1 out of 5 eggsNot As It Seems

Pros: Played Blu-ray discs.

Cons: Did not play DVDs from Region 1 (Region 3 only).
The remote it came with was for a Samsung TV not this player and was non-functional with this player.
No cash refunds.

Other Thoughts: After complaining to Newegg about all the issues with this item, they gave me Newegg Credit for the item along with a return shipping label.

Unless you're from Asia and have another Samsung Disc Player remote, I'd avoid this item.

Pros: After firmware update, everything works great.
Had plastic on top and face like brand new.
Still looking for something it can't play.

1 out of 5 eggsSamsung 3D Wifi BD-E5900

Pros: 74.99 with a $25 mail-in rebate -fantastic! Looks like a new unit straight of the box. Has 3D, built -in Wifi, and features galore! I've been looking forever for another Blu Ray unit to take the wear and tear off my PS3. This unit seems to have it all...

Cons: Turns on via remote [nice], loads, I push 'drawer open' button, unit LCD display says 'Open' -but drawer will not open. Cycle power [repeatedly], manually push button on unit, drawer still will not open. Try every tech trick I know, call Samsung -they have me try the first steps I already tried. Boo hoo, gotta send this one back. I was really pumped to get started configuring this baby, with all the bells and whistles. ...So, I get the bad one in the bunch! [Everybody else's review was very high] Gofigure, Samsung had this problem many moons ago with units not working right out of the box; I didn't even think twice about a Samsung product possibly being defective [since their quality has improved greatly in the BD/DVD arena over the years, and their excellence in producing so many other products].

Other Thoughts: Costs 14.98 to return. So this deal isn't quite as sweet as I thought initially :-(

4 out of 5 eggsnot 240v capable as listed

Pros: Works as advertised with no issues.

Cons: This details here state it can be run on 240v, but nowhere in the manual or on the unit does it say it can be run on 240v (I was hoping to use this overseas). I still can but I'll have to use a transformer.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome tech upgrade for me

Pros: Doesn't know the Sony Montra "Can Not Play this Disk"
Plays all my disks
Plays all my files
Can see and play the files On my PC without copying them to USB stick.
Supposed to play files on a USB device (Untested by me).
File names appear in full form, not old MSDos 8.3 format like the old Phillips units.
Does something magic and kicks my Surround Receiver awake which loves to power itself down.

Cons: Kind of expensive for my needs
Has Features I can't use since I'm stuck on dialup

Other Thoughts: This worked out great for me, It near impossible to find a basic DVD player anymore, only thing left on market is cheap junk. I had a Sony unit but from the get go that thing had it's little montra it liked to throw up at every other disk "Can Not Play this Disk". That especially included any disk burned with a Sony DVD burner which I trashed long ago. I didn't need blue ray as my TVs don't have that resolution yet, but figured this unit wasn't too expensive and on dialup, well forget streaming. The good thing I did see was it had a USB port on the front like some old Phillips units I have which won't play DVDs anymore. I still use those thru their USB ports to play files, especially in my garage. That what really got me to buy this unit, but than I was browseing the manual, lol, I'm someone who actually reads them, and saw, if you want to play files on your PC over the wireless network, download this and ...., shock and awe, it freaking works! I'm impressed and pleased. Plays files perfectly without a hiccup on my wireless network with the 8 year old linksys router I bought for like $30. Only negative I had at first was often I'd notice a pop, and a jump of the picture when I fired it up, than I realized what I was seeing was some kind of new fangled tech magic where the blue ray player is kicking my Onkyo surround sounds receiver in the tail and saying, WAKE UP! The receiver always was a bit lazy likeing to power down if not used for any length of time and the pop and jump are typical of it's kicking in.
