1 out of 5 eggsNo good

Pros: Works sometimes.

Cons: No HDMI cable. Crashes and needs to be power cycled. Menus don't always work or allow selections. Takes multiple attempts to get disc to play.

5 out of 5 eggsLuck of the draw?

Pros: Price. nice apps. got this to stream netflix for a kids bedroom. I read others reviews and saw they didn't get the HDMI cable. That didn't bother me as i have a few extra. Mine did come with a 6 foot HDMI cable.

Cons: Mine did not come with batteries for the remote. Not an issue.

Other Thoughts: Very happy with this unit

4 out of 5 eggsMissing a cable

Pros: Works perfectly, very thin and light weight.

Cons: This unit did not ship with the HDMI cable. If you don't have one on hand don't expect to get one in the box. It did have a video and audio cable set.

Other Thoughts: It would have gotten 5 eggs if it had the HDMI cable.

3 out of 5 eggsNo HDMI Cable as Advertised

Pros: The refurbished Samsung BD-C5500C was in near new condition, and it works perfectly. Setup was a snap after reading the instructions on the included DVD. There is a software/firmware update during the setup process, provided there is a connection to the web available. The online offerings with this Blueray player include: Vudu (HD movies), Hulu plus, Netflix, Pandora, & CNBC Real Time. I rented "Red Tails" and "Acts of Valor" Blueray DVDs for testing, and the viewing experience was excellent.

Cons: There was NO HDMI cable included with this unit, contrary to the advertisement. That would NOT have been a big deal in an urban location, but I live in a rural farm area, and the nearest vendor that sells HDMI cables, capable of 1080P use, is 35-miles away. I spent an additional $30.00 for the gas and the replacement cable just to get this unit up and running. Someone needs to be checking these units for the HDMI cable before shipping!

Other Thoughts: The refurbished Samsung BD-C5500C would have received 5-eggs if it included the HDMI cable, as advertised.

5 out of 5 eggsDon't let 'Refurb' scare you away!

Pros: Very easy to setup, disc reading is very fast and TONS of extras. Pandora was a snap to get working, netflix streams flawlessly through the player (I have used the ethernet port, rather than wifi) and I'm using the HDMI output to my A/V reciever.

I was concerned initially with the 'refurbished' label, but all concerns were set aside when the unit arrived. It was in a Samsung box, had all the items needed (remote, instructions, player). There were no visable issues with the unit (scratches, dings etc).

Comes with factory warrenty, and for $70 versus almost $200 for new...it was a steal. Buy with confidence, especially from Newegg.

Cons: None, although it would have been nice to have a 3' HDMI cable included.

4 out of 5 eggsGood player - no HDMI cable though

Pros: Streams videos from my computer. Streams netflix, vudu, youtube, and whatever else you can find in Samsung Apps. Not too difficult of a setup.

Cons: It does not stream from my Bufallo Router with the harddrive attached (which works fine for my ps3). It does stream it just fine using Samsung PC Media Manager (download from samsung.com), with the app using the exact same files (the network hard drive is mounted as a network drive on my PC). Not sure why this is...

Biggest con, and the reason that i knocked off a star is because it did not come with an HDMI cable as the description clearly states. It only came with an A/V cable, the remote, a user manual disk, and the BD player itself (with attached power cable, of course).

Other Thoughts: It also did not come with a ethernet cable, which I didn't think about before hand. It would've been nice to include...

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Buy

Pros: Really good player for the price, easy plug and play unit. I had it out of the box and ready to play in about 10 minutes.
It looked brand new, so the only evidence that it was a refurbished unit was the labeling on the box.

Cons: Really have not found any negatives. I was looking for a basic quality unit at a good price and I found it.

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice.

Pros: Love the formats supported through the USB drives you can use optionally. Love the wired and wireless connectivity so I can use Netflix and Pandora on it. Although it does not come with a wireless adapter, so I don't know what to get, but just using wired is fine in my room.

Lots of options and great video/audio quality.

Price was great, I don't care if it's refurb.

Cons: No coax digital out, only optical. No S-video if you do not have an HDMI input for your TV. But I think most will be using this with HDMI anyway, so not a big deal.

Somewhat clunky and confusing remote that is huge.

Other Thoughts: If you've been looking to upgrade from a standard DVD player this is a great choice for the price.

5 out of 5 eggsGood value with some limitations but has work arounds

Pros: Good picture quality. Works with PlayOn. Has an unofficial Plex client (currently video only).
Has Netflix, Hulu Plus, Vudu, Blockbuster, etc.
Can buy new for around $120, so this refurbished is about half price in the "Only for Subscribers" email this week ends 4-9.

Cons: No built in Wifi and doggle is expensive (was around $80 when I got mine). I was able to use the Encore ENUWI-N for $9 but speed was around 5MB and connnection was spotty. Alternative doggles must have a particular chip set-rt2870-and it often very hard to determine. I went wired. No problems at all.

Limited meda format playback. It appears to have a lot, but many are very particular on the encoding setting. USB attached media very good, streaming would not read the same as USB. I've not used USB in a while now.

Uses a folder system for DLNA. Not very visually pleasing. Better to use 3rd party servers that that of Samsung. I've used Tversity and Serviio as most of my MP4s need transcoding to play on the C5500.

Now that it has a Plex client, I use Plex Server--very happy with this find!!!

No 3D.

Other Thoughts: For this sale price of $60, it can't be beat. With PlayOn, I have access to both Hulu and Hulu Plus client in the player and other great streaming sites. I've been considering a Roku. With PlayOn and Plex, I've been reconsidering and with this price, I'll probably buy a second one of these players. I'm still considering the load on my not so current desktop that is service this media. Roku doesn't need access to the PC. So second blu-ray or Roku ease of use (ie, the wife factor) and less PC load.
