After you've selected the perfect HDTV and home theater system, there's still one more thing you need to think about, the speaker system. Gone are the days where you needed large speakers all over your living room to fill it with sound. The Acoustimass 16 Series II home entertainment speaker system fills your living space with beautifully reproduced sound from six small modules and a newly engineered Acoustimass module. The elegant black finish looks gracious in almost any decor.
The Acoustimass module has been designed with three downward firing drivers for a bass response that has a clarity and balance unlike anything you've heard before. The sound channel port design lets sharp, short noises be heard clearly while letting long sounds such as thunder or tornadoes rumble to the point you'll be checking to see if everyone is okay.
While the Acoustimass module is the hub of the system, collecting all of the inputs and sending them to the surround and center speakers put you into the center of the action. The Direct/Reflecting cube speaker arrays fill the room with sound by sending out directly and bouncing it off the walls so there is no sweet spot. The rear center channel speaker completes the audio experience such that when someone walks behind someone on screen you'll hear the tip-tap of their shoes all the way across. The center channel is set up horizontally to both keeps dialog centered on-screen and compliment the look of today's flat panel TVs.
Pros: Great surround sound and effects radiate from all corners of the room.
Cons: As a previous reviewer stated....all speakers have to connect to the sub-module, which makes for long hours of installing and running cables.
Other Thoughts: This system does not sound like your typical movie theater sound. I have a Sony ED (no longer available) speaker system that more accurately reproduces highs and you can pinpoint the speaker location....but the speakers are big and take up space.

Bose is the way to go
Pros: This system is awesome. I bought this almost two years ago from Newegg (rocks as usual) and I have not been disappointed in the least. As long as you have a 6.1 or better receiver you are set. I recently upgraded my dvd to a blueray and it really blew me away. I had been missing a whole level of sound from the surround. The power woofer is super and delivers rich bass that I did not hear with my previous speakers (standard woofer, midrange, tweeter array).

Think before u buy
Pros: Mini speakers - just for show off,
Cons: sound quality is just ok and not worth for the money. It sounds like a cheap home theatre sound. supports 6 speakers only and to be connected to the subwoofer only. Cannot be connected to the receiver else speaker is gone.
Other Thoughts: Please listen to other brands before u make a decision.
