Cons: I did order the DVP5990/37 but I received the DVP5990/F7 a cheaper model, check carefully when you receive the package.
Other Thoughts: newegg chat support was quite responsive and helpful, but I don't have the product I have ordered.

Pros: Looked good on the reviews ....
Cons: the first one was DOA with damage to the box... and new egg did a spectacular job replacing it the second came with some damage to the box as well... and is a bit flakey ... reads most homeade DIVx discs i put in but on some it crashes. The only way to recover from a crash is to physically un-plug the unit ....
Other Thoughts: THis is the second Phillips dvd player in my house and they are great products .... i thin the programming for this player is bad.

Ups and Downs with this model

Pros: Play 99% of video formats I throw at them. FAT32 formatted drives of any capacity/size can be connected to the USB port...in fact all sorts of things can (USB->CF converters, external HDs, etc.).
Cons: Two units bought, both defective. One won't do HDMI (goes in to reset mode after a few minutes), the other has a malfunctioning drive. Fooey. Philips no help at all in resolving or getting units replaced.
Other Thoughts: Buy with caution. If the one you get works and works well, bravo. Otherwise, get ready for an unpleasant experience.
