I kinda love it
- Pros: this thing is great! played every mpeg format-(divx, xvid ect.) movie that i've tried so far :) Bought 8gb sdhc, and now i plan on filling every bay with a card - it takes several types and they show up like hard drives on the browser. I already have 8 movies, 100+ songs, and 50 of our favorite pics on this little beauty.
- Cons: no AM/FM radio - And the instructions are breif to say the least, but at least they're in four languages
- Other Thoughts: after playing with the card from my camera for some time, upon returning the card to my camera i was basically told to reformat the card:( I plugged it in to my cpu and noticed several files that didnt belong, removed them-card worked fine in camera again, no loss. I would have to say be careful switching cards back and forth between devices.
Overall, not a bad gift
- Pros: The amount of internal memory (128 MB), the quality of the screen and the interface made this a wonderful Mother's Day gift for ... well ... my mother. (grin) The remote control is a nice addition too!
- Cons: There is a limit to the number of photos that can exist on the root folder. So, for 300 pictures, I had to create three Pictures folders and drop my photos into one of the three. Also, there is not a random function when showing the pictures ... so when you turn on the device, it starts at the same spot again.
- Other Thoughts: New Egg had these items priced very well and I think I got free shipping too, which is great! All in all a decent purchase and Mom called to say she watched the pictures all night on Mother's Day evening.

Overall, not a bad gift

Defective item
- Pros: None
- Cons: Defective item was delivered; didn't work and returning it back
- Pros: I got this for my parents, and the interface is simple enough that they should have no problem using it. It even comes with a little remote! Display looks nice enough, obviously more compressed images won't look great.
- Cons: The quick-start guide in the box doesn't mention what photo/music/video formats the thing is compatible with (though they are listed on the Newegg page and Viewsonic's product page). It is compatible with the files that'll be most common, JPEG, MP3, MPEG, but I'd really like to have more options. I know my dad will get upset that it won't play Quicktime .mov files he makes with iPhoto/iMovie.
- Other Thoughts: Apparently you can use it as a card reader, and access the internal memory?, by plugging it into a Windows PC with a mini-USB cable; but the cable isn't included.
