drivers are lightweight and stiff with good damping for high efficiency, excellent bass and lower distortion.
  • Multiple small-diameter driver design delivers wide dispersion, better mid-range, and more detailed bass response for an open, "box-less" three-dimensional sound.
  • Non-resonant all-MDF enclosure construction with 3/4-thick baffles and front-to-back and side-to-side internal bracing ensures cleaner, clearer, more lifelike sound quality.
  • Crossovers use Mylar bypass capacitors for more detailed high frequencies.
  • Dual 5-Way binding post connectors, allowing for more secure hook-up options, as well as bi-wiring and bi-amping flexibility.
  • Monitor Series speakers are "modern living accessories" that make a stylish statement in either black or cherry wood grain finish, with titanium faces.
  • Bold, fat stabilizer feet that ensure stability on carpet or hard floors for more precise bass response and superior imaging.
  • Slim tower design has a footprint of less than one square foot.
  • Critically tuned flared port minimizes port noise ("chuffing") for good low frequency extension with low distortion, resulting in natural, full-bodied sound with rich bass.
  • All Polk Audio products are made using the best materials and the most advanced manufacturing techniques. They pass the industry's most exhaustive quality tests, including drop testing, extreme signal response and UV & salt exposure testing. Polk Audio loudspeakers are built to perform for a lifetime.

5 out of 5 eggsexcellent mid level towers

Pros: I use an entire Polk set up in my office which include a pair of 60s , a pair od 40s for the rear ; a cs2 in the middle and a 10 in sub by polk .all bought at the same time . the room is quite small (10×12 ) but with a little adjusting the set up sounds unreasonable good for the price I paid.on reproduction of older music , welk a sub is needed as these just do not have the drivers for low end .a sub of 10 or 12 inches is needed.they do great on the highs .any old chrome oxide tapes I play are great , FM is perfect, and vinyl thru a pre-amp is just mindblowing.as a person who frew up on 12-15 in 3 or 4 way speakers , these are as good as I have been able to find at a price that I am used to play for 1 pair of small 2 watys

Cons: they need a sub of at least 10 inches. I tried an 8 in sub w/250 watts (class a/b amp) it was not enough .a 10 in worked just perfect .the sub drivers were moderate price. other than low end reinforcement , the 60s are great

5 out of 5 eggsLast YEARS(if used right), had mine for about 5 years now, bought 2 for $150

Pros: -Amazing, crisp sound quality
-Bass is really good considering the speakers are only 5.25
-Used it at a house party once, very loud twitters, could barely hear anyone talking on the dance floor

Cons: -at that same house party the DJ pushed the system too hard and blew one of the tweeters(bought 1" replacements of diff brand online, very cheap fix, sounds the same), at this same house party the dust cap area on several 5.25 speakers melted on the edges. (they were driven hard for hours in a hot environment). Thought that was interesting to see the dust cap melt.

Other Thoughts: -Great For Movies
-Great For Video Games
-Great For Music (just not too loud for too long)
-Great For LIGHT DJ-ing (seriously invest in DJ designed speakers for this purpose tho...much better).
-Great For Crisp and Overwhelming Sound quality (pair these speakers with the proper low distortion amp/receiver)

5 out of 5 eggsPolk always performs

Pros: Price, Sound Quality, appearance, Warranty all factors on the purchase.

Cons: Just a bit top heavy so the potential of the tower tipping is relevant BUT not an issue YET

Other Thoughts: After months of daily use they have shown me that the breakin processes really makes a difference. Out of box sound was good but now they have FAR EXCEEDED my expectations at any price point. The transformation from day one till now is truly amazing. I could talk till I'm blue in the face but you will not understand until you get your own set. I do have a Polk Audio PSW505 sub to relieve the towers of low frequencies and they work well with each other.

5 out of 5 eggsOK Speakers worth the sale price of 100

Pros: Average sounding

Cons: none to mention, you get what you pay for

Other Thoughts: I gave 5 stars because I paid 100 each. So to be clear, for the !00 dollar price, then 5 stars. If I had paid more, the number of stars would have been different. But how can you go wrong at 100 each

4 out of 5 eggsVery good bang for the buck.

Pros: Clean highs, mids and lows. No problem with bass. I am not using a subwoofer.

Cons: Gets a bit muddied at high volume. I am driving this with an Audiosource amp102. This may be a factor.

Other Thoughts: Overall, cannot beat this at this price point.

Pros: cheap
sounds great

Cons: heavy

Other Thoughts: I like to watch movies with good sound and these are perfect for me. Upgraded from some cheap aiwa bookshelf speakers what a difference. Got them on sale and couldn't pass on such great speakers.

4 out of 5 eggsBeautiful

Pros: I'm slowly putting together a Polk Audio surround system. Got 2 of these on sale, and I'm loving them. I'm driving them with a Sony STRDH750(basic AVR with plenty of power and features), and paired them with a CS2 for the center. The CS2 was recommended by Polk, "it is voice matched with the Monitor 60s", said the voice on the other end of the line. Note, they are capable of giving you low frequency sound, but it's only good for music; for movies you definitely need a sub. Otherwise, the construction is solid, and if (like me), you care about aesthetics too, they're beautiful and will match with any decor. Otherwise, clear, crisp sound is what they give u. I definitely recommend them.

Cons: They may sound too bright, but that can be fixed by a little tweaking in your settings.

Other Thoughts: Still have my eye on the RTiA7s but I'd definitely recommend the monitor 60s
