Pros: I bought this originally for quick digital recording. I had a single SM81 hooked in and recording some drum tracks, some acoustical guitar, etc, it worked exactly as advertised. I later ran a mixer to it for some live digital recording. To this day, it records every church service, over a year later.

Cons: Plastic construction, so be careful with placement.

Other Thoughts: This is for simple digital recording. If you already have a mixer, and want to simple record some audio for posting on the net, or even amateur live CDs, this is your interface.

Pros: The main reason why I bought this is because I wanted a convenient solid connection, with no fuss messing around with bad wires. At first, there was a little bit of "computer thinking" noise in the audio. It eventually disappeared with use. It's great for narrating videos, audio chats, or using Rosetta Stone.

Cons: I would give this unit a higher score if it was more flexible. You can only plug in a condenser microphone. The manufacture once said you can plug in a dynamic, but later they changed their minds. Before purchase, I thought I could hook up a pre-amp to it, so I could run an instrument cable through the device to record a few quick song ideas. That doesn't work. In fact I think it broke my pre-amp.

Other Thoughts: Use an xlr cable in between your condenser microphone and the Blue Icicle. The silver circle that says "blue" is a knob and it controls the volume. I only plug the unit in when I use it and I unplug it when it's not in use. I don't recommend this as a solution to record songs. I have a multi-track recorder for song recording.

Pros: It sounded great, sounded great with any of my microphones. I never had a problem until today.

Cons: It fried inside, it isn't recognized through any of my computers anymore. None of my windows based computer, my desktop, my laptops (I tried 2 different laptops, and MSi laptop, and a Dell laptop) OR my Mac Book pro...

it feels like its made out of the cheapest plastic in the world.

Other Thoughts: I wish it would have lasted longer.
