Digital 5.1 decoding provides improved realism from 5.1-encoded DVDs, DBS or HDTV.

Proprietary Videostage® 5 decoding and post-processing circuitry, combined with digital 5.1 decoding and DTS®, helps deliver a high quality, five-channel surround sound experience from practically any source: DVDs, videocassettes, stereo CDs, even older mono TV shows and movies.

Proprietary TrueSpace® digital processing circuitry delivers a spacious, multichannel sound experience with strong center imaging from just two visible speakers and a hideaway Acoustimass module.

Gemstone speaker array design, combined with our TrueSpace® digital processing circuitry, delivers the depth and performance of home theater sound.

Acoustimass module works in concert with the small speakers to deliver a fuller range of theater sound and effects. The innovative Bose design produces low frequencies for all channels with no audible distortion.

Universal remote control uses an infrared beam to let you command your television, video source (e.g., cable box or satellite receiver) and most of your home theater entertainment system devices together with your DVD system.

Digital Dynamic Range® speaker compression circuitry enables you to hear soft sounds (particularly dialogue) even at low volumes—and still appreciate the impact of loud special effects.

5 out of 5 eggsunlike some others, I own it

Pros: best 2.1 on the market. I have this hooked directly to my HDTV and it plays everything, my bluray, ps3, and digital cable with one cord. not real sure why people who dont own this awesome system are commenting, pretty stupid. anyway, if your bass isnt shaking the room, recalibrate with the disk it came with. mine is awesome, so is my sisters and mothers.

Cons: none, perfect.

Other Thoughts: if you havnt bought a product you cant really comment on it can you?

5 out of 5 eggsGreat sound

Pros: I have a fairly large living room and this unit fills the room with sound. I looked at several 5.1 systems but didn't like all the speakers or cables required. I have owned this for over 2 years and am very pleased with it.

Cons: A little pricey.

Other Thoughts: This unit does require setting up. Out of the box the sound and picture are OK but not great. When properly setup the sound will rattle the walls.

3 out of 5 eggsI'll Buy Next Generation Model

Pros: I've been looking at this unit for a while now, but can't bring myself to buying it just yet. Bose talks a lot about being in the forefront with this system, but have not yet included the Blu-ray DVD player. There are several systems out there already including a blu-ray player without having raised the price of their system. I'm disappointed in Bose for not truly being one of the leaders.

Cons: No Blu-ray dvd player. There's no way I'm buying this without blu-ray as everyone will be carrying it by the end of the year.

Other Thoughts: I'm going to wait for the blu-ray player to be included before I buy. However, if I see the price of the 321 increases even one dollar, I'm buying the LG home theater system, which is significantly less than this Bose system and has GREAT reviews as well.

4 out of 5 eggsGood and Bad

Pros: Ultra Simple to Hook up. Free yourself from the clutter of a million wires. Simplistic Control. High WAF [Wife Acceptance Factor]. Integration of DVD into main unit is nice. Voice dialog for movies is clear.

Cons: Weak that at this price point it is not Blue Ray. Very dissapointing that there is no pass through HDMI connection, thus if you want to hook up your satellite/cable box you utlimately will still have 2 HDMIs going to your TV. Dissapointing that they don't include the wall brackets for the speakers (UB-20s). Bass is lackluster at best. I had an old Logitech Zx400 8" sub that puts out twice the bass as this thing.

Other Thoughts: The 2 Main points that I would like to make is that its a bummer that this is not Blue Ray. Secondly it is truly dissapointing that there is no pass through for HDMI. That is just totally weak at this price point. It is what it is, a fully integrated mini reciever/dvd system. For simplicity it's probably about the best you can do for a fully integrated system where you want to get rid of surround wires and clutter of electronics stacked to the ceiling. I give this thing 5 eggs for the concept, 3 eggs for it's shortcomings, for an average of 4 eggs.
