3 out of 5 eggskinda nice...with limitations

Pros: decent image quality... if you don't need the video's a great unit... it even displayed some 20mb jpeg-images; altho those took several seconds to load.

Cons: video mode limits... says it will play MP4 won't... it WILL play AVI files, so long as the image is 640x480, or LESS... audio must be mp1, or mp3... my audio did NOT sync with video on larger files (over 1mb)... could not find any tech data on this... disappointing... it uses an AC-adapter (ONLY)...power draw is 5 watts; if power is disconnected, you need to re-start thru audio output.

Other Thoughts: WARNING.... some genius at HP made the remote a giant refrigerator-magnet..!!... if you happen to place it near a hard could trash your data..!!...remote uses a pricey flat battery...a larger remote (NON-magnetic) that used cheap AAA batteries, would have been MUCH better

1 out of 5 eggsAvoid

Pros: OK when it works and it looks decent just doesn't work as it's supposed to for very long.

Cons: Freezes often, which seems to be a common problem when I searched for answers online.

Remote only seems to work if your within 12" of the frame, so it's kind of useless too.

Other Thoughts: Keep your receipt because you will probably have to return this.

3 out of 5 eggsNot Bad

Pros: Good picture quality. Many display customization options.

Cons: Clunky interface and remote. 512MB internal limit.

Other Thoughts: For the reviewer who complained about the size limit vs USB drives. It is clearly documented in the specs.

1 out of 5 eggsFlawed Offering from HP

Pros: Inexpensive, 800x600 resolution, 8" image display.

Cons: Has some sort of internal limit on number of images that can be displayed. My family collection runs 24,000 images, and it can't deal with that. That number of images fits on less than a 4 gig SDHC card, and as they offer 8 gig and 16 gig cards, it will be very easy to want a digital frame to be able to handle large numbers of images and do a sequential slide show of them. THIS ONE WON"T DO IT.

There are frames out there that do not have this limitation, but nothing the vendors tell you will help you figure that out. I bought three, this HP, a C***, and one from A*******. I returned the HP as being fatally flawed, and kept the C*** unit that actually worked for my situation. I also returned the A******* unit.

Other Thoughts: Even contacted HP tech support, and they were particularly worthless on my issue.

5 out of 5 eggsUse as video player

Pros: I've used similar devices for 2+ years as desktop movie / TVshow players from compressed files. Works great as a small player while I'm doing other things on the big box. Small footprint for a third screen.

Cons: Have not used this particular model.
