The proprietary Articulated Array speaker design combined with the TrueSpace digital processing circuitry delivers a multi-channel sound experience with just two speakers. 1 out of 5 eggsnot a good choice

Pros: looks nice

Cons: doesn't give me the sound quality i was expecting. the analog wires provided is very basic so the sound quality is not the same.
i should've listen to all the bad reviews of this product and not purchase this.
Worst of all, you can't return this to even if you have purchased it here. you have to call Bose and try to return it to them.

Other Thoughts: is the most user unfriendly site ever.

5 out of 5 eggsAwwwwwsooooommmmeeeee!

Pros: Ok, first of all, the speakers arrived 3 days after I placed the order.....Great! When I got them set up (which was very easy by the way) I was blown away. The sound is incredible. It is so clear and crisp, even at low volumes. But then, if you do turn it up, you don't feel like you're being overwhelmed with just "loud sound." You truly do feel "immersed" in the action, just like in the movies. I really don't understand why you would want a 5.1 system. This is just great. I should be getting my 52" Samsung today from Newegg, and I can't hardly wait to set it up with these speakers. So glad I got these before March Madness!

Cons: It is a little inconvenient that the module has to be >3ft away from the TV, but no big deal. I also didn't realize that the speakers should be 3ft apart. We don't have a whole lot of space, but we made it work. The only other con I have is that I should have gotten these sooner!

Other Thoughts: Great system, and ordering from Newegg was a breeeze. I will definitely use them again. Compliment: I ordered the Bose speakers and the Samsung LN52A650 separately. I found out later that if i ordered them as a "combo" I would get $50 off. I asked them if I would still be eligible for that, and they credited my account. Very good to work with.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Performer

Pros: A great improvement over TV speakers. Was easy to setup with my new TV and works flawlessly. The bass isn't too overbearing but its there when its supposed to be. Speakers and "acoustimass module" are pretty solid in terms of quality and build. Universal remote works well.

Cons: Not as bass heavy as some people may like

Other Thoughts: Is ideal for smaller rooms.

3 out of 5 eggsReally worth $500?

Pros: It plays audio, albeit 2.1 only. Simple setup and a good remote.

Cons: No digital inputs, therefore no simulated surround.

Other Thoughts: I have owned the original Bose Freestyle system which this current revision is based off of. The original system had Optical, Digital Audio, and Analog L&R inputs. That was good, because it then could simulate the surround from the 5.1 DVD audio for example, and produce a very good sound field. These used to go for around $300 in the day (2001 approx).

Now, they have repackaged the system, removed any digital ports, and gave it a non-credit card sized remote PLUS a $500 sticker price! Don't fall for the Bose hype. Its a simple setup, yes however, you are paying SO much more for non digital anything!

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome sound quality SIMPLE setup

Pros: This is most definitely the best thing you could ever buy for your tv if you have a relatively small tv space, the sound is so realistic and true...very loud and enjoyable for action movies, normal tv, gaming etc. Every advertising pitch they say about creating a surround sound effect is completely exaggerations. A more expensive 5 speaker tuner system might sound better but the easy set up and mobility factor makes this thing by far the best solution for someone who wants a surround sound system with the ease of a two speaker setup! (that is why I got it and I love it for that!)

Cons: A little pricey, but you do get what you pay for.

Other Thoughts: The setup is a snap, getting it out of the box is what takes the most time. one connection to each of the speakers and red/white cables to tv sound out, turn your built in tv speakers off(if you have them) off and crank up the bose. The universal remote is very easy to program as well. User friendly and intuitively designed...I highly recommend using the universal remote.

5 out of 5 eggsA little pricey

Pros: The sound quality is very good. The lows are not over pronounced, but clear and smooth. These speakers depend on the quality on the recording and will add little coloring to the sound. Those wanting a powerful system should look elsewhere. The room size will have an effect on overall sound. My area is about 14'x 22'.

Cons: None. I got what I expected.

Other Thoughts: I was unable to setup the remote to control my tv, dvd player. To make a long story short, the buttons for them would not work right. Called customer support and they are sending out a new remote, no hassle, two day shipping. A company wanting a good reputation will do this, go Bose!

4 out of 5 eggsExactly what I wanted

Pros: Exactly what I was looking for in a home theatre system: easy set up, great sound, no muss/no fuss. Bose delivered in all respects. Didn't know it existed until I haphazardly came across it. Easy installation. Few wires.

Cons: No on/off controls or manual ability to adjust volume. I've never had a remote control die on me, but this system can only be turned on/off or have volume control with the remote. If the remote dies, you might as well not have the system.

Other Thoughts: I have no need to adjust the sound (base, treble, mid, etc) levels. So not having it as an option is not at all an issue. It may be for some. The cost was very reasonable to me. For twice the cost, Bose has a system which includes an upconverting DVD player. I bought mine for a fraction of that up cost. So I was ecstatic the Cinemate option was available. I didn't give it 5 eggs because that would insinuate it is perfect. And perfect it is not as I do have a Con listed. One other consideration is that it is a 2.1 system and shouldn't be compared with a 5.1 system. In addition, you could probably spend less for a different 2.1 home theatre and get more "bang for the buck" as far as sound goes, but the quality of the product makes the Bose a superior option in my mind. Overall, I have not regretted the purchase one bit. Enjoy it!

5 out of 5 eggsIncredible sound!

Pros: Amazing sound quality! Easy setup! The remote was impressive as far as compatibility and functionality. It's probably the best remote I've seen as far as controlling 3rd party devices. Usually the more you push a sound system, the more distorted it gets. With these however, the louder they get, the more crystal clear the sound is!

Cons: Ummm... I would have said the cost... But that was before I actually put them to the test! Even though they are pricey for a component 2.1 system, the bang for the buck ratio is pretty well worth it.

Other Thoughts: I'm not really a classical or jazz fan, but the included disc is amazing! Not that it is strictly jazz or classical, but those seem to best tracks on the demo disc that best demonstrate the incredible sound. Especially the vocals and horns. The bass can be surprising in action movies as well.

5 out of 5 eggsBose system

Pros: This system is sweet. It's a no brainer to hook up and use. It sounds great in my 40'x50' sq/ft room with no issues. For the price, I'm completely happy!!

Cons: It's not the top of the line, but for the price, it's great!

5 out of 5 eggsBose makes wonderful products

Pros: Extremely simple installation. Turned up loud these things are crystal clear. Its not a 5.1 system so dont expect it to sound as awesome as a high priced 5.1 system. but it truely does sound a lot better than your normal tv speakers. i would recommend this to anyone who wants great sound and doesnt want a huge home theater setup with wires running everywhere.

Cons: I wish there was a bass control knob as the subwoofer settings are a little on the weak side, but i knew this before i bought it. no digital inputs, so make sure your tv has audio out connections if you want to use more than 1 source.

Other Thoughts: I have my HDDVR from my cable company and my Sharp Blu-Ray going through my Sharp Aquos 1080p lcd into these speakers. and i love em :)
