1 out of 5 eggsA Complete Waste of Money...

Pros: If you're into playing cruel and unusual jokes on yourself, then this system is perfect for you.

Cons: Ok, seriously...the reason why Bose isn’t taken seriously in the audio world is not because of jealousy, but because the vast majority of their products are severely over-rated pieces of plastic, which for $4000, you should be expecting a lot more when you open up the box. All of the important electronic components are crammed into a couple of light-weight modules using very specific components that can only be used with certain Bose components. Why is this bad? It doesn’t allow for flexibility. You can’t upgrade to a better speaker wire or power cable (2 things which can drastically improve the sound quality of a high-end system), and you are limited to where you want to place your components: speakers and subwoofer. The amplifier doesn’t allow for a dynamic soundstage, and the overall sound becomes homogenized, so everything starts to sound the same and have the same color. The speakers themselves have no consistency in the range as there are obvious holes in the sound.

Other Thoughts: I’m not going to waste my time anymore to try to tell you why this isn’t a good system, because all Bose products are a waste of money. What I will say is that if you do decide to purchase this system is that you will have fallen victim to very effective advertising. I can guarantee you that it cost Bose less than $40 to make the whole thing but doesn’t mind spending even more to try to sell it to you. For $4000 you can buy a very good system of separates that will last you a lifetime, which I can't say for anything by Bose.

1 out of 5 eggsThe Worst $4,000 You Could Ever Spend On Anything

Pros: - Functional
- Not the worst speakers you could buy
- Small Satellites = Easy Placement

Cons: - Obvious flaws in the balance of the sound. The highs aren't that crisp and the lows aren't that low.
- The ugliest speakers I've ever seen in my life. Could they look any cheap and dinkier?
- Sound is unspectacular compared to some $300-$500 speakers.
- Due to good advertising and deals with major corporations, generates positive, yet fake "word of mouth" discussion about Bose.
- Doesn't even use speaker wire (cheap active set)

Other Thoughts: I don't know why anyone would choose Bose over competing brands of speakers. Are these people lazy? Rich and uncaring? For your money, you get less. It's obvious from what you can see.
