5 out of 5 eggsbi-amp these babies

This review is from: Polk Audio Monitor Series New Monitor 75T Four-Way Ported Floorstanding Loudspeaker (Black) Single

Pros: I have the pleasure to say I am always blown away at the sound quality. Let me start with my stereo rig: pioneer sc-1222k receiver,pre-out to 2 carver sunfire 5ch amps. the speakers are bi-amped to my carver amps pushing well over 200 watts, I was able to find a pair of polk monitor 70's on another site for less than $300 which are hooked up to my pioneer, my center is the polk monitor 25, rear is a pair of polk F/Xi6 and rears are F/xi4 I'm also using 2 subs.
I have yet to see the full power because my whole house rumbles
I use these every day and have over 4tb of music I play via laptop digital optical out to my stereo. YOU CAN HEAR EVERY NOTE IN COMPLETE CLARITY AND NO DISTORTION AT HIGH VOLUME.
note: ur speakers are only as good as the receiver puts out to them so if u r upgrading one why not the other?

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: at the $250 range they are a good deal but newegg always has a deal promo code

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Buy at $200

This review is from: Polk Audio Monitor Series New Monitor 75T Four-Way Ported Floorstanding Loudspeaker (Black) Single

Pros: Current Setup:
Yamaha RX-V775WA Reciever
2x Polkt 75T
Polk Tsi 150 Center
2x JBL 180 Rears

I am someone in general who is Hard of hearing but I love sound. I do not consider myself an Audiophile, but I know when something sounds good and when it does not.

I was comparing these speakers to the Kilipsh Speaker equivalent at Best Buy where they set up a 2000 dollar set up and initially was impressed. But after 20 minutes of playing around with them, the sound gave me a headache. After further research, it seems that the style of dome tweeters that they use do not agree with my ears, but they did sound good. This made me go on a hunt and I found these speakers used at Local Home Audio store by where I lived and I really enjoyed them. It was not the 75T but the Monitor 70, which I read are almost identical. I would have bought them right then and there but when I looked at the price of them new, I knew I could get a better deal here on New Egg and I did. Used they wanted around 350 dollars Each at my local AV store.

Music: I really like the reproduction the speaker creates with music. I can listen for hours with out any fatigue. The highs are real clear and the mids reproduce vocals very well. The only down fall I have is that the Lows are reproduced clearly but gives no real rumble. Maybe my reciever doesn't provide enough power and/or I should try Bi Amping them.

If you like Bass, I definately think a subwoofer is a must.

Movies: Sound reproduction in Movies and even with regular television is AMAZING. I hear things that I didn't know where possible to be heard. Voices are reproduced very well and clearly especially if your reciever produces 7 channel stereo sound or has different settings for different types of listening.

Something that I didn't even consider a factor till having them for a few weeks is how they sound at LOW volumes. As stated above, I'm hard of hearing, and even at Low volumes the sound is crystal clear and audible to a point that if I would have it at the same sound volume with the TV speakers, I would have to be standing in front of it to hear it clearly. My couch is about 17 feet away from the TV and I have the speakers set up on the corner of the rooms with the couch/listening position on the opposite wall in a 18x 24 foot room and boy, It has given me a new appreciation to sound.

Again, the only down fall is that without a subwoofer, a lot of sound affects dont have the thump that you might expect from a Full Tower.

It also goes loud which is great.

Over All, I'm really pleased with my purchase. When my wife first saw them, she immidiately said to send them back because it takes up some space, but after she heard them play, there was nothing more to say.

Cons: Definately needs a seperate subwoofer.

Other Thoughts: At 200 Dollars, I think they are a great value. I'm sure there are better speakers out there but you can't beat the price/performance with a stick. Supposedly, others have said they can be had at even better bargains right here on the Egg.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Satisfied

This review is from: Polk Audio Monitor Series New Monitor 75T Four-Way Ported Floorstanding Loudspeaker (Black) Single

Pros: Great price from Newegg. Best sounding speakers I've owned yet.

Cons: There was a small tear in the fabric of one of the speakers grills out of the box. It's tiny though, and most of the time I don't notice it.

Other Thoughts: I currently have two of these hooked up to an Onkyo TX-NR616, with future plans of completing a 5.1 setup. For now though these two towers put plenty of sound, anything more would make for excessive noise bleed into the apartment units around mine. Bi-amping seems to give these a little more kick, which is good since I don't have a sub.

5 out of 5 eggsGREAT BARGAIN

This review is from: Polk Audio Monitor Series New Monitor 75T Four-Way Ported Floorstanding Loudspeaker (Black) Single

Pros: Great "big speaker" sound; bi-amp; versatile

Cons: Big.

Other Thoughts: Great for music or theater use. Need break -in period before reaching best quality sound. Recommend sub-woofer for theater use or heavy rock or other bass oriented music.

4 out of 5 eggsRe: CRITICAL UPDATE

This review is from: Polk Audio Monitor Series New Monitor 75T Four-Way Ported Floorstanding Loudspeaker (Black) Single

Pros: I gave the speakers 5 stars on August 24th 2013

SEE my review

Cons: SEE BELOW

Other Thoughts: It had been my impression that I did not need a subwoofer
BOY, was I wrong !
After using the 9.0 system for 9 months,
I just felt it was just "fair"
To be honest, I was disappointed ...
I then stumbled on the new SVS 500 watt SUB PB-2000
I was also influenced by THX - they recommend getting the biggest SUB your space and pocket can stand
I made the $800 plunge
WOW ! WOW ! WOW !
The POLKS just hum
It's not the BASS It's the enhanced nuances throughout
the 17 - 260 HZ range
The POLKS need a quality SUB to achieve their potential !

5 out of 5 eggsExceptionally quality sound and build.

This review is from: Polk Audio Monitor Series New Monitor 75T Four-Way Ported Floorstanding Loudspeaker (Black) Single

Pros: These speakers sound fantastic. Top notch quality with an awesome appearance.
I consider myself a poor man Audiophile that builds my own home theater speakers, but these speakers were on sale at and I decided to give them a try and I can say these are the best speakers I have ever owned.
I hooked the speakers up to my Onkyo TX-NR1010 140W RMS/Channel as Front Main and was blown away by the fantastic clear and loud sound.
It made my modest home theater sound just like the movie theater sound.
I will be definitely be buying more in the future. Thank you POLK and NewEgg for making and selling a great product that I am proud to own!
✔ Yes, I highly recommend this product and if you are on the fence thinking about to buy, BUY these speakers you will not regret.

Cons: None.
Wished I could buy more. I will have to check with the CFO/wife to see if I am able to.

Other Thoughts: Will be buying more POLK products in the future.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent value tower speakers

This review is from: Polk Audio Monitor Series New Monitor 75T Four-Way Ported Floorstanding Loudspeaker (Black) Single

Pros: These Polk New Monitor 75T tower speakers are an excellent value! Great sound all around. Running full range, these generate enough bass (if adequately powered) that people may not need a subwoofer. Attractive cherry finish looks great too.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Paired with a Sony STR-DN1040 AVR, which provides ample power. I wouldn't say that these speakers are "power hungry", but I would definitely invest in a quality AVR that can output clean power. I've been very happy with these Polk New Monitor speakers, and I have to agree with other reviewers that these really are a bargain and sound as good as speakers that cost twice as much.

5 out of 5 eggsNice! (But best with a sub)

This review is from: Polk Audio Monitor Series New Monitor 75T Four-Way Ported Floorstanding Loudspeaker (Black) Single

Pros: Look great (I went with the cherry finish) sound great, especially in the midrange and up. I got a pair to go with a Yamaha RX-V573 in March 2013. They have a bright, clear sound that I find to be perfect for classical piano and other types of music not heavy on bass.

Cons: Nothing really. Some reviewers did not think a sub was necessary with these, but for me a sub has been well worth the cost.

Other Thoughts: I didn't think I would need a sub because (1) I have downstairs neighbors, and (2) I'm not big on thumping bass. I loved the way these sounded most of the time, but every once in a while I found the low end noticeably lacking. Songs like Peter Gabriel's Mercy Steet did not have the right heavy feel. It was rare enough that I went a whole year before finally breaking down and getting a VTF-1 from Hsu. The improvement is HUGE. Get a sub with these and I think you will love them.
Two caveats: the room I have them in is about 15x15 with 10-foot ceilings and large openings to 2 adjacent rooms, so acoustics are challenging. Also, another reviewer said the bass was much better with an amp, which I haven't tried.

5 out of 5 eggsAtheist that Said hearing these Heaven

This review is from: Polk Audio Monitor Series New Monitor 75T Four-Way Ported Floorstanding Loudspeaker (Black) Single

Pros: Picked this up last week, arrived in two days for $11 shipping with a Sub from Polk. I was expecting, even at 199 to sound good. Forget about it. While an Audiophile Novice, I have heard my friends 3000 each speakers. I had to call him over to set my reciver and all he knows and he ran out last night and bought FOUR of these for his summer home. Now that is saying something, this is his job daily installer.

Cons: None So far, I am still hearing tones in my head for bumping them past spec and my pro friend said crackle. WAY OVER spec on the Speakers. Karmon Hardon 3700 pushed hard. I would say for this price, no one should really have a con

Other Thoughts: I am just amaxed at $200 each, my gosh. Setup with a Harmon Kardon 3700 Receiver, I had to take off my Polk CS2 Center and Polk PSW10 Sub and two EF-500s, by the way al this but receiver bought at newegg over months waiting for sales. I am stoked Friend is installer for audio and video and said, NEVER DO THIS, then unhooked all but these speakers. About an hour of about lower than half receiver volume. Then He cranked it little by little with some test equipment and immediately that night, Last night, ordered FOUR. He has 3000 each speakers. HIs setup is about 15K+ and he said these towers are worth way more than the sale price. Made me almost wanted to buy two more just because. I RECOMMEND THESE AT NEWEGG TO ANYONE AT $200 a piece, DO NOT MISS THIS, even if you sit on them for another time.

5 out of 5 eggsPolk Monitor 75T

This review is from: Polk Audio Monitor Series New Monitor 75T Four-Way Ported Floorstanding Loudspeaker (Black) Single

Pros: Speakers look fantastic, but more importantly sound great. Do not seem to be power hungry like some other reviewers have stated. Delivered in two days, bought on sale for $169.00. Great deal. Like others have said, if you are interested, be sure to set up the email notifications so they tell you when they are within your price range. Don't hesitate.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I am running a pair of these as my main fronts and Monitor 65T's as backs. Hooked up to a Sony STR-DG720 which provides plenty of power to this set-up...these are not power-hungry speakers. I do have an independently powered sub-woofer hooked-up, however, and I would recommend this if you want to reach the lowest of the lows. But I have been listening to the newly remastered Beatles albums, and they just sound amazing. You hear things you have never heard before on these speakers. My current set-up is an upgrade from all Sony speakers and I truly have a sense that I am hearing everything and in the way the creators intended. TRON Legacy is a great Blu-Ray to test the setup.
