  • newegg Built-in stereo speakers The stereo speakers provide quality sound and allow you to listen freely. Enjoy music anytime, anywhere, with built-in stereo speakers that allow the convenience and enjoyment of music playback simply by unplugging the headphone.
  • newegg Multiple disc format support This Philips Portable DVD player is compatible with most DVD and CD discs available on the market. DVD, DVD+/-R, DVD+/-RW, (S) VCD, and CD – all of them can play on this DVD player. DVD+/-R is a shorthand term for a DVD drive that can accept both of the common recordable DVD formats. Likewise, DVD+/-RW handles both common rewritable disc types.
  • newegg MP3-CD, CD, and CD-RW playback MP3 is a revolutionary compression technology by which large digital music files can be made up to 10 times smaller without radically degrading their audio quality. A singe CD can store up to 10 hours of music.
  • newegg Easy setup Setting up a portable player has never been easier. This unit comes with convenient in-car accessories to enhance your movie enjoyment on the road. A car adapter allows you to power your portable DVD player using the cigarette charger, while a mounting strap allows you to attach the player to your car headrest for passenger viewing. Plus, a single cable connection design allows you to easily connect two Philips Portable DVD players together – no additional cables are required!
  • newegg Full Resume on Power Loss The DVD-Video player remembers where you stop watching last time when it is powered off directly or when the power supply discontinued. If you did not switch to play another disc, your player will resume play where you have stopped the movie last time just by reloading the disc. Making your life a lot easier!

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: awesome picture
good controls
attaches to seat back very securely
latch and dvd mechanism seem solid
9" screen is a lot nicer than our previous 7"

Cons: second screen has funky colors and green outlines around characters
connector cable could be longer, but one can be found at Radio Shack

Other Thoughts: We Christmas shopped early so by the time we discovered there was an issue it was more than 30 days and Newegg told us to pound sand.

Fortunately, Phillips customer service was excellent and a new unit is on the way to me, with a prepaid shipping label for the return.

4 out of 5 eggsAs Expected / Suits Our Needs

Pros: Plays DVD-R (DVD backups) fine
Provided strap works well enough to hook to our seats (V70, RX400h, MB R350)

Cons: Controls and wire jacks are in different places on each of the units, making it impossible to remember where what is for hooking up and changing volume. They should have placed these in the same place on both units.

The auto power wire feels cheaply made

Other Thoughts: Bought these for trips, does well.

It came poorly packed in a generic box with little documentation.

The set looks new enough, no scratches or damage, but I could detect that the screens and bezel had been cleaned.

1 out of 5 eggsLooked good when I received it

Pros: Looked good when I opened the package.

Cons: Everything about this refurbished item. The item didn't play any DVD that we put in it. It was like the item wasn't even tested before calling it a refurnished item. I was so upset I packed it up and found a place to ship it the same night. I paid the extra money to have it shipped early for my family to have for our 9 hour car trip but there went that idea. If your not in a hurry you might want to take a chance to see if you get a unit that works properly.

Other Thoughts: the 9" is worth the extra money in my opinion the 7" was to small for us.

2 out of 5 eggsDVDs skip on playback

Pros: Good price for a 9" dual screen DVD player. Auto resume is nice so that kids in the back can resume movies where they left off.

Cons: Player skipped and video broke up intermittently on playback. Tried several mint-condition DVDs that work fine on other players. Suspect that this is a defect that was caught due to insufficient testing during recertification.

Other Thoughts: Newegg customer service was great and provided a return shipping label and waived the restocking fee due to the defect. The defective DVD player gets 1 star, but Newegg gets 5 stars.

1 out of 5 eggsHmm

Pros: Nice sized display, easy to hook up.

Cons: Wire used to connect the two screens is too short to conceal, second screen didn't work.

Other Thoughts: Should have taken the advise of others. I spent 30 minutes concealing the wires behind my seat backs, plugged it in and the first unit worked fine however the second screen displayed nothing but lines. It's on it's way back to Newegg for a replacement and hopefully it'll be here before our 10 hour trip to FL
