4 out of 5 eggsVery Portable

Pros: Love the fact I can take it anywhere. Nice case too!! Plenty of warning time usually with K, Ka bands. Very nice price here to boot.

Cons: Like most Laser detectors only works while the gun is on and pointed at you. Usually it is kinda late at that point. However if another vehicle is targeted you should have time.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for the money

Pros: Gives plenty of warning time. I have been hit with ka, pulsed instant on and laser.

Cons: Hard to see blinking light in daytime speaker alert not loud enough if you have music cranked up.

Other Thoughts: Lone wolf drivers might want something else. As long as there is some traffic this unit works good.

1 out of 5 eggsLate detection time

Pros: Easy to stow away and hook up, doesn't give many false readings.

Cons: Late detection time. We passed two parked State Troopers the other day, figured they wern't running radar gave a faint Ka chirp when we already right next to them. Gives about a 3sec warning, not enough time...chances are the officer will see you locking up the brakes and book you on reckless/careless driving instead of speeding.

Other Thoughts: I bought this it sucks, goes off about a second after you have seen and been seen by the cop. My friend has the S3 says the same thing, my friend has a hard wired Valentine1 which he swears by though. I'm pretty upset about the purchase as back in the day I owned Escort prodcuts that actually worked.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Made by Escort (same guy who started Valentine). Small, cordless, easily transferred from car to car (rental car, etc).

Cons: None really. No it is not as sensitive as a wired detector but you can't drive blind. You have to use some common sense. It picks up the instant on just fine. Problem is with the instant on is just that! It is INSTANT ON. If you are in a line of cars and the officer is driving toward you, you will have plenty of notice because the detector will keep alerting - use your head - there is radar up ahead. Going up over a hill, slow down. If you are out there all by yourself, be careful. A radar detector does not make your car invisible.

Other Thoughts: I had one of these for 5 years and never once got a ticket and I drive fast, very fast when I can. Not visible in daylight? That's why it has a buzzer - it also has a brightness control. The display got dimmer from the sun? Mine never did and it was always on the dash. Batteries had a fair life depending on what kind you used. I always took mine off the dash and put it away when I exited the car because I didn't feel like having some idiot break my window to get it. I did not buy mine from NewEgg got it directly from Escort but as all of us know, NewEgg pretty much rocks on their product, price and customer service. But don't be afraid of this detector - if you drive and use common sense you won't get a ticket with the Solo.

4 out of 5 eggsOwned for over 4 years

Pros: Cordless, case is nice for storage. nvr received a ticket with it on. My windows are tinted almost completely problems

Cons: If you leave it in your car on cold days and power it on, the screen can damage itself. My screen is lighter from doing this several times threw one winter season. My friends screen actually broke because of the same reason. keep it in home at night during the winter.

Other Thoughts: Ppl complaining it doesn't pick up at long distance dont have it mounted correctly.

1 out of 5 eggsCordless performance

Pros: Cordless
Will detect radar

Cons: Cordless

Poor performance

Other Thoughts: Cordless Radar detectors turn themselves on and off constantly to conserve battery. This will make alerts shorter, and the time it takes to alert to a signal much longer if it alerts at all.

I know what many of you are thinking, if it alerts then who cares? Police have many types of radar options, the main threat being where the officer can have the Radar gun OFF then turn it on when he likes to get a persons speed then shut it back OFF. A detector like this with minimal range, and slow response times will completely miss a radar gun like this. Then when you come around a corner or over a hill at 80mph, bam, your toast.

There is at least a dozen better detectors than this for the money your paying. Don't let the price make you feel protected!

4 out of 5 eggsIt Works Ok

Pros: A friend that owed me some favors gave me one of these after he bought a Valentine which does work much better. It works but if I had been speeding a couple of times, instant on radar would have gotten me. Oh, Wait, I Was Speeding, but the officer didn't see it. See other thoughts.....

Cons: For the money it isn't bad. I'm just not a fan of cordless things of this type.

Other Thoughts: I was fortunate enough to get the schematics for building a radar jammer, and I did :). I was also fortunate enought to have a friend in the electronics biz that got me some of the more exotic parts. It's just a variation of the radar units that the cops use and you are just sending the signal back at them. If you are creative enough you can hide everything and the car would have to be torn apart to find everything :) cause they aren't exactly legal.....

5 out of 5 eggsCordless and it Works Great!!!

Pros: It's Cordless, Small, and it just Works!

Cons: The Visor Clip should be included with the product

Other Thoughts: Used Escort Solo's for more then 10 Years, only ticket was with a instant-on radar hit from the side from behind a billboard. No other vehicles in front of me for the alert. =(
Don't listen to all these Haters & Fan Boys!

5 out of 5 eggsextended ownership

Pros: Adequate protection for wireless.

Cons: No wire to forget to plug in. Battery life isnt too shabby.

Other Thoughts: I payed original price for the S2 5 years ago, and it's still going strong! Lithium batteries last forever in it, it's great not having any stupid cords hanging all over my dash. As for performance, I have always had enough warning for radar. You probably are getting some delay due to battery power, and I'm sure wired is better. For me though, I can't STAND having loose wires on the dash, so it was either this or no protection at all. No tickets 5 years later is a good testament I think. Not to mention I paid >$300 at Worst Buy for it. It's a steal for the current prices.
