With its advanced materials, PolyPlas cones for the pair of low-frequency woofers and the single midrange driver, and a CMMD Lite dome for the high-frequency tweeter, the JBL Studio 190 lets you experience deep, resounding low frequencies, a fully detailed midrange and complex high-frequency sound, whether you play it at low and subtle or high, maximum-SPL playback levels. Enjoy the exceptional clarity and realism with outstanding bass response offered by Studio 190 systems!

  • newegg 25 – 400 watts suggested amplifier power range The Studio 190 delivers enhanced, room-filling sound from a compatible AVR (audio/video receiver) or 25- to 400-watt power amplifier, whether you are using the Studio 190 as a stand-alone unit or as part of a surround-sound system.
  • newegg A pair of ribbed PolyPlas low-frequency cones The Studio 190 delivers powerful, resounding bass, thanks to the pair of PolyPlas 6-1/2-inch (165-millimeter) woofers. The ribbed construction improves strength while reducing distortion, filling a room with deep, resonant bass. This lightweight alloy allows for precise movement, ensuring that bass instruments always sound powerful but never “boomy.”
  • newegg Midrange driver housed in sub-enclosure To prevent sound interference from the upper and lower frequencies, the Studio 190’s 4-inch (100-millimeter) PolyPlas midrange driver features a separate sub-enclosure. And that’s not all – a lightweight alloy such as the PolyPlas material allows for precise cone movement to maximize sound clarity, especially on voices.
  • newegg Unique CMMD Lite 1" (25mm) tweeter The CMMD high-frequency tweeter starts as an aluminum dome that is sandwiched on either side with ceramic. The result is strong enough to hold its shape when moving rapidly yet light enough to eliminate unwanted resonances. What your ears notice, however, is subtle, clear detail and lasting, unsullied sound performance.
  • newegg Exclusive Bi-Radial waveguide The Studio 190’s Bi-Radial waveguide disperses high frequencies widely without loss of quality or accuracy, making sure that listening to the JBL Studio 190 loudspeakers is a great experience anyplace where you happen to be listening in the room.
  • newegg Magnetically shielded for video proximity Loudspeakers use magnets. Your TV hates magnets. But that doesn’t mean that you have to listen to movies on your television set’s often inadequate loudspeaker. Nor do you have to compromise your HDTV’s high-definition capabilities. The Studio 190 is optimized for inspired performance and magnetically shielded to prevent any interference with video sources.

5 out of 5 eggsJust what I wanted

Pros: They live up to the name. JBL!
Nothing but HiFi. I have my system as follows:
RX-V673 Yamaha 7.2 AVR
JBL Studio 1 Series Studio 120c Center
JBL Studio 1 Series Studio 190 x2 Front L/R
Cerwin Vegas(6" woofer& 1" tweeter) x2 SL/SR
JBL Studio 1 Series Studio 130 x2 RL/RR

The CV's were inherited into the assembly, but are great sounding bookshelf speakers and I can't say I regret placing them as surrounds.

After a bit of YPAO calibrating and some of my own, I got it sounding just right. YPAO did a splendid job of getting it in the ballpark -- probably even better than that.

As for these 190's, they are everything I wanted them to be. I originally had everything at first but them in a 5-channel set-up, but I really felt that the front sound stage was lacking in fullness. These bad boys really widen it and have a great dynamic range. The clarity is superb. From music to movies, everything is so crisp and immersive.

Cons: Ordered 2 190's and one of them had a bit of a scuff. This has been noted by many others all over the web. I think it is mostly due to the design and the weight of the speakers working against it when combined with shipping and its unpredictability. To sum that bit, stuff happens. I'm fine with the scuff as it is not noticeable when you're on the couch and it's where it needs to be. ;)

Other Thoughts: I did not try bi-amping the 190's but I haven't felt the need to. Also, I don't think it's worth dumbing down to a 5 channel from a 7 so easily. I would try bi-amping in my free time, and if it advantageous, as I've heard it helps power these beasts, I will consider going a step or two higher on my next avr. I would have to get a 9 or 11 channel avr and use 4 on the front 2 surrounds in active bi-amping. But like I said, I am extremely happy with what I have now, so there's that. :)

5 out of 5 eggsamazing

Pros: phenominal quality crisp highs that arent overpowering. have used them for both theatrical and musical listening, perform phenominally well in both mediums. mids are clear and distortion free.

Cons: the 6.5 produces rather low frequencies but certainly want to add a sub to fill in the gap.

5 out of 5 eggsReal happy with them

Pros: Great sound. Nice ans slim. Excellent price. Truly enjoying the audio experience these speakers provide. Can't wait to get a more powerful amp to really drive these speakers

Cons: Originally ordered 2 (1 pair) and 1 came with a marred cabinet and speaker cover. Wasn't horrible, but becuase they were brand new, we decided to RMA them. We recieved another speaker to replace it, and there was similair damage on the third one, but not as bad, so we decided to keep it.

Other Thoughts: Not sure why the left cabinet of 2 of these speakers were marred in almost the same place, but it must be something to do with the factory boxing process or something, becuase both boxes came from UPS with no evident damage on the outside.

5 out of 5 eggssolid value

Pros: - good soundstage
- good bass extension
- good built quality
- appearance growing on me

Cons: - not crazy for their appearance but knew that going in

Other Thoughts: Met and exceeded expectations. For the price, these are great. Heavy, solid, with good built quality. Good all-around performance for both HT and music. Prefer no subwoofer when listening to music. Long break-in period (still doing that)

4 out of 5 eggsGreat speaker, needs more bass

Pros: I like that they are slim. The wave guide for the highs definitly help with imaging even when your not sitting directly in the sweetspot. Audio is crisp and clear. Well worth the money I spient on them

Cons: Even with the 2 low freq. drivers, the bass leaves a lot to be desired. For a smaller room it might be ok, but found it to be lacking on the low end for the movies and music. What bass that is there is very tight and not muddy at all. I wouldn't use these without having a sub to cover your fequencies below 100hz.

Other Thoughts: I like the cabinets, and the speaker is heavy (60lbs) and seems well built. I ordered 2 and they were both delivered in clean undamaged boxes. However, one of the speakers boxes contained strange looking pin like screws (point on one end and threade don the other) that were about 4/5 inches long. Becuase these were in the box we looked over the speaker a little closer for damange. Although it seemed unrelated to the pins in the box, there was damage on the speaker where the speaker cover met the edge of the cabinet. The vineer was damage and so was part of the speaker cover. Newegg provided free shipping back when we RMA'ed the speaker. Thanks newegg!!

5 out of 5 eggsUnbelievable Quality for Price!!

Pros: I purchased a pair of these speakers a little over four months ago - At the time, I had been looking for a good pair of Towers with great overall sound quality & offered quality components that would last for several years. My funds were somewhat limited so top of the line towers were out, but I did want to make an investment that I would keep me happy for several years to come.

I've always known JBL to have a good reputation when it comes to speakers, but I have to admit, JBL wasn't on my list of prospects for this purchase. But after researching brands, models and prices I came across Newegg's listing for JBL's Studio 190's at an unbelievable price. Given that I also had a Newegg Coupon, the price was well within budget but was it too good to be true?

So I did my research, reviewed the specs and read all the customer reviews I could. At that point I was even more hesitant given such a low price point.

Remembering how awesome Newegg is in regards to Returns, I decided to go for it. Hey, if the sound turned out weak, muddled or poor I could always return them.

When they arrived, the size & weight of each speaker caught me a bit off-guard. Not only are they tall, but dang, these speakers are heavy! Heavier than any other tower I've owned before.

I connected the JBL's as Front Speakers with my Onkyo TX-NR717 Receiver and then engaged the receiver’s Audyssey Room Correction feature for a quick settings adjustment so that all of my speakers would sound well together. Once everything was connected, I sat back, smiled and just listened to the impressive, overall sound being delivered by the Towers. When I said “Overall Sound”, I'm referring to the fact that these towers deliver both strong and accurate tones that are deep on the low end, pleasant in mid-range and noticeably crisp and clear on the high end.

Honestly I find that Speakers are hard to review as it's really a personal preference. So if you are looking for printed specs to tell you what these speakers sound like, you can find them here on newegg’s website or you can look on JBL’s site. But if you are looking for feedback from an owner, I can tell you that these speakers produce a full sound that is both accurate and strong. While the sound is strong, I don’t find it to be overwhelming rather, I find that the 190’s produce a sound that fills the room as opposed to many of the speakers I’ve owned that sounded okay, but seemed to always sound as if the music was coming from a single place in the room.

Also, I was quite happy to find that the 190's produced deep, tight bass. Metallica’s early albums sound way different to me now than they did 20 years ago in college when played thru Pioneer speakers with giant woofers.

All in all, the JBL 190 Towers happened to be exactly what I was looking for. I'm extremely happy, though I'm still amazed I was able to get them at a price much lower than expected

Cons: Other than not being wireless, I guess you could complain that they do take up some space and that they are a little heavy. However, once they were installed and the speaker wire was buried under the carpet, not one negative has crossed my mind.

Other Thoughts: I did a lot of research before purchasing these speakers as I was looking for a pair to keep my happy for years to come. However, I'll admit that it was the price that Newegg had listed that caught my attention.

Given that Newegg treats their customers fairly and offers a top notch Returns program, I decided to give these speakers a try.

I've owned these speakers for over four months now and I couldn't be happier with the performance. I do believe I'll be happy with these towers for years to come!

5 out of 5 eggs330.00 for the pair!

Pros: Was looking for replacement speakers for some Bose as well and just happened across this sale... Marked down from 450 to 220 and then another 25% with a promo code dropped it to 165.00 and 1.99 shipping each to boot on a 50 pound speaker. I just ordered 5 minutes ago and I'm satisfied with the deal alone considering what else I was looking at for the same amount of money. You're not going to get more speaker than this for 165.00 each no matter how hard you look

Cons: I have to wait for them to be delivered.

5 out of 5 eggsSuperb

Pros: I've had these speakers since 6/15/12. I was replacing my old system one piece at a time and these were the second thing I purchased right after the Yamaha RX-A1000 receiver. I ran these in stereo mode for over three months before finishing out my system. I almost didn't buy another speaker to finish out my home theater system because it sounded that good. In fact when listening to just music in direct mode (which only plays the front two speakers) it sounds better than 5.1 mode with the sub. You can't miss with these JBL's no matter what configuration you decide.

Cons: Natta

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Awesome. I have two of these for front and they sound great. Highs are crisp and clear and lows are very deep. Almost don't even need a subwoofer for this one.

Cons: Lifting them.
