3 out of 5 eggsThey're ok, but not as good as asking price would suggest.

Pros: Very natural sound, with a good subwoofer (16Hz - 20Hz real extension). They make a good 2.1 system. They play nice with tubes too. However, getting to cons now.

Cons: They are definitely not capable of 45Hz, you will need a sub for bass.
The speakers are not 4.5" as another reviewer mentions.
$449/each is a ridiculous price for these. For the money you can get way way better fronts unless you absolutely need wall mounting/bookshelf (these don't really do bookshelf and are too thick for wall mount). You'd be way better off at this price picking up a pair of Paradigm Monitor 9.7s.
Again on the price, these can be found for $300ish a pair on fleabay.

5 out of 5 eggsSimply AWESOME Mythos Two

Pros: Crisper sound, great highs, full mids, & solid bass. I can now hear the music and movies better:)

Cons: A bit heavy and missing screws/instructions but no big deal.

Other Thoughts: I never owned a pair of DefTechs until today. And after installing both on the wall, it was simply...AWESOME! I don't think it needs 50 hours of break in as it sounds much better already than my energy micro and Bose 301s. BTW, it was a steal for $149 a pop without any rebates. The only things missing were the screws and pamphlet. But again who needs those if you have a great sound for a great price!

1 out of 5 eggsDeftech Over

Pros: Decent build quality

Cons: Supplied specs are misleading at best.

Other Thoughts: Please read manrecon's review - it is on the money.
I purchased some 8040 series surrounds and feel like I was VERY mislead regarding specifications.
The mid-bass drivers are smaller that specs would seem to indicate and low frequency performance will not even come close to the specs (overall 50z spec), they will do about 200hz. I had also some promonitor 1000's spec'd at 8 ohms, DC resistance was about 3.4 ohms or so. That indicated an approximately 4 ohm speaker. They are not horrible but the Deftech specs are meaningless.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Size (depth in particular)
Mounting Options
Build quality

Cons: Bass, which is to be expected given the size

Other Thoughts: I was looking for a set of speakers to mount on the wall in front of a desk. Most speakers were too deep or sounded bad up close. The Mythos Two measure only 4" front to back, which worked nicely. I was hoping to not lose too much sound quality by restricting my search to smaller speakers, and these seem to fit the niche of form and only slightly compromised function nicely. Don't expect a lot of bass; I have them paired with a SuperCube II and the result is seamless. By themselves you would lose a lot of low end. For $200/speaker, I think these were a great deal and the build quality indicates I will be able to enjoy them for many year.

5 out of 5 eggsA lot of speaker here folks for the $$$

Pros: I was waiting for a good deal on Audiophile speakers and there they were. If you on the post about any new speaker system realize that you will not find a better set any where for years until a High end company revamps the speaker line and you find them on closeout per chance. You will kick your self hard if you let these slip away.

Cons: Speaker emblems are not easily reversible for custom installations but doable.

Other Thoughts: I missed out on the Boston Acoustic vs240 and I am glad I did!!! Also I tried out the supercub 4000 at a box store and it stood its ground against larger more costly subs, it sounded tighter (cleaner) response with as much punch. Tried REL, Martin Logan, and several others. I was impressed it Energized a 20x25 room. Go def tech...

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Speakers

Pros: Rediculously loud.

Crystal clear sound across the board.

Way more bass than any reasonable person should expect from speakers this size.

Great Price.

Best speakers I have ever heard in a home.
(And happily, in my home)

Cons: Wall mount bracket is very tight.

After you mount the bracket, you literally have to use your entire weight to slide the speakers onto the brackets.

Also the rubber plugs that cover the screw holes for the different mounting options are quite a pain to remove.

Video with the Definitive Technology rep showing how Bass Radiators work is terrible.
(Seriously? Your gonna demonstrate how great your product works by taping a light bulb to a spring and making it bounce around?)

There's gotta be a less embarrassing way to demonstrate how bass radiators work.

Other Thoughts: Well, I am no expert on speaker systems. (More of a computer nerd)

I cannot understand why anyone would have anything bad to say about these.

I thought the so called "Bass Radiators" were a big joke, as they seemed to do nothing.

Speakers sounded great, but not a lot of bass.
(Thats why I got a subwoofer)

But then I was messing around with the settings on my receiver, and noticed an option for what type of speakers I had.

I changed that to "Full Range" and unlocked the bass.

My buddy and I were blasting these for hours and were very impressed.

So much so, that we did not even notice that I never connected the subwoofer.

Of course you would still want a sub, but these sound pretty amazing with or without, as long as you setup your receiver correctly.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: First thing is they are great looking speakers especially when wall mounted. Secondly they are built like a tank, heavy and solid aluminum cabinets. Lastly, they are CRYSTAL CLEAR in the upper frequencies. Movie soundtracks are clean and natural also. On sale it is an awesome deal for what you get

Cons: They don't extend down to the lowest of bass frequencies HOWEVER, these are meant to be used with a subwoofer. Understand that going in and you can't go wrong Also room size will effect output of sound from the 2's. Big great rooms probably will need bigger speakers. Sound will vary from room to room

Other Thoughts: Google" reviews for the Mythos 2 " and even top reviewers say they sound great!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat sound for the money

Pros: Nice smooth mid and high range. I don't find the sound thin, at least in my environment, but your mileage may vary. Beautiful look next to a wall mounted TV.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Previous reviewer claims the drivers are 3", not the listed 4.5, which is not correct. You measure from outside edge to edge of the entire speaker not just the cone which is about 3.5".

1 out of 5 eggsdon't trust Def Tech

Pros: They look real nice and feel sturdy. The shipping is fast and service is always great from newegg. The price that newegg sells them for is the best online.

Cons: Def Tech has always lied on their specs. The mid woofers are actually 3 inches instead of 4.5 as stated on specs from their website. That makes their sound real thin. A sub won't make them sound any better. Frequency response in a typical room is 160hz to 17khz. There are better choices in newegg for better prices. This is coming from a sound engineer.

Other Thoughts: I don't love the Polks but sound better than these speakers.
