The name "Monitor" adorned the speakers that first made Polk famous. Monitor means simple, sturdy construction, clear, accurate sound, powerful bass and superior imaging (all at a surprising price). This new Monitor is classic Polk: a quality-built, affordable line of high performance loudspeakers for music and home theater. They are highly efficient, so they can be driven easily by unpretentious receivers, and they are voice-matched for lifelike surround sound environments. The Monitor Series boasts a stylish look that complements today's flat screen technology, with wood grain finishes and modern Titanium faces. Built for sound quality and value, the Monitor Series is a great introduction to high performance sound.

This 4-way ported speaker is the flagship of the high performance Monitor Series. Its multi-driver design and non-resonant enclosure delivers the classic Polk sound (open, spacious and clear), even when driven by modestly-powered amplifiers and receivers. Its size guarantees a bold, realistic audio experience whether you’re building an extreme home theater or a sensitive stereo system.

  • newegg Monitor-Grade Sound 1-inch (25mm) silk/polymer composite Dynamic Balance dome tweeter with powerful neodymium magnet structure delivers clear and detailed high frequency response for realistic reproduction of vocals and instruments. Four 6 1/2-inch composite Dynamic Balance drivers are lightweight and stiff with good damping for high efficiency, excellent bass and lower distortion. Multiple small-diameter driver design delivers wide dispersion, better mid-range, and more detailed bass response for an open, box-less, three-dimensional sound.
  • newegg Refined Bass Port Critically tuned flared port minimizes port noise (chuffing) for good low frequency extension with low distortion, resulting in natural, full-bodied sound with rich bass.
  • newegg Finest Crossover Circuit Crossovers use Mylar bypass capacitors for more detailed high frequencies.
  • newegg Sophisticated MDF Cabinet Non-resonant all-MDF enclosure construction with 3/4-inch thick baffles ensures cleaner, clearer, more lifelike sound quality. Tower models feature additional front-to-back and side-to-side internal bracing for further reduced resonance.
  • newegg Top Class Construction Dual 5-way binding post connectors allow for more secure hook-up options, as well as bi-wiring and bi-amping flexibility.
  • newegg Built to Last All Polk products are made using the best materials and the most advanced manufacturing techniques. They pass the industry’s most exhaustive quality tests, including drop testing, extreme signal response and UV & salt exposure testing. Polk loudspeakers are built to perform for a lifetime.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Speakers!

Pros: Bought these a few months ago, been very pleased so far. Rich sound. Some people claimed they didnt have much bass but, in my opinion, they must not be running enough juice into them. Delivered in perfect condition. Do not hesitate looking at the 'feet' of the speaker, they stand up straight.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Using a Onkyo NR-616 deck

4 out of 5 eggsGood product

Pros: They can be played very loud, they're very clear and great sounding. I have them connected to my yamaha rx-v671 receiver.

Cons: No bass at all. - good thing I have my pa-150 1000 watt subwoofer!

5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice!

Pros: Beautiful cabinets, the cherry looks great. Sound is great! I have a sub which helps. I have not run these without the sub. My receiver supports a bi-amp configuration which I used with these speakers. It seems to really help with the low freqs.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: There is a lot of debate of bi-amplification but I think it does make a difference.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Choice!

Pros: Sound great and look great. Plenty of bass. Vocals sound like they are in the room with you.

Cons: Two days after I bought them the price dropped $20.

Other Thoughts: So many reviewers complained of a lack of bass with these speakers but I don't agree. I have a 2 channel, 100 wpc receiver powering them and they sound great. The louder it plays the better they sound.

5 out of 5 eggsBass Response

Pros: Big Bass Is Available

Cons: Need more power than your AVR to produce bass

Other Thoughts: I love reading the variety of reviews here. Some are spot on, some are, well.......

If these 75T's are ANYthing like the Monitor 70's, they will give you good thumping bass.

Before I upgraded to the RTiA series, I owned the Monitor Series II with the M70's as mains.

I sold my entire 7.0 Monitor set up to a local in my area and as he came over to demo the speakers, I made sure he was aware that IF they didn't sound "this good" when he got them home, it was due to the power I was feeding them.

The big boy Monitors thrive on power to perform to their potential. When run on my Onk 807 (135wpc @ 2ch driven), the M70's would sound like most of the reviews here. When I added an XPA-3 (200wpc amp), the M70's responded with good bass response. When I demoed the M70's with an XPA-2 (300wpc), the buyer was quite relieved he didn't have a sub yet as the M70's put out bass felt in the floor (set at full range).

Under powering a speaker can result in clipping and even damage it or worse yet, damage your equipment as well. Over powering the speaker (in the case of the Polks) can and will produce the sound you had hoped for in the beginning.

So the final word here, if you think this speaker doesn't produce bass, try applying some "real" power to it, then feel free to go back and modify your review :)

3 out of 5 eggsYou get what you pay for.

Pros: Inexpensive & fast delivery.. appears to be a lot of speaker for the price. The crossovers networks are high quality and well made. My son is using the 75T's in his room and likes them for listening to Rap and R&R. But Rap would be high quality even on a tiny boom box speaker.

Cons: I bought 4 of these 75T speakers thinking about using them as surround sound and maybe even the main speakers if they were good enough. We have 3 listening rooms and are using Polk LSI-15's in the main living room. The LSI-15 are great speakers with amazing audio quality. But when we hooked up the 75T, the first thing noticed is there was no bass and using high quality reference recordings, we were unable to hear the individual orchestra instruments. Like the 4way crossover networks on the 75t dont have enough frequency overlap.

Other Thoughts: We will be using these 75t as the rear spkr's in surround sound for now.. But I plan to rewire these boxes for 3way crossovers as used in the Polk TSI-500 series. To see if I can improve the bass and mid range capability.

5 out of 5 eggsworks for me

Pros: well balanced highs and mids. Very very articulate at all volume levels. Natural tone no coloring.
Furniture grade finish on cherry. Nice for the wife.

Cons: no bass at all. No surprise as there is no bass driver. Thier tech writer should be fired. It's a great system once you realise this.

Other Thoughts: I know what 40 hz + or - 3 db sounds like. You will need to buy the matching bass if you want to hear any low end out of these. . I'm driving with an Onkyo 65 watt per channel in stereo for a theater system in a small room does the job at a purr or cranked. Just don't over drive the sub. Get a good balance for a wonderfull system. I've got about 4 systems at home and this one is realing surprising me .

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Starter Speaker

Pros: Very solid an stable, well built. No one ever talks about build quality on these reviews, this speaker is built very well and is not tippy at all. Yes, it sounds great, and has good base but it also looks good in my living room.

Cons: none found yet

Other Thoughts: I went to many AV stores and did demos. Everything I saw pointed to lower end speakers at this price point. The new egg price is outstanding and brings a high quality speaker down to my price point. I really didn't want to spend more then $175 per speaker but when I saw this deal I realized I wouldn't get this kind of quality at this price point.

Also bought the 25C center and I'm very happy with the comb.

5 out of 5 eggsWakes up your ears

Pros: What else can I say that hasn't already been said by others good reviews. Great speakers, an absolute steal for the $220 sale price.

Cons: LOL

Other Thoughts: To clear the debate with some claiming these are smaller 5.25", some claiming they are 6.5", NewEgg for the most part has all the specs correct. The 70T are 6.5" Mid/Woofer/Subwoofer 2 x 2, the 65T are the 5.25" Mid/Woofer x 3.

5 out of 5 eggsPolk.."A wolf in sheeps..."

Pros: Received my two 75T's.. one day.. overnight.. from Newegg. No shippment hassels... good condiition via UPS..

I have owned Klipschs all my life.. never look elseware. payed "big bucks" for them .. Saw these Polks on sale for "chump change" ..

I had taken a chance and purchased a Polk CS-1 two Monitor 25s from Newegg . they were fine. good build qaulity and design

Never thought.. im my wildest dream.. these Polk would perform anything like my Klispch "CF4" which they have replaced... as my main system speakers.
That speasks volumes

They are truly AWESOME. with my 9.2 system with two subs.. their performance is excellent.. They have a siginificaant presence, great seperation, excellent tonal quality and they.... "look good".
I enjoy mainly solo paino. Pavarotti, and New Age... no heavy, loud stuff. That's not music .. just noise..

These speakers are very accurate... I have baby grand and I play a little classical...so I tried a song or two and then listened to a recording of that song on the "Polks". very close.. I have a new Yamaha "Aventage" 1010.... so I have the Receiver and ears to hear......the difference

Cons: NO "real" base response.. They don't have the "chops" for a strong base response....

A know quantity... from the reviews.. and design..
You need at least one sub.. 2 subs are better.
Not an issue.. They are great speakers... for their "meager" price. I now use my "old" Klipsch CF4s as additonal rear speakers...
