Polk Audio Monitor Series New Monitor 75T Four-Way Ported Floorstanding Loudspeaker (Black) Single
The name "Monitor" adorned the speakers that first made Polk famous. Monitor means simple, sturdy construction, clear, accurate sound, powerful bass and superior imaging (all at a surprising price). This new Monitor is classic Polk: a quality-built, affordable line of high performance loudspeakers for music and home theater. They are highly efficient, so they can be driven easily by unpretentious receivers, and they are voice-matched for lifelike surround sound environments. The Monitor Series boasts a stylish look that complements today's flat screen technology, with wood grain finishes and modern Titanium faces. Built for sound quality and value, the Monitor Series is a great introduction to high performance sound.

The New Standard for Classic Performance

This high efficiency floorstanding speaker is the flagship of the high performance Monitor Series. Its multi-driver design and non-resonant enclosure delivers the classic Polk sound (open, spacious and clear), even when driven by modestly-powered amplifiers and receivers. Its size guarantees a bold, realistic audio experience whether you’re building an extreme home theater or a sensitive stereo system.

Monitor 75T Features:

  • One-inch (25mm) silk/polymer composite Dynamic Balance® dome tweeter with powerful neodymium magnet structure delivers clear and detailed high frequency response for realistic reproduction of vocals and instruments.
  • Four 6-1/2-inch composite Dynamic Balance drivers are lightweight and stiff with good damping for high efficiency, excellent bass and lower distortion.
  • Multiple small-diameter driver design delivers wide dispersion, better mid-range, and more detailed bass response for an open, box-less, three-dimensional sound.
  • Non-resonant all-MDF enclosure construction with 3/4-inch thick baffles ensures cleaner, clearer, more lifelike sound quality. Tower models feature additional front-to-back and side-to-side internal bracing for further reduced resonance.
  • Crossovers use Mylar bypass capacitors for more detailed high frequencies.
  • Dual 5-way binding post connectors, allowing for more secure hook-up options, as well as bi-wiring and bi-amping flexibility.
  • Monitor Series speakers are "modern living accessories" that make a stylish statement in either black or cherry wood grain finish, with titanium faces.
  • Critically tuned flared port minimizes port noise (chuffing) for good low frequency extension with low distortion, resulting in natural, full-bodied sound with rich bass.
  • All Polk products are made using the best materials and the most advanced manufacturing techniques. They pass the industry’s most exhaustive quality tests, including drop testing, extreme signal response and UV & salt exposure testing. Polk loudspeakers are built to perform for a lifetime.

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding

Pros: Great Sound Quality for Price!
Well Balanced and great clarity
Design - Simple, sturdy

Cons: They are a little larger than I expected. But not really an issue.

Other Thoughts: Waited till they were $200ea. A really nice speaker for the price. Very impressed. I upgraded from the Polk Monitor 45b bookshelves. (Moved them to the rear) and now have the 75t's up front. I read some reviews that there is not enough bass out of these. When I re-calibrated my receiver there was more bass than expected. My room is on the smaller side. I can see how a sub could help with much larger rooms. I use a newer Onkyo Receiver and a Polk Sub with this setup.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for the money

Pros: Works great on my Yamaha RX-V573BL. Upgraded from the Polk Audio Monitor 35B that I had been using for a few months, which were nice as well, and I now use for rears. Polk Audio has the right price/performance ratio I'm after. I was looking build a good 5.1 home theater system under $1000.

I had previously been on a no-frills $100 home theater in a box. Huge upgrade.

Cons: A small wooden corner wedge/block was rolling around loose inside one of the speakers. I was able to reach into the port and take it out. It was previously held on by a tiny drop of glue.

Other Thoughts: I've read pages and pages about bi-amping vs bi-wiring and I'm STILL confused. Some say it's not true bi-amping unless you actually have 2 separate amps, on their own power supplies. However my receiver has a bi-amping feature. Not sure how it can call it bi-amping if it isn't bi-amping, but whatever, marketing lingo I guess...the speakers sound great even just single amped, so I'm happy.

5 out of 5 eggsJust Superb!

Pros: I Purchased 2 pairs of these Polk 75T's along with a PSW505 sub. Before these, I was using a 5.1 PC speaker setup, but I knew I was missing out of a lot of sound quality.

I wanted a setup that would allow me to hear every detail in my Music, Games, and Blu-Ray Movies while also being able to turn up the volume to feel the vibrations. Now I'm not into a lot of dubstep but I do occasionally listen to it. When I say "vibrations" I'm referring to the resonating sound of the music flowing through my room and house, such as Vocals, Pianos, Bass, Vocal Trance, oh and Violins SOUND AMAZING!

The 75T’s are amazing on every level! Even Bass! But I do recommend a PSW10 or PSW505 to get the THX theater feel in movies and music!(My room now sounds better than a movie theater!)

A quality receiver is a MUST! To achieve the best quality of what these speakers are able to produce you need a quality receiver! If not, you should not consider investing in these Polk Monitors. (Also high quality audio sources are strongly recommended. I personally think 320kbps compression is very ideal for music and saving space. For Movies, use uncompressed blu-ray’s!)

Currently Paired with a Onkyo 7.2 Receiver (TNRX515)

PC output audio – THX sound card & internal Blu-Ray player (HDMI 7.1-movies) and (Optical 5.1-music)

Have used nearly every day since I purchased these in July of 2013. They just keep sounding better and better!

Cons: None, just buy it if it's what you want!

Other Thoughts: WARNING: Friends and Family may become envious of your superb audio instruments!

WARNING: Your neighbors may file complaints because of the awesome sounds these make!

5 out of 5 eggsbi-amp these babies

Pros: I have the pleasure to say I am always blown away at the sound quality. Let me start with my stereo rig: pioneer sc-1222k receiver,pre-out to 2 carver sunfire 5ch amps. the speakers are bi-amped to my carver amps pushing well over 200 watts, I was able to find a pair of polk monitor 70's on another site for less than $300 which are hooked up to my pioneer, my center is the polk monitor 25, rear is a pair of polk F/Xi6 and rears are F/xi4 I'm also using 2 subs.
I have yet to see the full power because my whole house rumbles
I use these every day and have over 4tb of music I play via laptop digital optical out to my stereo. YOU CAN HEAR EVERY NOTE IN COMPLETE CLARITY AND NO DISTORTION AT HIGH VOLUME.
note: ur speakers are only as good as the receiver puts out to them so if u r upgrading one why not the other?

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: at the $250 range they are a good deal but newegg always has a deal promo code

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Buy at $200

Pros: Current Setup:
Yamaha RX-V775WA Reciever
2x Polkt 75T
Polk Tsi 150 Center
2x JBL 180 Rears

I am someone in general who is Hard of hearing but I love sound. I do not consider myself an Audiophile, but I know when something sounds good and when it does not.

I was comparing these speakers to the Kilipsh Speaker equivalent at Best Buy where they set up a 2000 dollar set up and initially was impressed. But after 20 minutes of playing around with them, the sound gave me a headache. After further research, it seems that the style of dome tweeters that they use do not agree with my ears, but they did sound good. This made me go on a hunt and I found these speakers used at Local Home Audio store by where I lived and I really enjoyed them. It was not the 75T but the Monitor 70, which I read are almost identical. I would have bought them right then and there but when I looked at the price of them new, I knew I could get a better deal here on New Egg and I did. Used they wanted around 350 dollars Each at my local AV store.

Music: I really like the reproduction the speaker creates with music. I can listen for hours with out any fatigue. The highs are real clear and the mids reproduce vocals very well. The only down fall I have is that the Lows are reproduced clearly but gives no real rumble. Maybe my reciever doesn't provide enough power and/or I should try Bi Amping them.

If you like Bass, I definately think a subwoofer is a must.

Movies: Sound reproduction in Movies and even with regular television is AMAZING. I hear things that I didn't know where possible to be heard. Voices are reproduced very well and clearly especially if your reciever produces 7 channel stereo sound or has different settings for different types of listening.

Something that I didn't even consider a factor till having them for a few weeks is how they sound at LOW volumes. As stated above, I'm hard of hearing, and even at Low volumes the sound is crystal clear and audible to a point that if I would have it at the same sound volume with the TV speakers, I would have to be standing in front of it to hear it clearly. My couch is about 17 feet away from the TV and I have the speakers set up on the corner of the rooms with the couch/listening position on the opposite wall in a 18x 24 foot room and boy, It has given me a new appreciation to sound.

Again, the only down fall is that without a subwoofer, a lot of sound affects dont have the thump that you might expect from a Full Tower.

It also goes loud which is great.

Over All, I'm really pleased with my purchase. When my wife first saw them, she immidiately said to send them back because it takes up some space, but after she heard them play, there was nothing more to say.

Cons: Definately needs a seperate subwoofer.

Other Thoughts: At 200 Dollars, I think they are a great value. I'm sure there are better speakers out there but you can't beat the price/performance with a stick. Supposedly, others have said they can be had at even better bargains right here on the Egg.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Satisfied

Pros: Great price from Newegg. Best sounding speakers I've owned yet.

Cons: There was a small tear in the fabric of one of the speakers grills out of the box. It's tiny though, and most of the time I don't notice it.

Other Thoughts: I currently have two of these hooked up to an Onkyo TX-NR616, with future plans of completing a 5.1 setup. For now though these two towers put plenty of sound, anything more would make for excessive noise bleed into the apartment units around mine. Bi-amping seems to give these a little more kick, which is good since I don't have a sub.

5 out of 5 eggsGREAT BARGAIN

Pros: Great "big speaker" sound; bi-amp; versatile

Cons: Big.

Other Thoughts: Great for music or theater use. Need break -in period before reaching best quality sound. Recommend sub-woofer for theater use or heavy rock or other bass oriented music.

4 out of 5 eggsRe: CRITICAL UPDATE

Pros: I gave the speakers 5 stars on August 24th 2013

SEE my review

Other Thoughts: It had been my impression that I did not need a subwoofer
BOY, was I wrong !
After using the 9.0 system for 9 months,
I just felt it was just "fair"
To be honest, I was disappointed ...
I then stumbled on the new SVS 500 watt SUB PB-2000
I was also influenced by THX - they recommend getting the biggest SUB your space and pocket can stand
I made the $800 plunge
The POLKS just hum
It's not the BASS It's the enhanced nuances throughout
the 17 - 260 HZ range
The POLKS need a quality SUB to achieve their potential !
