4 out of 5 eggsNot so bad...

Pros: I own the earlier product the LVW-5005. After over a year of use I've pretty much wrung it out. All-Write is just that (except DVD-RAM). Put DVDs or CDs in it, and Video results. GREAT FEATURE, plug your turntable into it, and copy vinyl -> CD without a PC (edit later on a PC if you want).

Cons: Quality. I'm on my 3rd Lite-on over all. Always liked the features, but long term reliability is iffy.

Other Thoughts: If you like the feature set, the price is good. Be prepared for sudden death though. Returns to Lite-on under warantee are about average in my opinion.

2 out of 5 eggsLite-On Hasn't Figured It Out Yet

Pros: Functionality is nice. Especially the ability to burn basically any format including CD's, VCD, etc...

Cons: I own two Lite-On DVD recorders. This one quit accepting cable signals about 2 weeks after the warranty expired, so I can no longer record from cable TV. The other was a LVW-5045 with the HDD. It died at about 9 months...the RMA took 3 months. Had to finally call and they had lost my original device and mailed out another refurbed unit.

Other Thoughts: Never had a problem with a Lite-On DVD Player or Burner for PC, but their Home Entertainment units leave a lot to be desired in the defect department.

5 out of 5 eggsSweet

Pros: Does not pick up color gaurd from tv shows .So it will record pictures from my satelite for storage withouth distorting it.

Cons: No RF output for dvd playing. I thought it was Doa from newegg .After reviewing the information and reading a little I noticed that DVD playback only works through componet cables.

Other Thoughts: Awsome machine for cheap red necks like me to back up home movies and shows.

4 out of 5 eggsawesome

Pros: Price, plays all format cept dvdram, easy to use.
For this price who can argue. recording tv is great and easy. Great navigation in options. great for regular home use.

Cons: Design. It is poorly designed, hence the price. Hard to read deisplay 1980s VCR anyone? Drive comes out so far that cant close back in automaicaly bc of the not uniform gravity :). Had to use manual (hands) to close the drive. menu shows only through video 1-10 channels but records on any depending on which tuner you set in the options, cmon guys we wanna have a tv/video button.

Other Thoughts: got it for my mom to record her soap opras:),no more tapes!. This is the most basic dvd recorder out there. Wanna record tv, transfer tapes?, record of dv camera? its all here and any format too. Design took off 1 egg but w/e cant beat the price. Compared to my sisters samsung dvdrw/tape recorder its notihng... but the price is x3 less. Very nice buy!

Pros: this is a nice and easy to use recorder.Good for transfering the old videos to dvds. very cheap! amazing!! can use any type of dvdr

Cons: the design looks like the old betamax player, like twenty years ago.

Other Thoughts: don't use low quality dvd's.
just use high quality dvd's for your own satisfaction.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Produce

Pros: Bought it to replace the old VHS tape technology and also to copy VHS tapes to DVD. It has what I consider to be one of the easiest user interfaces I've seen. I have found that the 4 Hour and 6 Hour modes are quite adequate for TV viewing and are much better that what would have been their equivalent on tape. I highly recommend this product.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: It would be nice to be able to choose a title scene for each recording rather than having to use whatever is on screen when you start your recording.

4 out of 5 eggsWorked great

Pros: User freindly interface which makes it easy to use even it its your first dive into DVD recording. User manual is fairly well written compared to many. Recording quality is good on SP (2 hrs).

Cons: Not going to win any design awards, this thing is pretty unstylish and boring looking. Also its a bit loud, you can certainly tell the difference when it is turned on versus turned off. This thing is media sensitive, although I had no issues using Ridata CD+R media it seems that this unit is picky on types of media. You should be careful to read the recommended media list on Liteon's website. Recording quality take a big nose dive when you move to extended play (4 hr. or 6 hr) recording. Video quality is good only when recording on SP (2 hr) setting. This was not a big issue for me as I had no VHS or home movie tapes that were in excess of 2 hours.

Other Thoughts: I bought this recorder primarilly to copy VHS tapes and home movies to DVD. It worked great when VCR was hooked up via rear composite AV input jacks. Also worked great, when I recorded from an older camcorder which uses 8mm tapes using the front AV composite input jacks. Finally it worked flawlessly when I recorded home movies using my current (newer) camcorder which uses mini DV tapes, using IEEE 1394 firewire (DV)connection .
