4 out of 5 eggsGreat buy for the price

Pros: Great Price for an entry level home theater. this is my first home theater, so I cannot compare to other products, but it sounds clear. Sound modes are a plus with the absence of an equalizer. Over all this is a decent choice for people looking for an HTIB without spending a lot of money, like when buying your first LCD TV, TV stand and HTIB the same day :)

Cons: sub woofer is kind of weak; too few inputs on the receiver; if you want power or a true receiver I would recommend buying something else. The receivers menu is only available in DVD mode and when the disc is stopped.

Other Thoughts: I do not know what he first reviewer was doing wrong, but this DOES play movie backups, on both DVD-R/RW and DVD+R/RW. I do wish this played more video formats and codecs, but for the price I am fine with hooking up my PC to do that. I did NOT buy this from newegg, but as a long time newegg customer, I wanted to give my experience to other customers. I have this paired with a SAMSUNG 40" LNT4061F; the Anynet is a pretty sweet feature.

4 out of 5 eggsAll in One Does Wonders

Pros: * Overall A Great system that truely does wonders.
* First and foremost, squash the extra remotes, this is a reciever and dvd player all in one, no worry about the extra remotes!
* Has a digital output from your tv, so lets you plugs all your inputs devices to your TV then sends those signals to the reciever via the digital input.
* HDMI and and up converts your DVDs for the best picture possible.
* Has seperate speaker wires so lets you connect better speakers to the system while ditching the stock speaker set up.
* Seperate aux and i pod inputs to the reciever.
* Separate modes ie, dolby, stereo, etc are easy use.
* Many more easy to use functions.

Cons: * Amp is set up for 3 ohm speakers, most home audio speakers are usually 8 ohm, can be confusing upgrading speakers.

3 out of 5 eggsDOES NOT work with MAC formatted ipods..

Pros: For the price, it's pretty darn good. 5 disc changer, usb support for hard drives, comes with an ipod cord

Cons: DOES NOT SUPPORT MAC FORMATTED IPODS!! The tech support guys tried to tell me it was because 'itunes for mac automatically puts all files into their proprietary .aac format'...um, no it doesn't. All my files are in .mp3 format, and it reads my HFS+(mac) formatted external HD, but NOT the iPod!! how frustrating. besides that, the fan is rather noisy at low volumes, much like signal to noise kinda sounding... THIS NOT for people wanting a really solid sound experience (though it is pretty good.) I wish the sub was powered, and you had the ability to browse songs on dvd/hd whilst playing them.. annoying.

Other Thoughts: I don't have an hdtv, so i can't really speak to the upconversion. This isn't a reciever, the only input it has is optical audio on back, headphone output, and 1/8" input on the front. no video or anything else.

5 out of 5 eggsLove This HTIB!

Pros: I absolutely love this product. I bought it because I wanted a good 5.1 system with a digital input. This system did that and so much more! I alternate between my 360 and PC connected thru the optical in, and the sound is amazing. My friend's value set can't compare in sound quality. plus, as an added bonus, it's a 5 disc upconvert DVD player! That really made this player the only obvious choice. Plus, it looks really stylish with my Samsung TV/monitor! The sub is as loud is you want it to be, enough to get me a few noise violations

Cons: The speakers are just a little heavy. A strange complaint, I know, but this is only really an issue if you want to hang them without damaging the wall (like in my dorm room). But that's also just a problem with the walls in the room, not good for adhesive hooks. In large rooms, you have to place the speakers carefully to get the best experience with this system (good thing i have a small room!) To adjust the sub volume, you have to go into the dvd-stop menu, which can be a pain since I use the DVD function the least. Only upconverts if you have it output thru HDMI.

Other Thoughts: Playing Bioshock on 360 with accurate and clear surrond is really awesome. You'll probably turn the sub down after a while, because it can get just that loud. I will try to connect it to my TV using a HDMI to DVI cable, seeing as it doesn't have an HDMI and I'll see if it upconverts.
