There IS a reason to Buy a Blu Ray Player Now !
- Pros: This is one of the better Blu Ray players out there and if you can find a discounted one...BUY IT ! I also own the PS3 but prefer the Sammy 1200 due to it's better Blu Ray picture and REON chip for upscaling regular dvd's. And yes it CAN be updated via the ethernet connection on the back.If you are not interested in the fluff (narrations, pip) you will not miss the 2.0 versions .The movies will always play with this player, you just wont get all the fluff.(extra boring stuff)
- Cons: This player stumbled due to the lack of firmware updates from Samsung. Some newer movies would not play. But Samsung has addressed the problems with new firmware updates via the ethernet connection and all movies now play !
- Other Thoughts: This player also has 5.1 analog outputs (which the PS3 does not) so you can connect it to a receiver that lacks a HDMI connection.
No reason
- Pros: none
- Cons: none
- Other Thoughts: There is no reason to buy a blu ray player at this time! Blu ray is taking a leap forward soon and you will have to buy a new one all over again. BD 2.0 will be all around better, and you might as well just buy a ps3 if you're going to spend this much money to play blu ray. Not to mention PS3's can upgrade via it's updates, so it's really a better choice due to price than any other blu ray player. Not to mention it has A LOT of other features. I'm not a fan boy, I just know how to save money!
great blu-ray, poor dvd player
- Pros: Plays blu-ray movie great. It also played regular dvd great for a while. my rig is a harmon kardon 7.1 surround, with a sony 46v3000 1080 p tv.
- Cons: Appears that the HQV processor went hey wire, according to samsung reps, past the 3 month labor, so it would cost me to fix it.
- Other Thoughts: The new LGBH200 is the product to go on. Even cnet and CR recommended it.

With its HQV true 1080i to 1080p HD deinterlacing process, the BD-P1200 delivers the sharpest, most detailed HD images possible. There are no jagged edges with the per-pixel motion adaptive algorithm and a sophisticated multi-directional diagonal filter. It doesn't get any better than this for viewing enjoyment. |
