Pros: Nice looking frame. Great picture. Fairly easy to use. Cheap.
Cons: Sound quality of the built in speaker isn't great but I didn't really expect it to be. An audio out would be nice though. Built in memory would be nice as well. Even if it's just a few megs for a handfull of favorite pics.
Other Thoughts: Bought as a gift and just opened it to test it out. So impressed I bought another for a gift for someone else. Now that these are sold out I think I might buy a couple more of the white version while they're still on sale.

Minor limitations but not shabby
Pros: The relative virtue of the VFM823-50 for quasi-continuous operation is that it draws only 5 watts; half the power consumed by many comparably sized netbooks/tablets. The screen's 4:3 aspect ratio enables acceptable display of either/both landscape and portrait images; less well accomplished on fashionable widescreens. Thus far my sample has been pixel-defect free. The unit has no internal image memory, but offers both an SD card slot and a flashdrive/USB port that can be employed quasi-concurrently. In my limited experience, each port appears hot swappable and not fussy re memory device characteristics. Nor do JPEGs require pre-formatting to meet specific, narrow size/resolution criteria. The fast/slow slide-show timing range choices cover only circa 6-12 seconds; BUT, alternatively, the interval can be set to any desired longer interval.
Cons: Clearly, to achieve its consumer product category raison d'être, a digital picture frame should be: 1) slim and attractive itself, 2) auto-scale and display JPEGs at good quality, 3) run reliably for years, 4) consume substantially less electrical power than a netbook or tablet, and 5) sell for a fraction of a netbook or tablet's retail cost-- else, what would be the point of buying a limited purpose digital-electronic photo frame?
Other Thoughts: Although heretofore an uncommon photo-frame feature, the unit can also display suitably coded video (including MPEG2 and MPEG4 simple-profile, though not higher resolution H.264) accompanied by properly in-synch monaural audio through its tiny internal speaker. Unfortunately the frame lacks an audio-out jack/option, as would be useful to drive better quality (powered) external speakers or a HiFi.

Great Picture Frame
Pros: Cost, sleek looks, plays back ground music files.
Other Thoughts: I wish I had gotten a couple more of these. It is a really great unit.
