3 out of 5 eggsMixed feelings

Pros: Unit works as expected. Unit is to make the Tivo DVR have Wi-Fi capability. Unit is not what I would call plug & play. More like plug & pray. For someone with limited knowledge or lacks patience, this addition could be frustrating. I have years experience and a BSEET in electronics and still found this addition a bit convoluted compared to other off the shelve streamers.

Cons: Though this review should be about the wireless adapter, the real problem was the Tivo unit it's self. I bought a Tivo DVR no realizing it needed yet another $90 addition to be able to use with Wi-Fi. (My ignorance for not researching - Do not have cable and intended to use with antenna and Wi-Fi). So, I ordered the $90 Wi-Fi adapter so I could stream TV. Hooked it up. It requires yet another computer to program the adapter (sadly too difficult for the average person - especially when other streamers connect automatically). Once up and running, I discover that I can't stream anything without purchasing a $16/mo prescription just to use the Tivo. NOT. Packed up the unit and returned it. Picked up a Roku for less than the cost of the "adapter", and got back another $150 for the Tivo. Plugged in the Roku and watched it automatically connected to my Wi-Fi in seconds and start working in seconds. A far cry different than the Tivo.

Other Thoughts: It's kind of sad. Tivo is a "high end high quality" product. To me, it's just a bit "dishonest" in that fact that the unit costs $150 bucks (basically paying for the DVR) but comes with NO wifi support unless yet another additional $100 unit (and a PC to program) just to stream. Then requires yet another $16/mo just to be able to use it all. There is small fine print on the box that says I needed the adapter, but after looking at six other brands on the shelf I missed it. I call Tivo dishonest because there is NO mention of the monthly service fee. Forget you Tivo. Roku costs $68 bucks and has no hidden fees. There are half a dozen streamers on the shelf that are all easy to use, automatically connect to the already built in Wi-Fi capability and cost nearly nothing compared to your difficult to use "hard drive" with no Wi-Fi support.

1 out of 5 eggsDoesn't Work with All Tivo Models

Pros: None

Cons: Doesn't work with all Tivo models. I have a Humax Tivo and it doesn't have the same Ethernet style plug which this network adapter uses. The peculiarities of this device are not noted in any of the details on the product page. Worse is Newegg will not refund this product. So the product fails and so does Newegg. I have never seen a wifi device that doesn't connect via USB.

4 out of 5 eggsworks great

Pros: easy setup , fast connection . read other thoughts

Cons: gets hot . hope its UL listed

Other Thoughts: after using tivos wireless g for several years i applaud this wireless n upgrade . its capable of both 2ghz and 5ghz wireless connections, its signal is fantastic and rock solid much better then the wireless g . even setting it up was simplistic . i manually set it up with my laptop and was amazed . first, it gets a better signal then my laptop "Intel ABG wireless" card with a 3 antenna. i benched the tivo n adapter and was amazed. it connected to my 5ghz wireless n router and was getting around 99.21mbps downloads and 15.48mbps uploads . this is on par with wired Ethernet and is just about the max of my 110mbps/15.mbps Internet speed .i need to point out a tree fell on the cable lines so as of now i am not getting my max internet speed on any device . so in other words i believe its even faster then i was able to test. the only thing that concerns me is the heat out put . it gets very hot . i hope its UL listed . speed, rock solid connection, it makes a good, fast wireless choice

3 out of 5 eggsShould have bought a wireless AP

Pros: It finally worked

Cons: Had to connected it to my PC 3 times to get the setup to stick. TiVo could not find my DHCP server so I had to manually assign settings.

Other Thoughts: Its basically a wireless and wired adapter in one. Connects to the TiVo's ethernet port and then wirelessly to the AP/Router.
In hind sight I should have ordered an AP, at least then I would have more then one ethernet port.

5 out of 5 eggsTiVo "N" goodness

Pros: Lower cost than through TiVo. Easy setup instructions. Works.

Cons: somewhat messy cabling setup.

Other Thoughts: This is setup on my TiVo Premiere using a netgear WNR3500. The instructions have you use the "WPS" switch on the router, then the tivo adapter - works flawlessly with this setup - this is the 2nd TiVo-N adapter I've setup.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product!

Pros: Faster Connection

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This works 100 times better than the G adapter, which I had for a couple of years before I got this one. I couldn't watch Netflix on my Tivo with the G because it constantly buffered and you simply couldn't watch the movie. I was going to buy a new wireless router but thought the one I had was a very good one so I tried this adapter first. It worked!!!
