4 out of 5 eggsAwesome player

Pros: Live content works great (I use Netflix, Pandora & Youtube)
DVDs & BluRay disks play awesome
The Wi-Fi dongle is very cool and working fine.

Cons: I did my first firmware upgrade via Wi-Fi and it took several hours. I learned from this, and I did the second upgrade a few days ago with an USB stick. Worked like a charm, and took only a few minutes.
Another annoying thing was this : during netflix live streaming, from time to time the movie just stops, and the player tries to re-buffer it for a few minutes, but without success. I had to power off and power back on the player. Hopefully this got fixed in the latest firmware, because since then I watched two movies and they went just fine.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this product to anyone, it is worth the money !

1 out of 5 eggsNo Real Warranty

Pros: Slim - doesn't weight much.

Cons: Unit broke after the 3 month labor warranty expired - Samsung wanted $85 to repair. Used the player maybe 10 times.

4 out of 5 eggshelpful hint

Pros: great PQ, the audio analog out (the 5.1 or 7.1) when using a pre or receiver that does not have HDMI but has the 5.1 in the player will decode the HD audio formats so you can listen to the new formats. Sounds amazing.

Cons: This thing is someone what of a nightmare to connect to the internet via wireless. Make sure you wireless router is set on the same security setting e.g. Wep or some of the newer ones. my router only has Wep in common with the player so I had to set it back to the old wep security all around the house with every device. URGH!!! firmware updates are nice (i suggest you plug in to do them, not over wireless) after you do firmware updates, you will have problems with this player sometimes taking 7 attempts to load a brand new blu-ray. That is SO Annoying!

Other Thoughts: Fixes. get your player updated to the latest firmware. IF you have trouble with having to load the disc multiple times before it will play them = hold down the >> fast forward button until the player restarts! it will clean out the mem and start working like it should. Good luck, i will probably not buy a samsung player ever again.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Loads discs very fast. Slighty noisy, but not always, when loading blurays. Mulit-channel analog outputs which is a huge plus for anyone not wanting to upgrade their receiver just yet (as long as you have multi-channel inputs on it). So I get to enjoy all the high-def sounds of Dolby Digital True-HD and DTS-MA without needing to upgrade my reciever. The USB ports and the ability to play compressed video files is a huge plus. I connected a 1.5TB external hard drive to it, formated in NTFS, and loaded it with tons of DVDs encoded in Divx and MP4 with full surround sound (both DD and DTS) and they play perfectly. The user interface is very sleek and speedy when accessing the files. I was recently successful in ripping some blu-ray discs and encoding them in both MP4 and H264 and they also play beautifully in full HD. HD Not possible with Divx. Netflix works nicely with some occassional problems but a reboot fixes this.

Cons: DTS-MA and DD TrueHD audio not possible with compressed video even though it'll read those tracks off a blu-ray. PC Streaming has been unsuccessful so far. I can get the player to see the computers on the network but it will not access them. No amount of passwords, usernames or ip addresses will change this. Not a huge negative because I wasn't planning on using this but this does not work as advertised. Netflix locks up after watching 3 or 4 videos in a row. Need to restart the player to fix this. No a big con. Just an occassional irritation.

Other Thoughts: This is really the top of the line player for because of the 7.1 analog outputs. It does everything I need it to do and I am very impressed with it.

1 out of 5 eggsFlashes black screen

Pros: Shiny?

Cons: I am on my 2nd one of these players. The first flashed black at random times, and now the 2nd is doing the same along with a grinding sound when it first turns on. I am only on a 2nd cause I sent it in under warranty. Sadly I may have to do it again, though I will be trying to play the pity card at the store I got it so I can exchange it for a Sony.

Other Thoughts: Simply do not chance buying this product.

1 out of 5 eggsStay Away!

Pros: Great feature set - Wifi/Netflix/Pandora - Samsung high quality build & slick presentation.

Cons: Firmware is very buggy - Constantly had to reboot the unit, it took a substantial amount of time to attach to my network. SMB sharing DOES NOT WORK. Samsung Tech support did not know how to trouble shoot their own product. I asked if they had been working on any of the bugs and I was told "no".

Other Thoughts: I took it back to my local retailer and purchased an LG 570 for about $30.00 USD less and I could not be happier.

3 out of 5 eggsSamsung BD-3600

Pros: This item boasts diversity... wi-fy ready works ok, Netflix, Blockbuster, Pandora, Youtube seem fine.
Unit boots up quickly, playback was concerned with compatability with audio reciever, Samsung may not be compatable to lower end units unless Samaung produces it.

Cons: Wi-fi is choppy in streaming YouTube, lan will work best. The dongle works but needs more proficiency. My DVD drive came with voltage issue...caused skipping...probable ship damage. Handheld clicker was encumbersome.

Other Thoughts: Samsung is on the right path...but remind me as Microsoft...pushing out a product before working out kinks. Unit is worth buying...if you get one that works.

2 out of 5 eggsNot All it is Cracked Up to Be

Pros: Wireless Streaming Netflix, Pandora, Youtube, and Blockbuster...

Cons: Wow where to begin... i received this in October, a birthday gift from my 28 year old son. Nice gift right? Well yes... but... I can usually make it thru 1 movie on DVD or streaming. Usually if I try to watch a second movie the thing freezes up, digitizes or is chattering like a bunch of mice in an empty tin trash can!!! If it's my Netflix it skips and is impossible to watch the movie presented.

I have spoke with my son who says his works fine. I have updated the firmware and experience the same awful performance without fail. No I haven't called Samsung... and I am not sure that will do any good if i am to beleive the other reviews i just read.

What's a girl to do???

Other Thoughts: Take my advice while this player has many of the features you can be excited about, look elsewere. For the money there has to be a more reliable unit out there.

As for me I need to level with my son and see if he can get his money back... i use my old DVD player almost exclusively now.

Pretty soon all this will be available (streaming) on your TV set and you will just need a basic blue ray...

2 out of 5 eggsRemote is Junk!

Pros: WiFi dongle, streaming capabilities, great picture, runs HD avi, mp4, and mkv. Price (under $200 on sale & rebate).

Cons: Compatibility to control a competitors television is apparently not something Samsung cares about. I've got the top of the line 2008 Panasonic 50" Plasma and the worthless Samsung remote is incompatible with this model. Cannot even turn the TV on using the Samsung remote.

Other Thoughts: Should have spent a couple bucks more and gotten the LG blu-ray instead. Or waited for the Panasonic Blu-Ray coming out this year with the same/better capabilities. Samsung has a newer model high end blu-ray out now. Maybe the remote for that is actually compatible.
