Pros: Love Tivo! This replaced my old cable DVR. A lot of people with cable or Directv think they have a "Tivo". They don't. The ease of use with searching for shows is so nice. I also upgraded the built-in drive to a 1tb drive for over 1200 hrs recording capability.

4 Year Customer to Tivo

Pros: Tivo is an amazing service that is just a few dollars more a month than renting a DVR from your local cable company. With that being said, that extra money is well worth the service that you get with it. You can purchase and rent movies from ama-zon or use Netflix with it as well to stream your movies and tv shows in HD.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This is my 4th Tivo that I have purchased and it is a must have for me. To those of you complaining about the service and not working with direct tv, that is clearly stated on their website. It is not the companies fault that you didn't read prior to purchasing this product.

Subscription Fees too high

Pros: Works great if you pay the $13 per month to TiVo.
Will work as a HDTV Digital Air Antenna Tuner/HDTV Set top box tuner for older TV's with no Dig. Tuner built in, but it will not show the guide that transmits from the stations over the air, only shows the one it downloads via phone/Ethernet cable available through contract subscription service.

Cons: It won't play or record at all without paying $13/month.
I Totally got burned on this. I thought I could get it as a digital tv tuner and record shows from PBS Kids for daughter during initial trial period without service. This worked but after a couple of weeks it shut down and would no longer play or record. and barely worked as a tuner.

Other Thoughts: Do your research! I've heard so much about TiVo I believed the hype was justified. It is definately not worth the money. If they are going to be charging so much for a contract service they should be giving these boxes away like they do cell phones.
