4 out of 5 eggsGood player

Pros: Very good player, plays many formats and the network streaming works well over Ethernet, from my DROBO server. Have not tried the WiFi adapter, but I would assume if their was a strong enough signal, there shouldnt be any streaming issues there either.

Plays many file formats without issue, and the quality is great. Im quite surprised such a cheap device which has been around for a while can decode and play 1080p videos so well.

Cons: The only thing preventing me from giving this 5 stars is that you have to have the video files in your house some where - ie it cannot be used for youtube or netflix. I know it wasnt meant to be, however given its networking capabilities I see no reason not to offer a firmware upgrade to support netflix and other streaming services - it would also help drive sales significantly as that is probably a much larger market.

There was a firmware upgrade that offered some sort of internet streaming, but I have not tried it as it is quite confusing, requires a static URL, and does not seem to offer any ability to browse content. Some more clients for this device would be great, that way it would see a lot more use then it does.

Also, I was a bit surprised it doesnt seem to support flash videos... They can be downloaded from youtube and played in a browser without internet. Not a big issue, however given how many formats this device supports i was surprised to learn i would have to convert a video from youtube before playing it here

Other Thoughts: Overall:

Great value, versatile in format support, great quality, offers playback from 3 places (local network - shared folders on computers or servers, internal drive if present, or USB stick), lacks real support for online videos though

5 out of 5 eggsbest media device ever

Pros: I have 2 and plan to buy more if still available. Plays everything I throw at it, including ISO files. Works great as a media server as it can be seen on network from other HV335T and computers.

Cons: Can't believe newegg no longer stocks these, or even worse they are no longer produced. Last I looked Argosy hasn't anything else that comes close to this device in capability (or anyone one else for that matter).

Other Thoughts: This may be the best choice as a network media storage device at around $80 without drive at the time I bought it. NAS devices seem to cost well over $100 per drive slot (with out HDD). I have two with 2Tb drives installed each in seperate rooms, I can play media from either device through my home network to either TV using them. Start watching something in one room and finish watching in another room. Great! I have all my media stored this way, wife has "millions" of photos she can view at leisure, as well as music and videos/movies.

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad

Pros: -Coming up on 2 years and it still works.
-It has almost every port you could need
-Supports most file types including .MKV and .m2ts which are the ones I was looking for.

Cons: -The GUI (Graphical User Interface) is rubbish. It functions fine but is really cheaply designed.
-There are several buttons on the remote that do nothing.

Other Thoughts: I replaced the HDD inside with a 2TB and it works flawlessly.

4 out of 5 eggsSurprisingly Good

Pros: This does a great job with all the video I've thrown at it. It also handles ISOs just fine. You do need to manually set the video configuration correctly when switching between output devices.

Cons: This just does not like Western Digital drives. I originally bought a 2TB WD drive that was outside the dates and firmware revisions known not to work. But no luck. I finally bought a 2TB drive that was explicitly listed on the approved list and it works like a champ. FYI - it does support folders just fine, so you can organize your collection and minimize the scrolling required to select movies.

Other Thoughts: I'm really impressed with how well this works. It's easy enough to use that the non-techs in my house can use it as well.

I would like to see user-customizable themes on the interface and maybe something a bit more modernized.

5 out of 5 eggsLOVE IT!

Pros: Plays everything I thought at it! from the HDD or flash drive.
AVI, MKV, 1080i, 720i, divx, everything I have works!

Cons: not so much a con but, the interface is cheesy and it's menu is alphabetical so you half to scroll through your collection to find the movie you want but, I can live with it not having 400+ DVD to lose or deal with anymore.

Other Thoughts: I bought this just for my DVD collection. the 1TB hard drive I put in holds my needs. If your looking for a box and don't need to stream from online, this is the box for you!

5 out of 5 eggsOne of the best HDD Media Player

Pros: After updated to the newest firmware, the thing is fast and great to use. It can play anything I throw at it. In order to get the the DVD menu to work correct, make sure the DVD is inside a folder. Inside that folder there must be AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folder. Although, the AUDIO_TS is empty it must be there in order for the DVD menu to work. ISO files will play perfectly, but the DVD menu will not work.

Cons: Remote control

Other Thoughts: Must update to newest firmware from v. 2.3

3 out of 5 eggslook elsewhere

Pros: Good price, possibility for a internal HDD is cool, support a lot of format, acces network share effectively, easy firmware upgrade.

Cons: color are often a little wrong, huge problem with speed when you want to copy from PC to the HV335T HDD using the 'share server' option, UI is bad ... mix that with the remote and you'll see... it doesnt respond very well and scrolling is a pain !

Other Thoughts: this could be THE BEST device but there's too much flaw in the UI/firmware/hardware ... this is very disappointing

i used HDMI with SPDIF to test this device ( VR version )

4 out of 5 eggsA solid player

Pros: One of the cheaper players and competitively priced, easy firmware upgrade, plays every video format I have, plays all subtitles, iso and ts menus work.

Cons: I received an older non "VR" model. I don't think it makes a difference function wise besides how it turns on. Just make sure you use the correct firmware version.

Other Thoughts: Did a lot of research on this and narrowed the choice to the HV335T, the Briteview Cinemago and WD Live. listed a lot of players but the "top rated" ones were more than I wanted to pay. All three had supporters and detractors so I trolled the support and firmware forums and found that Argosy had the least complaints. Seems that the WD firmware releases are buggy (their latest one for example) and while the WD gui looks good I'd rather have performance rather than marketing. So it came down to Cinemago and Argosy and my research indicated that the HV335T would play more formats which was the deal maker for me. I have thrown everything I have at it, from mpg, mkv, avi, mp4, vob, iso from 480i to 1080p without a single problem. Coupled with a WD Passport Essential portable drive, this has been trouble free so far. Great value and performance.

I don't bother with networking so I can't comment on file sharing or streaming functions. I did not install an internal drive.

4 out of 5 eggsgreat set top box

Pros: Simple, easy to set up and use, variety of compatible formats. Had all of the necessary cables. Displays DVD menus on ISO files.

Cons: Wish it was a little smaller in size, though not a major complaint. Adjusting the device's volume cannot be done while video is playing, must go in to the settings menu.

Other Thoughts: Great device, considering buying another for the common area at work.
