4 out of 5 eggsDigital Picture Frame

Pros: The frame displays the photos very nicely. Good resolution for it's size and cost. The auto on/off timer is a nice touch to save batteries. Don't tell someone that there is a timer and it will scare them thinking that the fram is posessed. Several options for timings, slideshows, and sequence. It comes with several printed manuals in different languages.

Cons: About the manuals. They didn't match the frame that I received. The instructions did not follow along with what you see on the screen. The buttons to move through the menu can be a bit tricky to use. Once you get use to them its ok, but they are tricky to learn. Does not play audio files, but I really didn't need that feature.

Other Thoughts: Overall it is a good frame for the money. I didn't care for it to play audio files so that really is not a con. Still waiting on the rebate, but it's only been 2 weeks. I have only used the SD card slot so I don't know about the other interfaces yet.

5 out of 5 eggsCF Type II Flash Card Not Supported

Pros: As a digital camera accessory for displaying camera images from the flash card, it's great. Simply pull the flash card out of your camera and plug it into the ViewSonic. Poof! - like magic, your images instantly appear on the display. No programming, no fussing, truly plug and play. Great for reviewing images or to instantly show the digital photos to a group of people. Display quality is excellent. Unit is substantially built with a professional look and feel. Price is a bargin.

Cons: #1 The filthy rotten scum sucking pig that forgot to mention that CompactFlash Type II flash cards are not supported in this unit. Not Newegg's fault, I went to the ViewSonic website and ViewSonic leaves out this detail in their own tech specs. Booo! Hisss! I purchased two 2GB Sandisk Type II CF cards from Newegg and neither card would work. It took me awhile to determine that it wasn't the flash card. It was the ViewSonic. I put the Sandisk card into my 9 year old Nikon Coolpix 950 digital camera - it worked perfectly. I put the Sandisk into my new iMac (via USB Sandisk reader) - it worked perfectly. Then the ViewSonic - nothing, no images found. #2 The unit has changeable settings and they do work, but it takes about 30 minutes to get the hang of pushing the menu buttons in the right order to get what you want. #3 Images must be 800 pixels wide to properly fit on the screen. Smaller pixel width equals smaller pictures on the display screen, there is no automatic fit to screen feature

Other Thoughts: Knowing what I now know, I would absolutely buy the ViewSonic again. So why the rant? Because it took me 6 hours of trial and error to discover that I bought the wrong Type II instead of Type I card. Who knew? In the computer industry, it's almost a rule that the newer standard supports the older standard. By that logic, one might think that Type I is support under Type II - but that is not the case. Had I known, I would have bought a 2GB Type I card instead.

4 out of 5 eggsBought for xmas present for wife

Pros: Nice picture, classy looking frame, USB and flash memory card

Cons: menu interface somewhat tricky, no biggy though. As mentioned military time only (24 hour clock).

Other Thoughts: Would buy again. Newegg always rocks, quick shipping.

5 out of 5 eggsViewSonic 7" Digital Frame

Pros: Crisp & bright picture quality! Most frames this size have 480x234 resolution but this one is 800x480...what a difference! I really like the auto on/off feature and the internal battery! The clock is a nice feature but only displays as 24 hours…this can be turned on or off though. Pictures display in full screen (no black lines) unless it’s a vertical photo. No problems with USB as stated in older reviews.

Cons: 24 hour clock
No remote
No speakers

Other Thoughts: I bought this for work so I wanted something small with good picture quality & this was perfect! I didn't want speakers or a remote but did list them as "cons" in case these are important to you.

5 out of 5 eggsViewsonic Digital frame

Pros: Good format selection, easily able to use the product. everything is good. There is nothing wrong with this frame, i guess i was just expecting more bang for the buck. Don't get me wrong, it's comparable to all the other digital frames and it works perfectly. I was just expecting more.

Cons: Technically, no cons that i've found thus far.

3 out of 5 eggsworks good

Pros: pictures are bright and look great when at the right viewing angle, design is nice and modern. rebate nice.

Cons: too expensive, viewing angle can easily distort because of such a small screen. controls take a bit getting used to, no usb port on device for flash.

4 out of 5 eggsViewSonic 7"

Pros: Nice Pictures. 800x600 Resolution although default pictures were smaller (?). Bought for girlfriend as Christmas gift and it took her cameras 4:3 7MP photos straight off the sd card no formating and displayed them nicely and sharp with only the smallest sliver of white on the right(not even visible if background changed to gray).

Cons: No sound. No remote(would help eliminate the initial awkwardness figuring out the control and I'm lazy)

Other Thoughts: Don't know if it plays video or not but there isn't any sound so I'm assuming no. Good quality for a basic frame. Would buy again.

3 out of 5 eggsNo real manual and interface not intuitive, but alright after a while

Pros: The frame looks nice, and the display quality is adequate for the images captured by my 2 megapixel camera.

Cons: Comes with a quick start guide (in six languages), but no other instructions whatsoever. Interface is not particularly intuitive and it took a while to get to the point where I felt like my button presses were non-random. Button design itself is strange and inconsistent (some buttons small and round, others long and skinny, with no apparent pattern). It's as if they used whatever parts were left over from another product.

Other Thoughts: There is a notice inside the box that mentions the firmware update required for USB support. This notice includes approximately 10 URLs where the update can supposedly be had, although at the time of this review it does not appear to be available on the U.S. ViewSonic site. A quick web search revealed that it was easily obtained from ViewSonic's Singapore site. Fyi, when you do the update, be sure that the firmware file is the only file on your memory card, or it will probably not work (at first, the frame started displaying some photos on my SD card instead). Also, it might have been nice for ViewSonic to include a USB female-female coupler so that flash drives could be easily connected to the frame's included USB cable.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Pictures are very sharp. Although there is something in the box that indicates that the USB isn't yet functional, it is and I was able to load pictures from my laptop to it without any problems. The frame shows up on my laptop as three removable drives. One of the drives is the internal flash memory resident to the picture frame and the other two drives allow you to access flash memory cards that may be plugged into the unit.

Cons: There is no instruction manual, just a quick start guide. There is not much on the Viewsonic website, and it's not easy to locate the support area for the picture frame although it not that helpful if you do find it. There is no remote as referenced by another reviewer. The clock is 24 hour time only, but I assume it will be fixed in a later version of the firmware. The frame is date aware, but doesn't allow you to display the date in the slide show mode. The transitions available in slide show mode are unimpressive, and probably best turned off. The auto on and off timer only allows a single on and off time each day, and has no provision for different scheduled for the weekend, but you could purchase a plug in lamp timer from a home automation store if you desire more extensive control.

Other Thoughts: This product is not up to Viewsonic's usual high standards.
