5 out of 5 eggsvery nice speakers for music and movies

Pros: great sound, look very nice, don't take much space. fantastic value.

Cons: some might say more bass would be nice, those people should add a sub and turn it up too high. i think the bass from these speakers is more than sufficient.

5 out of 5 eggsPolk Monitor 65t

Pros: These are all-around excellent, solid performing towers. As others have mentioned, clarity is the best word that can be used to describe the way these speakers sound. While the lows and mids bring a lot to the table, the highs are what is truly exceptional about these. Defined, clear, and sharp, espically with orchestral and piano pieces, they really bring out the detail of the music.

Some have criticized the bass response but I am using them in a 2ch setup without a sub and the bass is very punchy, the front port moves a lot of air and the 5 1/4" drivers really hit above their weight class in terms of "oomph" performance. They'll give you that floor-pounding sensation on music with heavy bass lines, but they won't shake the pictures off the walls. You can only go so far without a dedicated sub and if you're looking for earth shaking bass as a priority, you definitely need to factor a dedicated sub into the budget if you're planning on buying these.

My previous towers were very directional, you had to be sitting right infront of them or the sound quickly became muddy and undefined. These have an open quality to them and it's one of the first things I noticed upon hooking them up, they will fill a room evenly.

These speakers have dual binding posts for bi-amping / bi-wiring which is a nice plus. Bi-wiring wont give you any real measureable benefits, but bi-amping is a great wall to generate an even stronger bass response from these towers and it's nice to see that feature on these units.

A last note on aesthetics, these are really slick looking. Hard edges, clean lines, solid build quality. With the baffles on they will blend into the room as unassuming black monoliths and with the speakers exposed they will really draw attention. The tweeter and drivers clearly had some thought put into their design in order to look appealing with the baffles are removed. The baffles themselves are really nice, a solid plastic grid borders the entire surface of the inner baffle making them very rigid and strong, and the Polk logo is nicely embossed into the base. The feet seem excellent on carpet and hardwood surfaces and I found them to be very stable.

Cons: None, yet.

Other Thoughts: Don't scrape the bottom of the barrel and pick a set of the cheapest towers you can find, spend a bit more and get these or the 75t's to have a product that is sturdy and well built, looks sharp, and sounds even better.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Towers

Pros: Very very good highs, Plays very loud, look fantastic

Cons: bass isnt real low like some larger towers

Other Thoughts: I love these things, VERY clear, Id say they favor clearity over warm tonal balance, but for music, they make enough bass. With movies your gonna want a subwoofer,, but ive always been the type that favors CLEAR speakers and pair them with a good sub for the low end, that way you get the best of both and have a perfect sound complement. I was on the fence between these and the pioneer FS-52s but all things being equal, these look WAY better, just ask my girlfriend.

5 out of 5 eggsLove these speakers

Pros: I'm a computer guy. Never really dealt much with audio. However I was able to successfully setup these speakers and love the sound that comes out of them. Movies sound amazing, music sounds amazing, and everyday TV is better than the audio coming from my TV.

I took advantage of a good sale and coupon and received a really good deal on these speakers :).

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Only other thought is the speakers tend to lean on the lower notes/Bass than high notes. Not that it really matters to me as overall the movies and movies come in clear!

5 out of 5 eggsFills a big room with clear sound

Pros: My listening area is about 25x40 with a 16 Foot ceiling. I'm using these for fronts bi-amped. They are partnered with 55t surrounds. In my judgement, these speakers provide a clear full sound to the room's home theatre experience. In Saving Private Ryan the sound of the rain seemed to fill the entire room. The Omaha Beach scene acoustics with ricocheting bullets was equally impressive. These speakers create a near theatre experience ...even in big rooms

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Newegg service and fast shipping impeccable.

5 out of 5 eggsAMAZING

Pros: Awesome mids, Awesome bass really no need for a sub but I am a basshead! Guys get these they are incredible sleek, all black definitely an audio and visual upgrade!

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: I was running a Polk PSW 110, a Polk 15c, two Pioneer FS-51's and a Pioneer VSX 822k receiver. Decided to upgrade to the 65T's in front and the 25C in the center. I am extremely glad I did it's like I got a whole new sound system. Trust me I am a tech junkie who loves reviews and makes a ton of decisions based on them. I however, am to lazy to ever post one myself till today!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Speakers

Pros: Smooth & Balanced for its size. good bass. The sound blends perfectly with my Polk 70s II fronts. Great Price too.

Cons: nothing that's important

Other Thoughts: Many will claim that is speaker and the Monitor 75T above this one lacks bass. These Polk speaks have very good bass. what many fail to understand and speakers is that they require good quality speaker wire 14-12AWG, which carries a proper signal for enhanced bass without a subwoofer. A good sub is often needed for movies but not music. 98 % of music does not have enough bass for a sub to kick in....but some will boost the bass anyway using a subwoofer

4 out of 5 eggsMusic to my ears

Pros: -Clear, crisp sound
-Great power handling
-Can be easily bi-amped

Cons: -Could use a little more bass

Other Thoughts: Upgrading from a Home Theater In a Box to these and the results have been amazing. I have a Yamaha V573 (rated at 115W) driving them as front speakers (2.1 for now) and I can literally turn it almost all the way up without any signs of distortion. The bass is barely OK, and thats only if you're sitting directly in front of them. Even with a ported cabinet they are only 5.25" drivers after all. It's tight but doesn't get very low. I picked up a 10" Klipsch subwoofer and it really makes the overall sound full bodied. I'm so impressed with these I'm going with a pair of 45B's as my rear speakers.

5 out of 5 eggsPhenomenal Speakers

Pros: This is first foray into the audiophile grade of speaker and I can't say how amazed I am with these. I have been a big headphone guy for a while (current owner of Beyer T70s) and I never thought a good set of speakers could give me the level of immersion that my headphones gave. The sound on these guys is crisp, clear, and full bodied. I have run them through extensive tests (over 20 hours of testing) and can easily say that they are the best speakers I have heard; and I have listened to multi-thousand dollar setups! They are very flat and allow for a great range of music from the deep, bass-y lows to the shrilling treble-y highs. It's a shame they don't have the level of positive feedback that they deserve because they are truly some of the best speakers I have used.

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: Make sure when you hook these up that you run speaker wire from all four ports on the back. If you just use one set or the other, you'll not get the full sound. Also, make sure your receiver can power these guys. I would imagine most can but just make sure in case you have some old or cheap tech.

For a quick run through of some of my musical selection, I ran them through this set of tests:

Brahms Violin Concerto by Hilary Hahn - FLAC Quality

Borderlands 2 Soundtrack - 320 MP3

Numb by Linkin Park - CD Audio

Letter from Lost Days from Silent Hill 3 Soundtrack - FLAC Quality
