Designed and optimized by JBL engineers, the Studio SUB150P powered subwoofer creates that sense of losing yourself within sound playback to create the foundation for an immersive, realistic experience. With powerful, enveloping bass, you feel transplanted into another place, whether it’s the high-energy action of a movie or the middle of a rocking concert hall.

  • newegg 300-watt RMS (500 watts peak) amplifier JBL Studio 1 Series Home Audio Speaker features an integral 300-watt RMS (500 watts peak power) amplifier, making the Studio SUB150P subwoofer develop high-energy sound levels without adding unwanted artifacts. A built-in limiter prevents the distortion that results from sudden peak levels and thereby turns a sound experience from the merely impressive into the completely immersive.
  • newegg 10" (250mm), low-frequency transducer The Studio SUB150P features a 10-inch (250-millimeter) low-frequency transducer that delivers chest-thumping audio – but it’s accurate enough to articulate individual sounds at sustained low frequencies. Such immersive bass creates a foundation that is powerful enough to support an entire surround-sound experience.
  • newegg Digital amplifier circuitry Energy efficiency is a priority; so too is low heat output. The Studio SUB150P’s built-in digital amplifier fulfills both functions but doesn’t skimp on your primary requirement: powerful, low-frequency sound.
  • newegg Bass-reflex enclosure Unlike other subwoofers, the Studio SUB150P is not housed within a sealed enclosure. Instead, the SUB150P features a bass-reflex enclosure, which provides movie soundtracks and music with the breathing room they need to sound realistic with little or no distortion.
  • newegg Down-firing transducer The Studio SUB150P’s driver fires downwards instead of outwards, a configuration that prevents unwanted interaction with walls and the sound reflections that result from the interaction. Instead, sound travels upwards through the room, resulting in clean, crisp bass. As a result, you can place the SUB150P anywhere in a room without worrying that it’ll produce the artificial “boominess” that can detract from the realism of a surround-sound experience.
  • newegg Comprehensive phase and crossover controls A two-position phase switch ensures that the Studio SUB150P’s bass transducer moves in sync with your main loudspeakers. The subwoofer’s low frequencies will blend seamlessly with sounds from other speakers, regardless of where you put the subwoofer. Also, an adjustable crossover frequency lets you optimize the Studio SUB150P for different choices of main/satellite loudspeakers.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Subwoofer

Pros: I am very impressed with the sound quality of this subwoofer. I've been a JBL speaker owner since 1980 and have never been disappointed with their products. This speak delivers clean bass and at higher volumes fills my 22X24 foot living room.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I used this subwoofer to replace a passive JBL subwoofer I had used for over 20 years. The Sub150P was a definite upgrade.

5 out of 5 eggsWhat a Woofer!! Deep Solid Bass!

Pros: Running this woofer with an old Sony STR-DE685. I can really feel the floor vibrate on certain movie scenes. No distortions whatsoever. Worth every penny. I will invest in another one once I get the 7.2 surround sound. also love the auto standby feature.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsI Like It

Pros: I wanted an affordable subwoofer that still sounded great and that's exactly what I got. I have always loved JBL speakers and this subwoofer is no exception.

I like the auto standby mode it goes in when I'm not listening to anything. The sound compliments the movies or music I listen to without over powering it.

I love this thing!

Pros: This thing sounds great!! Replaced an old Cambridge Sounds Works cube and what an improvement!!! I like the design. Not a boring cube.

Cons: It's BIG! No problem though, I just stuck it in a corner.

5 out of 5 eggsMore then enough

Pros: Got this Sub and integrated it into my smaller HT room.
It repalced two Polk Audio PSW 10. It is powered by a Pioneer Elite SC-37.
This Sub performed better then the 2 polk subs it repalced, hitting lower and more accurately and producing a fast, dynamic, reponsive bass, that filled the room very nicely.
It compliments a set of Polk audio Rtia7's for fronts, a Polk audio CSi a4 for center, and 2 polks Rtia1's for surrounds. The room is rather small 14 # 12, and wood floor.
It surpassed my expectations and performed really well while watching blue ray movies through the oppo bdp 103.
I compared it to my Yamaha 315 sub and it hled it's own, performed as good as the Yammi 10 " Sub.

Cons: None, I like the shape in fact, I can't put anything on it.

Other Thoughts: It is heavy, and that is a plus, it hits hard, accurately and dips low.
If you see it on sale get one, it is a no brainer.

4 out of 5 eggsPowerful sound for a 10" sub.

Pros: Down firing design. Good price for the performance it gives. Unique design, which looks like a little pyramid. Good amount of power for a 10" sub.

Cons: Will distort if pushed hard, which having a limiter is supposed to prevent this. No speaker level inputs. Port is on the bottom, which I would prefer it being on a side.

Other Thoughts: Picked this up when it was on sale and so far am pleased with it. I prefer down firing subs and this SUB150P is nearly as good as my Bic V120, which is a 12" sub. Hits hard and can handle a decent load, but if pushed enough will distort. I would put this just in the same performance range as the Bic V1220 and F12, but costs a little less.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Buy

Pros: $150.00
300 watt RMS (not peak or dynamic)
Solid, Heavy cabinet
Hits like a sledgehammer.

Without spending a whole lot more you cant find a better sub than this. Any manufacturer using 50w, 100w, even 150w to power a 10in driver or bigger is seriously underpowered. This is a steal at $149.99

Cons: Not sure if its a con, but the design is slightly unusual. Kind of pyramid shaped. It sits in the corner so it is out of sight. I suppose it might be a plus because its not an ugly cube.

Other Thoughts: Considered 2 subwoofers from NewEgg. The highly rated Klipsch Reference RW-12d and this JBL. For the current price versus the Klipsch, I probably could have bought 2 but playing around with 1 is enough to convince me it isnt necessary to have 2.
Onkyo TX NR515 has enough tweeks to tame this beast. Little by little I've been tuning it to suit music and movies. Hard to strike a good balance between the two with a ported subwoofer.

Glad I bought it. UPS man needed help carrying it to my door. : )
