This player doesn't work well
- Pros: Good price
- Cons: This player is not ready for prime time. It ships with firmware that doesn't play several new releases. Firmware upgrades are tedious and failed several times. Disk load times are longer than other models by about a minute. The player froze on me when I tried to track forward. The 24 FPS mode causes hiccups every few minutes. No picture controls.
Won't Play Disks
- Pros: Nice picture
- Cons: I've gone through 2 Die Hard disks and the player just locks up. I've downloaded and installed the new firmware without any luck. (Of course their CD-ROM-RW update doesn't work). Looking at some forums, everyone is having these problems with certain disks. It is hard to believe that Samsung would release a player that doesn't work with all the movies and that an upgrade to the firmware doesn't take care of the problem. DON'T BY THIS PLAYER! Save yourself a lot of pain.

Not the best.
- Pros: Beautiful picture (when it worked). Great looking on the shelf.
- Cons: Problems with it right out of the box. After 2 months, stopped working. After 3 months of arguing with Samsung, trashed it. Buying a PS3.
- Other Thoughts: Wouldn't have been bad, except that it needed more software updates than should have been necessary for an off-the-shelf product.
Good player, no problems
- Pros: The picture is phenomenal! As with ALL Blu-ray players the load times are long. I've played over 30 movies with absolutely no problems. Great player for the price.
- Cons: None yet
Buy another model, not this one!
- Pros: It is a decent player when it decides to play. Slick looking unit. Good picture one certain blu ray movies.
- Cons: Painful loading times! Die Hard 4 for instance took 3 minutes to load, after the 3rd attempt. Updating the firmware made no difference in the load time. Spiderman 3 looks great, but Spiderman 1 and 2 look grainy. I own a Samsung 61" DLP 1080p, so it is not my TV. My HD DVD player does not have this issue with any movie. Too bad HD DVD lost the battle.
Very dissapointing prodcut from what i used to think was a great brand. This player has given Samsung a black eye in book.
- Other Thoughts: Do yourself a favor and read some reviews or wait a little longer. If you buy an upconverting DVD Player you will get a very comparable picture for about $90.00. Blu Ray may have won the battle but it seems to have a ways to go on their product. Not worth the $400 i paid for this thing.
