A good system for the money
- Pros: Good bang for your buck; I had a set price around $200 to spend on a new home theatre system and this one falls into that category.
DVD quality is good; however I didn't notice much difference in the upscaling (to 1080P) quality from my other DVD player (onto my 46in 1080P Samsung LCD). Though small, the speakers give good sound at high volumes, but they aren't earth-shattering by any means. Bass is also good, but you really have to crank the volume to hear it.
- Cons: The speakers have proprietary cables at preset lengths, which can be a burden if you have a large room.
The system can sometimes take 5-10 seconds to start playing audio when switching sources. Bass will leave you wanting; during high action/booming scenes, you just don't feel the oomph you expect with high-priced systems.
- Other Thoughts: I am very happy with my purchase. Nit-picking aside, I think Samsung did a good job with this setup. I just wish that more attention had been paid to the consumer who may have a large living room where this would be placed (non-proprietary cabling should be standard by now).
If you are looking for an inexpensive DVD Theatre system, you can't really go wrong with the HT-Z320
was decent while it lasted
- Pros: decent sound quality, easy to set up...well i guess just as easy as any other
- Cons: has quite a delay when switching scources for the sound to actually play, speaker hook ups in the rear of the reciever are cramped, after about 5 months of owning it it went into protect mode I tried everything I could think of including leaving it unplugged for a day and plugging it back in. It worked for a few minutes, just long enough to get my hopes up! I called samsung and they have supposedly sent me 2 emails with prepaid postage but i have gotten neither. will call again tomorrow.
- Other Thoughts: I didnt buy it from newegg not that it makes a difference just thought it should be stated.

Bang for your buck!
- Pros: The first thing i fell in love with was how long the speaker wires are. This is my first budget htib that i have recieved that acutally had lines long enough to run the rear surround behind my sofa, and put the front speakers on either side of my entertainment center. the center's length is decent, just enough to make it over my tv. HDMI out and optical S/PDIF in, can get really loud, and for a passively powered SW it gets the job done. USB works great, is a little slow, but this is no C2D powered system lol, comes with everything out of the box, minus a front 3.5 to 3.5 line in cable for aux 1, and no HDMI cable. Dolby Digital, and many sound modes to choose from. Remote is HUGE, many usefull buttons.
- Cons: iPod dock is cool, but dont expect much. I use it more for charging my iTouch than i do for music. Remote's range is decent, but I have seen better. The menu system is also really slow and clunky, and its "upscaling" feature fails to impress me. In my opinion it actually looks worse than on my old dvd player (even in 1080). Sub is lacking in the sub-50hz range, and those front buttons are REALLY sensitive, i can hover my finger infront of them and they beep. Cables also have these stupid connectors so you can only use these speakers with the system unless you want to chop-n-swap. barley any connectors on the back. all you have to work with is component out (to tv, which is only 480i to my suprise), composite out (480i again), fm antenna in, optical in, hdmi out, and white/red audio inputs on the rear.
- Other Thoughts: Great overall system, it plays dvd's, and can get to a decent volume level, but it will not shatter ears. The ipod dock is a great idea, but they need to revamp the software AND ADD SHUFFLE... i was really dissapointed about this. there is shuffle on usb, but none on ipod. at least it charges an ipod if you put it in the dock, id rather have it sitting there charging, than just laying on my desk getting all scratched up. If you use this on a pc, or have an equalizer option for an input source, you need to increase the treble, these speakers are not audiophile quality lol.
