5 out of 5 eggsBuy it!

Pros: Plays DVDs and Blu-rays just fine, as you'd expect. I also love the Pandora app. It's about as small as a Blu-ray player can get. Works great with the "AllShare Control" app on my Android phone.

Cons: Browser and YouTube aren't the greatest if that's what you're most concerned about. If you want to use the browser much though, download the "AllShare Control" app on your phone. Just connect your phone and Blu-ray to the same WiFi network and the app will detect the Blu-ray without any problems. You can use the app to do everything the remote does, plus it lets you use the touchscreen as a mouse pad for the browser and your phone's keyboard for typing. The keyboard doesn't work on the YouTube app though, which is better for videos than YouTube on the browser.

Other Thoughts: "Refurbished" might as well say "New."

2 out of 5 eggsnot worth it

Pros: small size is good. wireless works for netflix, hulu, etc.

Cons: terrible web browser. so slow and frustrating we don't use it. hdmi is the only tv connection, so moving it around is limited to hdmi tv's.

Other Thoughts: bought it solely because the box said web browser. just for occasional look ups on the internet when sitting it front of the tv instead of going to get the laptop, turning it on, etc. would not have bought this one just as a wireless blu-ray player.

2 out of 5 eggsdisappointing

Pros: -sleek, small, shiny, cute
-narrow width is great (why the heck do cd/dvd/br players have to be 24 inches wide when the discs they play are only 5 inches wide?)
-lots of options
-plays blu rays and most media formats in stunning HD
-low price
-people have actually told me they bolted this thing to the backs of their flatscreen TVs. Although it doesnt have mounting brackets built into it, it's small and light enough that you could probably duct-tape it on. I like the idea of having a super small blu-ray player attached, completely out-of-sight to the back of the tv.

Cons: horrible horrible horrible menu navigation. you start from a homescreen with 4 options, then each of those 4 options have 4 submenus, and each submenu has submenus. each time you click on a different menu there is a long 5 second delay, during which absolutely nothing happens, and you can't navigate. Maybe that doesn't sound annoying, but it is an absolute nightmare to navigate through menus with this thing. There is a super awkward on-screen keyboard input that you must navigate with 4 arrow keys only, and the arrows keys have a terrible delay. So in order to do anything, you have to download silly apps, and register them. so let's pretend your email address is zebra. You think you are pressing the Z key, but really you press X due to the screen delay. Then of course there isn't a backspace key on the remote, so you have to navigate to the backspace to clear the accidental X and replace it with a Z. After pressing 17 different arrow combinations to navigate the on-screen cursor to the backspace button, the lag delay actually makes you do an underscore "_" instead of a backspace, so you're left with "X_" after 5 minutes of navigation. If you havnt smashed your new blu-ray player by now, you possess super-human constraint.

Many of the advertised functions simply do not work. The most critical of which is the "disc2digital" function. It claims that it will allow you to copy your blu-ray movies to the internet and store them for free so that you may access them from other portable devices etc, however that function does not work. Yes, I read the instructions and followed step by step. It tried to force me to pay $14.99 each to access titles that I already owned, etc etc etc. Samsung offered a wonderful sounding concept: buy the dvd, then upload it for free and watch your content from any device! but then they balked horribly, outsourcing all of the required data storage to 3rd party applications that are trying to make a buck.

Another function that did not work was the streaming "netflix" feature. When this blu-ray player was manufactured, netflix was in its flixster phase, and the transition somehow made this blu-ray player incompatible.

Internet browsing is a nightmare.

The blu-ray player is NOT accessible via wireless devices. When it was advertised as "wifi built in" I was under the impression that I would be able to access the blu-ray player from a laptop. That is not the case. The wifi is only intended to enable internet browsing via the blu-ray player. Yes, that's internet browsing with a dvd remote, meaning no-keyboard, no-mouse. It's an awful experience.

Finally, the beautiful blue LEDs on the front of the blu-ray player don't light up unless you touch them first. Thus, you can't find them in the dark. It's such a counter-intuitive feature... LEDs that only light up after you touch them. That feature alone is a sort of metaphor for this entire device. Good intentions... but poorly conceived.

Other Thoughts: if you are buying this product for the purpose of playing discs and absolutely nothing else, you will be happy with it... however, if you expect to use the web-browsing, netflix, disc2digital, or any other features, you will surely be returning this thing. It is a great dvd/blu-ray player. It is NOT a good web-browser, streaming media viewing device, or anything else.

Another thing worth noting is: the only video output on this device is a single HDMI port. You can not access the device wirelessly in any way.

And of course it doesn't come with an HDMI cable or batteries!

USB port is NOT an output. It is used for updating firmwire. That's very misleading!

final though... it's great price for a cute little blu-ray player if that's all you're looking for. however, the horrendous controls and non-functional features caused me to return it.

5 out of 5 eggsUnderrated 3D Player

Pros: Good little 3D player
Is compatible with all 3D and blu ray titles I own
Seamlessly works with Samsung 3D LED TV
Plays my MKV files over WiFi
Sleek and sexy
Refurbished works and looks brand new

Cons: Clunky browser and apps

Other Thoughts: I had noticed that this player was not very well received on another online electronics dealer (Azon) and that there are none on here, so I decided to write a short one.

I have a 46" 3D Samsung, which was basically plug-and-play over Anynet+, requiring only 1 Samsung remote. The setup was simple, and the wi-fi has worked flawlessly with my Apple Airport Extreme for the past couple weeks.

On my PC, I back up my blu ray disks as MKV files on a designated media hard drive, and have added those files to the AllShare software offered by Samsung. All of the files I have tested work, and it's nice to just watch the movie I want in 1080p without having to get up to insert a disc. Very nice if watching the movie (and not accessing special features) is your goal.

The only con I have is that the browser and a few of the other extra apps are very slow and clunky, but that's a problem with Samsung smart apps in general. I expected this and really bought the player because of the connectivity with my TV, nice form factor, price, and ability to air play my videos.

By my expectations, the player itself is a 4 star, and the refurbished price makes it a 5 star product.

In the future, I plan on trying to hook up a wireless keyboard to my TV and see if I can control both components with it.
