4 out of 5 eggsMight be best in its price

Pros: Delivers BD PQ at great price, has 5.1 analog outs which I preferred but coax as well ( when A-B'd the analogs had much punchier sub, surprising array of settings for video and especially audio. They even vented the case for cooling. Dimmable front panel lighting. SD DVD upscaling was as good as my Sammy 1080 which I was happy with. SD DVD's load faster than BD's naturally and the times are not bad from what I read about other brands.

Cons: Only has resume lay on certain discs, the FF and REW search are not super smooth but will do. Hey Phillips! the way we use our playbackunits- is with the play button between the FF and REW search buttons-NOT Next and PREV chapter buttons. Remote not lighted but I'm learning by touch. Remote is loooong. Remote is the weakest feature but it because of layout and missing backlighting otherwise it is full featured, including tray open/close. (Yes, some remotes lack this useful feature)

Other Thoughts: If your receiver lacks ability to tweak 5.1 this unit will let you. Very satisfactory for first BDP. Dark Knight was beautiful in PQ and AQ (5.1 trumped coax) When the robbers baned open the double doors leading to the vault I got my first (but not last) taste of BD sound through the couch and into my chest. If all BD's are like this I may never leave my house! Except to get more. Enjoy!

5 out of 5 eggsblu ray

Pros: Great picture firmware upgradeable through cd image. Plays div x, lower cost than the other models.

Cons: None so what its not thin. Says on phillips website that homemade blu ray disks do not play on this model but I havent tried it

Other Thoughts: Box came kind of beat up not protected with 2 boxes could of been shipped better.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Blue Ray Player!

Pros: Great picture quality. Upconverting regular DVDs is quite amazing. My first Blue Ray movie I bought was the Dark Knight. Words could discribe how wonderful the clarity was that this player presented them. The menu functions are intuitive and thoughtout.

Cons: It does have a LARGE footprint no doubt! But its ok, its not hurting anything. The load times do seem slow, but this is the only Blue Ray player I have ever owned, but compared to my Sony DVD player, there is a definite difference.

Other Thoughts: I purchased the Phillips HDMI cable from another place coupled with Toshiba 40" LCD, I could not be more happier!! Lose the load time and the footprint, this would have been a 5 egger without a doubt!

3 out of 5 eggsBIG PLAYER

Pros: Works as expected good quality picture. Easy to use menu's.

Cons: This thing is huge!!!! I can't possibly be necessary for this unit to be this large!!! For this resaon alone I wish I would have purchased the Sony. My fault for not paying closer attention to the dimensions.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid Product

Pros: Picture and Audio are on par with what you expect from Blu-ray, virtually perfect.

Cons: VERY large foot print. Location of Play button in relation to FFW and REW buttons

Other Thoughts: Resume function works perfect for me on Blu-ray discs and DVDs.

3 out of 5 eggsBest for the Price

Pros: Best picture and capability for what you pay, I mean really 200 bucks is nothin for a blu ray player.

Cons: The only con that I can see is that when it shipped, it shipped in IT'S box, newegg did not put it inside of a bigger box to protect it from the bumps and bruises of shipping!!! So when I got it the box was half beat to heck and ripped up a bit. Its a christmas gift so I'm reluctant to open it to make sure its okay, but if something is wrong I will be RMA'ing it.

Other Thoughts: Please ship these sensitive items in a bigger box with packing peanuts so it doesn't look like UPS was playing soccer with the box.

5 out of 5 eggsbest bang for the buck

Pros: plays almost everything you throw at it(including divx), reasonably priced compared to other blu ray players. stunning visuals and audio quality.

Cons: no region unlock code(for dvds) yet and doesn't support bd live as there is no ethernet port.

Other Thoughts: love this player, only drawback for me is not being able to unlock all regions for standard dvds.
this player is bd 1.1 compliant but not bd 2.0.
overall it's the best blu ray player on the market for under $200.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellant Player

Pros: This machine outputs stunning sound and video and has many optional adjustable functions through various menus accessed via the remote.

Cons: It has a large footprint. Another famous brand player is about half the size, but unless you are really cramped for space, then in this situation size doesn't matter. Bootup is somewhat slow but no slower than my HD player. What's the hurry, anyway? From power-on to playback takes about 70 seconds.

Other Thoughts: Contrary to another reviewer's comments, the player DOES resume playback after stop. However, there are two variations on this model identified by /37 and /F7. I have the F7, which may account for the difference in performance.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't Buy!!

Pros: Audio and blu ray picture are excellent.

Cons: Slow load time, large and bulky unit. But those are not the main reason I am extremely disappointed with this blu ray player. The very first thing I checked, and hoped for, was the memory. I have a ps3 player, so I can play blu ray movies on that, but there is no memory in it, so you have to start over every time you shut off the player. Unfortunately this blu ray player is the same way!! Even worse, when you press stop, it takes you back to the beginning of the movie. Wow, what a major letdown. I don't have time nor patience to sit through an entire movie, so this feature is really important to me. Why don't blu ray players function like a regular DVD player?

Other Thoughts: If you want a DVD player that starts over every time you shut it off or stop a movie, then I guess this is the player for you. It does have great sound and picture though.
